Chapter 2 Deliberate Humiliation

Lexie woke up sore and weak.

The man was nowhere to be seen.

Only the slightly cool tobacco breath from him was left in the air.

Lexie dragged her tired body to the bathroom to take a shower, and when she came downstairs, the first thing she saw was the middle-aged beautiful woman sitting on the sofa, with her arms around her chest, staring at her coldly.

She had seen this person from the photo her father had given her, it was Alan's aunt, Diana Sutton.

She heard that Alan lost his parents when he was young and was brought up by Diana, and then his grandfather took them back together, and when Alan built a business empire that belonged to him with his own abilities, he always treated Diana as dutiful as his mother.

At this moment, Diana looked her up and down, "That old fox Peter doesn't keep his word, knowing full well that the one we're marrying is Edith, yet he married you, a mute, thinking that our family is a garbage collection station? I don't know why Alan kept you, but since that's the case, you'd better behave well. Don't think that you care not the hostess by marrying into our family, we are not fools."

"Well, now go and make the dinner first, you should be virtuous!"

It was clear that the large the Howard family wasn't short of servants, but Diana was inclined to let a newcomer who had just married over do the cooking.

Faced with Diana's sharp gaze, Lexie lowered her eyes.

Even though Diana deliberately made things difficult for her, she couldn't resist for the time being, for a woman without power and authority couldn't argue with these people.

Lexie turned around and went to the kitchen, it was just a meal, no big deal.

Soon, Alan returned from the company. Diana smiled and greeted him for dinner, and the man turned his head to see at a glance that it was Lexie with an apron cooking in the kitchen.

He frowned.

Seeing this, Diana laughed, "She was the one who insisted on cooking, I think she wanted us to taste her cooking."

Alan nodded and didn't say anything.

Lexie grew up staying with her grandma, so she could do cooking and household chores, and soon she finished four dishes and one soup before she brought them up.

Her virtuous competence was seen by the servants, but they didn't have much respect for her.

In the eyes of the crowd, only the lower class serves, the upper class is served.

During the meal, everyone, including the servants, put their focus on Alan, treating her like air. Lexie was uncomfortable, and in order to avoid this atmosphere, she casually ate a few bites, nodded at them, and got up to go upstairs.

After Lexie left, Diana pursed her lips, "How rude, can she be uncaring just because she is a mute?"

Alan didn't even raise his head, directly picking up the document and flipping through it.

Seeing that he didn't answer her own words, Diana's eyes turned and added, "Alan, this the Mitchell family actually married a mute to our family, it's simply too bullying! They still want you to fund their business? I think it's a dream!"

Diana knows her nephew's tactics, and so she is not worried about the the Mitchell family taking advantage, but only the thought of marrying such a mute made her fell uncomfortable, because it was inevitably would be laughed at.

But Alan still didn't say anything, not even an expression.

Diana saw that he obviously didn't want to talk about this topic, so she smiled curtly, "Kevin is studying medicine in France, and he will come back after so many years. He can’t have a mute as his sister-in-law, right? It's a joke, so send her away after some one. I will help you find another woman, okay?"

Alan finally reacted this time, sweeping an expressionless glance at her, "I know what to do, so you don’t have to worry."

His cold and detached tone caused Diana's face to stiffen.

After the man left, the servant Marry came forward and whispered, "Madam, Mr. Alan said that because he was afraid of your worry and strain, don't think too much about it."

Diana's face was full of sorrow as she sighed, ''Can I not think much about it? Ever since Alan was found from the traffickers, his personality has changed a lot, he is no longer as approachable as he was when he was a child. Although he received me into the Howard family and I have been enjoying wealth, I know that he blames me in his heart. If I wasn't careless, he wouldn't have been taken away by the traffickers and suffered so much."

Marry's lips twitched and she didn't know how to speak. Mr. Alan had been unbeatable in the business for more than ten years, but his personality had also become more and more cold and indifferent, no wonder Madam thought much about it.
