Chapter six
Xander knew he should have expected something. He knew he should have followed his gut instinct. Xander stared out of his room window as he watched his entire kingdom fall, screams of agony filled the air and the smell of violence had become too thick, it was almost suffocating.
-
Xander suddenly jolted at the sound of screaming and destruction. At first, he thought it was a nightmare, at first he thought he was still in the nightmare when he tried to blink his eyes.
His heart thumped against his chest once he realized that those screams were very much real and the sound of angered shoutings belonged to people he was not familiar with.
He pushed himself off the bed, quickly wrapping a robe around his thin shoulders and tied it around his tiny waist. He ran barefoot towards the window and a gasp was forcefully pushed out of his mouth like word vomit.
Xander's room window over-looked the entire kingdom, it was not that big but it was exceptional. Large walls had enclosed them in and Xander had thought that they would always offer protection but he was proven wrong.
For before him, there were outsiders dressed in armour pulling people out of their homes and whoever defied them were killed on the spot. There were some houses that were engulfed in fire.
"W-what is h-happening?" Xander asked scared, his body shaking and he quickly looked toward his room door and he thanked the lord that it was locked.
There were probably around thirty outsiders that were ransacking the kingdom, Xander couldn't understand why the soldiers were not doing anything.
His question was disgustingly answered when he looked to the side and noticed all the soldiers on their knees with their heads bowed low in submission and fear, visibly shaking.
And dreadfully, Amos Avier stood before them with fire in his eyes. He glared at them, a warning look as if daring someone to go against them. There were men standing beside the king, people that Xander could not recognize.
The one to his right had copper-like hair with a unique looking face, a scar running right across his face from left eyebrow, across his nose, and stops a little below his bottom lip.
The king and the male seemed to get into a deep conversation.
But a soldier who was kneeling close by to the king woke up and lunged himself towards them, dagger in hand, ready to kill.
Xander's breath hitched and his heart rose in hope, hoping that the soldier would kill one of them and the soldiers would fight too but his hope had risen too soon when the copper head thrusted a sword right into the soldier's mouth, causing him to gag on his own blood.
The Prince almost screamed, he watched as the copper head retracted the sword and what followed had the Prince feeling dizzy.
Blood gushed out in a spray of filth and painted Amos and the copper head in splats.
The people close by who witnessed it, the ones who were defying the king instantly began to shake in fear.
The outsiders were powerful. Very powerful.
Xander gripped his robe as tears battered down his cheeks and he hated how weak he had become, he hated how he kept crying at everything.
Amos suddenly could feel eyes on him and his body stiffened on high alert before he began to look around like a hound dog, searching for the pair of eyes that were watching him.
The king instantly calmed down once he looked up toward the castle and noticed his Queen staring down at him, at the shock, Xander frantically disappeared back into the room.
Xander felt his heart thump in fear and he quickly moved to the side, away from Amos' eyes.
"Hello."
A voice had Xander spinning around and a scream left his mouth in fear. In front of him stood a boy, almost his height and he had a sickening smile on his face.
A smile that did not look normal, almost psychotic. The little boy looked about Xander's age, his hair was black and ruffled. He had large black eyes that held a dark aura behind them.
There was something unsettling Xander, especially since he remembered that the door was locked when he checked.
The Prince quickly took a look at the door and noticed it was wide open.
How did he get in there?!
"W-who are y-you?!" Xander yelled, he pushed himself further and further away until he found himself cornered.
The little boy in front of him followed him slowly, his head tilting to one side with a blank look on his face. Xander thought he was absolutely terrifying.
"Why do they always ask that? W-who are y-you? Who are you?" The boy wailed in mock tease and Xander stared wide eyed.
"You should be worried about why I'm here, why I do have this in my hand?" The boy spread his arms wide and began to inch closer and closer, each time Xander shrunk back.
Especially when he noticed the small boy swirling a dagger in his hand like it was a toy, a psychotic smirk on his face and right at this moment... Xander knew he was going to lose his life. He wondered whether it was even a bad thing but then he thought of Christian and he knew that it wasn't his time to die yet.
"Please d-don't d-do this."
"Who are you?" The raven boy asked. His eyebrows narrowed a bit.
"Last thing I heard, the Kim family was wiped out so why is there a cute boy draped in finesse hidden away in the tallest tower. For a prisoner, you're living quite lavish." The raven swirled his dagger dreamily as he swished the knife, coming closer each time.
He was so close now that if he just pushed the weapon a few inches, he would cut through Xander's skin.
The Prince eyed the dainty dagger. It looked small but it sure looked like it could cause damage.
There was silence for five minutes and it seemed the stranger was getting very impatient.
"There's pretty much no use for you if you're gone mute, might as well save myself the time."
"No! I wi-"
Xander felt a slam to his head, darkness enveloped his vision and the faint muffled voice filled his ears,
"Sweet dreams baby."
