Chapter 1

"Sevita Earp, do you really have to be so cruel? You only lost a kidney, but your sister lost her life!"

The stepmother, tears streaking her face, clutched my sister at the door.

I remained expressionless, veins throbbing on my clenched hands in anger.

"You shameless thing!"

As a child of the new era, I excelled!

Despite being abandoned by our father at an early age, I managed to buy an apartment and got admitted to a prestigious university with my own merits.

My pretentious sister and our two-faced stepmother, relying on years of acting skills and their so-called excellence, shared a blind love with my foolish father.

They drove me out when I was just five years old.

Now, it turned out my sister had kidney failure and needed a transplant.

Instead of saving their own daughter by donating a kidney, my stepmother and father actually asked me to give my sister mine!

My stepmother Gillian Perry looked at the unyielding me in front of her, growing desperate.

"What an ungrateful girl. It's just a kidney, and you won't even give it. She's your own sister!"

“That's easy for you to say.”

"How can you speak about Mom like that, Sevita?"

Emma Russell, whose face was pale and her voice was trembling, disapproved of my words.

She had already bowed her head so low. What else did she want?

A smirk played around my lips. Indeed!

I was just too good-natured.

"Don’t cry, Emma, or you'll ruin your makeup."

My tone was particularly sinister, a smile hanging on my lips.

Emma was startled, struggling to hold back her tears.

"We’re not related by blood. And Emma, you seem to have forgotten something. Instead of begging someone unrelated, why not plead with your mom and dad?"

I leaned on the broom, watching Emma's complex expression, feeling particularly pleased.

“What a bitch! Don’t even think I’m a pushover!” I thought.

"Sevita."

Just as the standoff with these two unreasonable women continued, a deep, pleasant voice came from outside.

I glanced over. Oh! Wasn't that my boyfriend Noah Oleff?

With his broad shoulders and well-toned body, he dressed in black.

He made Emma freeze right where she stood.

Noah walked towards us, hands in his pockets and hair tousled by the wind.

As he passed by Emma, he gave her an unintentional glance.

Oh!

Their eyes met.

One looked soft and shy, which added a touch of fragility to her beauty.

The other looked stunned by my sister’s beauty, with a hint of scum in his eyes.

Reluctantly, Noah turned back and came up to me. He regained his composure before asking me.

"Looks like a mother and sister there?"

I stood with the broom and gave him a smile that did not reach my eyes.

Noah felt a chill in his heart.

"How come I don't remember you have a sister?"

Noah stiffened when he turned his head away, no longer speaking.

"Sevita, how can you be like this?"

Oh, no! Noah looked at her again.

Emma began to pretend to cry.

"Emma, before I get angry, get out."

Emma seemed to want to say more, but I casually raised the broom in my hand.

She instinctively stepped back.

"Sevita, since you don't welcome us, we will leave now."

Clearly, Gillian was still somewhat frightened. After all, she had seen the power of my broom.

Emma tried to protest, her eyes pleading as she looked at Noah.

"Sevita..."

Noah steadied himself and turned to me, trying to say something when I glared at him.

Noah silently turned his head away...
