7: Eyes
Chapter 7
Eyes
***
Leila was so guilty that she couldn’t just leave Hunter’s mansion. She wasn’t allowed on the second floor of the house, and she hadn’t seen Butler Henry go down.
She had eaten the steak that she had cooked, and she had a tiny tinge of pain, thinking that she hadn’t even asked for Hunter’s food preference.
How could she ever forget something as important as that kind of information?!
“I should’ve asked…” She murmured under her breath.
Then, a loud bang of the door suddenly interrupted her thoughts. Her eyes widened like a saucer as fear and worry instantly attacked her. She hadn’t heard the doorbell, and she knew that no one would enter the place – for it was only Hunter and Butler Henry leaving in this huge mansion.
“Then, who the heck is this?” She asked herself as she immediately held the vase just beside her.
Whoever, this intruder was, she would instantly shout to Butler Henry and alarm them.
But that also meant that her life would be in danger.
Her heart began to pound so quickly inside her chest – especially when someone unexpectedly entered through the door.
Leila was about to throw the vase, but the man who entered speedily took it away from her. His face was unreadable and as cold as Hunter’s.
“Who the heck are you?” He menacingly inquired – making the hair on her nape stand up.
The man was tall and bulky. He’s slightly tanned, and his face resembled someone – most especially his deep ocean blue eyes.
“What? Cat got your tongue, eh?” He added – making her to grit her teeth.
However, before she could even answer him, Butler Henry had already interrupted them.
“Master Hector, Master Hunter is in his room.” He calmly stated but worry was etched on his voice.
She was dumbfounded.
How could these people have walked without creating any noise… at all.
However, that was now the least of her concerns. Her eyes drifted to the man named Hector, who suddenly changed his cold demeanor into a worried one.
“Escort Doc Fridger.” His voice was authoritative as Butler Henry slightly bowed down and nodded his head.
Now, that was the only time, she saw a man with gray hair wearing his spectacles. He didn’t look like a doctor to her but based on what that man called him – he must be the one who will check on Hunter.
Then, her eyes automatically went towards the man named Hector when he spoke another word – and she just knew that he was referring to her.
“By the way, who is this pup?” Hector curiously inquired.
Leila didn’t know, but she could sense a bit of amusement in his voice. Apparently, his expression was saying something else – like he was disgusted to see her.
Well, the feeling is mutual. However, she just had no other choice but to be here.
‘Who is this man, anyway? He must know Hunter and Butler Henry too well. Not to mention the authority oozing in him.’ Leila pondered mentally.
‘And…’
Her forehead creased as she threw the man some deadly glares.
“Why would you call me a ‘pup’? I’m not a dog.” She couldn’t stop herself from being offended.
‘Did he just compare me to a puppy?’
She gritted her teeth as her blood boiled more when Hector just ignored her words.
‘Jerk!’
“Uhm, she is Miss Leila, Master Hector. She’s an omega.” Butler Henry gave the man a meaningful look – causing his forehead to crease as confusion instantly filled his face.
‘Omega? What is that?’
“Maybe, let’s talk about it upstairs.” Butler Henry politely continued.
The man named Hector just nodded his head, and without giving her another look, he immediately walked towards the stairs as they went to Hunter’s room.
“What the hell just happened? So, they would just ignore me, huh?” She mumbled to herself.
Leila plopped down on the huge and soft single sofa as she crossed her arms in front of her chest. Her blood was totally boiling inside.
It might take them thirty more minutes, as she heard some voices from the second floor of the mansion.
“Just get out of here, Hector! I don’t need you.”
Her brows furrowed as she stood up and looked above. There, she noticed a frail Hunter – who was pushing away that Hector-whatever.
“But-”
“Just go. I am totally fine!”
With that, she heard a loud bang – Hunter might have closed the door harshly. Her curiosity intensified, but she must mind her own business, she just shrugged her shoulders.
However, her nosiness could really get ahead of herself if her eyes never leave those men still talking upstairs. They really seemed worried about Hunter.
‘Oh my, what will happen to me once he discovers that it was my fault why it happened to Hunter?’ Leila suddenly thought.
But her thoughts went towards the must-be-doctor when he suddenly talked.
“He will be fine, Master Hector. I have given him some medications, and don’t forget that his stamina is superb.” The must-be-doctor commented as they walked towards the stairs.
She stood up and waited for them to come down.
“Who have caused his this, anyway? Hunter is a very cautious man.” Hector curiously inquired.
Leila swallowed hard as guilt immediately brought here back to her senses. She knew that it was certainly her fault. She didn’t know that Hunter was allergic to chocolate.
It was like, who would be, right?
It was the kids’ all-time favorite!
“It is just an accident, Master Hector. Master Hunter said that it isn’t a big deal at all.” Butler Henry replied.
She bit her lower lip. She thought that he would have told this man about her and her faults.
“Anyways, I am still waiting who this ‘pup’ is? She seemed so… naïve.” Hector suddenly blurted out as he took a swift glance at her.
Leila pursed her lips together – trying to calm her nerves. She didn’t want to add more problems to Butler Henry… and to Hunter, just in case she had offended that… unwelcomed visitor.
She mentally rolled her eyes. She knew that her patience was already wearing thin, and that wasn’t a good thing either.
“She’s Miss Leila, Master Hector. I believe Master Hunter will explain it to you soon.” Butler Henry courteously explained.
Hector suddenly laughed his *ss off – causing her cheeks to turn into pale pink… because of fury.
“What is so funny, Master Hector?” She coldly inquired as her left brow rose.
She even emphasized the word ‘Master’ – pinpointing the sarcasm that escaped from her mouth.
Hector suddenly stopped and gave her a cold and annoyed look.
Leila wanted to shout for joy as she saw his irritation grow. She didn’t want the air that this man held, and she didn’t know why Hunter was pushing him away… But all that she knew was that she didn’t like him.
And her ability to discern people always saves her anyway. So, she would be trusting it this time.
“Whatever. I will be visiting again soon. Make sure to tend him and make him take his medicine, Henry.” Hector arrogantly stated before walking out of the mansion.
Leila scoffed as Butler Henry heaved a deep sigh.
“Who is that man, Butler Henry? I don’t like him…” Leila unconsciously blurted out.
“Watch your words, Miss Leila. That man that you are talking about is Master Hector Black… He is Master Hunter’s older brother.” Butler Henry stated – causing her eyes to bulge out of its sockets.
‘What the-’
Now, that explains why they have the same deep ocean blue eyes.
‘However, that Hector Black is just so annoying.’ She mentally added.
