Chapter 2: A Dramatic Encounter

Harrison furrowed his brow.

Keira continued, "So there's no need to exchange my first night for any conditions. Also, I am formally resigning from my position today. I need to focus on my graduation thesis and won't be able to tutor your brother anymore. We won't see each other again, so I wish you success in your business and a happy life. Goodbye."

She finished speaking and hung up the phone.

On the other end, Harrison smirked.

Never see each other again?

Was this woman rejecting him?

Ha, since when did she get to decide that?

He moved the phone away from his ear, staring at the screen emitting a busy signal.

Keira, you're the first one to dare hang up on me.

Keira started to run away from the villa area that felt so out of place for her.

But after just one step, she almost fell.

Damn it, what kind of torture did Harrison put her through last night?

It hurt so much.

In the afternoon, she received a call from the principal.

Later, she arrived at the principal's office with a heavy heart.

The principal, dressed in an elegant gown, looked at the slender Keira.

"Keira, I know you are a talented and smart girl, but the Johnston family will never accept an orphan as a daughter-in-law. So I'll ask you one last time: choose my son Sean and lose your job, or give up Sean and stay at school."

Keira's eyes showed no emotion. Almost as soon as the principal finished speaking, she said, "I am not an orphan."

"But to us, it makes no difference."

She clenched her fists. After all, her mother was gone. Being an orphan sounded better than being an illegitimate child of the Serrano family, didn't it?

Without any hesitation, she said, "I choose to stay at school."

Mary Austin was very surprised by Keira's answer this time.

It was different from her previous three answers.

"You won't regret it after getting the job, will you?"

"If Ms. Austin is afraid I'll regret it, I can write you an agreement right now. I'll break up with Sean."

"Good, very good. Over the past two years, I've given you enough face by not breaking you and Sean up. But now you're graduating, and Sean has his own path to follow. So from now on, I hope you remember your words."

"I will."

When Keira walked out of the office building, she realized it had started raining heavily without her noticing.

She dashed into the rain, running as fast as she could.

She still had to go to her tutoring job. She had lost her boyfriend and the Parker family's job; she couldn't afford to lose any more opportunities.

As she reached the school gate, a familiar car stopped in front of her.

The car door opened, and a couple stepped out.

The man held an umbrella for the woman...

Keira's steps faltered.

She intended to turn around and avoid them, but the girl suddenly called out to her.

"Keira."

The girl ran towards her from under the umbrella and tightly grasped her hand.

"Keira, I'm sorry. It's my fault. You can hit me or scold me."

Behind her, the man quickly stepped forward and held the umbrella over both girls' heads.

He looked at Keira with a face full of guilt. "Keira, I really didn't know what happened yesterday. I..."

Keira looked at the two people in front of her and couldn't help but find it laughable.

This storyline was so cliché.

She thought it only happened in dramatic novels.

One was her boyfriend, and the other was her roommate.

The tragic part was that they had slept together behind her back and were caught in bed by her, which led her to get drunk.

Keira ignored the girl and looked directly at Sean Johnston with a cold expression. "Sean Johnston, do you know why I chose you as my boyfriend from among all my suitors?"
