Chapter 10
"Where were you?"
I smiled and looked up at Jason. "Always in a wonderful mood. How are you?" I asked rolling my eyes. "Is that the first thing you say to me?"
"I called you. Where is your phone?"
"I missed your calls. I'm sorry. I didn't notice the time." I said walking closer to his desk.
"Where were you?" He asked again and I huffed.
"At a cafe."
"And you're an hour late for that?"
I sighed smiling. "Like I said I didn't notice the time. I'm here to take the flash for the conference."
He just looked at me not saying anything.
I laughed lightly. "What?"
I'm sure he smells fear.
"What were you doing there until now?"
"Jason why are you interrogating me? I'm a big girl, you know?" I smiled but he just looked at me.
He opened the drawer and took out the flash.
"Were you alone?"
I quickly snatched the flash and walked to the door. "Thank you. I'll see you later."
I quickly walked out before he could say anything else. I'm already late so he can keep interrogating me later.
Or so I thought because as soon as I walked out of the office I was pulled right back in.
"Have you lost your mind?" I gasped with a laugh as Jason closed the door again.
"Answer my question?"
"What question?" I asked smiling but he just kept a straight face.
"Were you alone?" He asked in a demanding tone.
I looked at him with raised eyebrows. "Seriously. You know how I am. How many friends do I have?"
I asked hoping he would just agree and let it go, knowing that I didn't have friends before him and his siblings.
Just mind play.
"Are you forgetting that I taught everything you know about tricks and mind play? So this is not working. It's a yes or no question." He said burying his hands in his pockets.
"No."
"No, you weren't alone or no, you didn't forget I taught you everything."
"No I wasn't alone." I answered looking at the door. "Can I go now?"
I know that would be too easy. But I can still try.
"Who?"
"Someone I met there. Not friends yet. We just talked."
He hummed nodding. "Name?"
"Do you need to know?"
"Name?" He asked looking at me still with a straight face.
"Dean." I said. "And can you show an expression?"
"Last name?" He asked and I opened my mouth to answer but closed it frowning realizing I didn't know."You don't know."
"Nope." I said shifting lightly. "I feel like I'm in the principale's office. I said I'm sorry I was late. It won't happen again."
"How come you didn't tell me about this date?"
I frowned looking at him.
Why do I feel like he is accusing me of something with this tone?
I scoffed. "It wasn't a date. It was just a discussion. I just met the guy. And he insisted."
He moved to his desk and leaned against it looking at me.
"What? I'm not a student anymore. So no more distractions." I smiled. "Can I get to work now?"
"You don't know his last name?" He asked and I shook my head.
"No, Mr. Grumpy. And since you don't want to smile at me today, can I go?"
He nodded and walked to his chair. "Yeah. You can go."
"Are you okay?" I asked furrowing my eyebrows as he sat on his chair.
"Yeah. I'll see you later."
"No. I'm not leaving until you tell what is putting in a bad mood." I said crossing my arms over my chest.
He sighed and looked at me. "You don't know his last name. So it will just be harder to find him and get rid of him."
I looked at him in disbelief and laughed. "You're very funny. But seriously what's wrong?"
He just kept a straight face. "You think I'm joking?"
I smiled shaking my head. "Find then if you don't want to tell me, I take it you're in a bad mood for no special reason as usual. I'm taking you out tonight so we can slap a smile back on your face."
My smile widened when a small one appeared on his face.
"See? That's good start. Makes you look less mean. Wear something casual." I said and walked out and this time I made it.
** Third POV **
"What's going on?" Sebiastian asked barging into his brother's office.
"I don't know. I'm not the one bagging in your office." Jason grumbled looking at Sebastian who slammed the door behind him."And don't slam my door, asshole."
"Dad called in a bad mood-"
"That's nothing new." Jason scoffed.
"Well he told me that he was on his way and to wait for him here." Sebastian said taking a seat.
"And you come to bother me now. If he was home when he called you won't be here for another twenty minutes."
Sebastian huffed. "What? You think I'm stupid. He called twenty minutes ago. So he s-"
He was cut off by the door opening and closing, as their father walked in.
"Hello boys."
"Hi dad." Jason answered closing his computer.
"Hi dad."
Hunter placed an envelope on the desk and his youngest son grabbed it.
"I'm closer than you think. 25 years. You took 25 years of my life and locked me up like an animal. The day I'll live you in peace is the day I die. The day you stop hearing about me is the day I go six feet under. It's now about family business anymore. It's about destroying every last one of you. Until you lose everything. Until you all disappear. Then I will be satisfied. You thought this was over. It was just a 25 years break. Now it begins."
Sebastian frowned deepened as he finished reading the whole note. "Kevin?"
"Well he is the only nut job that hates us this much and was in jail for 25 years." Jason sighed grabbing the note.
"It's obviously him. What do we do with this clown?" Sebastian groaned."I don't even want to meet him. Can't he just start a life somewhere and leave his ex family alone."
"Nothing. Let him come to us. Let's keep this between the three of us, for now. Don't even tell Victoria, Jason. At least not yet. Let's wait and find out where he is and what he is planning after 25 fucking years." Hunter mumbled.
"Is he never going to stop?"
"Not until he's dead, like he said." Jason answered laughing. "I mean he's old. It shouldn't be that hard."
"Yeah, but dad said he has a brother, who's probably a nut job too."
Jason leaned back on his chair. "Well shit."
Hunter nodded standing up. "Shit is right, son. I want you two find him, before your mother finds out."
