Hadiza's lookalike
When they arrived at the restaurant, Hayden continued to stare at Anny. The waiter came to take their order, and after he left, Hayden kept staring at Anny.
"Are you going to keep staring at me or say something?" Anny asked, looking vexed.
"I just feel that you two really look like each other, or should I say you are the same person." Hayden still could not believe that she was not Hadiza.
"Who are you talking about?" Anny asked angrily because Hayden kept making the same mistake by calling her Hadiza when she is not. Hayden cleared his throat.
"Actually... are you by any chance a twin? I mean, do you have a twin sister?" He looked curious while asking.
"I mean... did you have any twin sisters?" He could not believe that this person sitting in front of him was not Hadiza. He had known Hadiza for many years.
Two years after their parents died, his brother was always sad because of their death. When it came to something like that, his brother was really emotional, and he could not really cope after their parents died. He also took over the company at that time, and with the pressure from the company on his brother, he fell apart. But it was Hadiza who helped him get it together. Hadiza was like a solace to his brother, which was why it seemed that his brother could not leave without her after the incident.
Hayden looked closely at Anny sitting in front of him. The person he knew was no different from the person sitting in front of him now. When Anny saw that Hayden was lost in thought and kept staring at her, she waved her hand before his face.
"Hello," Hayden was brought back from his thoughts. Anny smirked and said,
"Mr. Hayden, I was really surprised yesterday when you suddenly approached me and called me a name." Anny paused and looked at him closely.
"I was scared, I thought you were a kidnapper or a psycho." She glanced at him to see if he was angry with her words.
"I'm sorry but a stranger suddenly comes to me and starts saying all kinds of things," she looked serious as she was explaining and gesticulating, but Hayden smiled.
Anny was surprised; she looked pissed off.
"Why is he smiling?" she thought angrily.
"Did I say something funny?" She looked at him and frowned. Hayden noticed that Anny looked angry because he smiled.
"I'm sorry for smiling at your words," Hayden said.
"But you are just like her, or maybe you are even her," Hayden told Anny.
"This is exactly how she reacts when she is serious," Hayden explained to Anny.
When Anny heard Hayden's reason for smiling, she sighed deeply.
"Here he comes again," she thought and shook her head at him frustratingly.
"Mr. Hayden, I don't know who you are talking about or the person you take me for. I am not her; I am just me and a twin sister. Or what did you say?" Anny smiled bitterly.
"I don't have any twin sisters. I was born alone, no twin sister," she said matter-of-factly. She was really frustrated because it seemed that Hayden did not believe her.
When Hayden saw that it seemed that Anny was somehow telling the truth, he stared at her with a serious face and said,
"There was this girl my brother Fred was dating some years ago. But she suddenly vanished into thin air, and we could not find her anywhere." He continued,
"My brother was very much in love with this girl. The girl is just like you, or let me say... maybe you are the girl."
After Anny heard him say she's the girl again, she sighed and shook her head in frustration because she didn't know what to do with his adamant behavior. She had already told him that she wasn't who he thought she was.
Anny didn't know what to do with a psycho like him. Also, why should she believe his story? Anny smirked looking at Hayden without saying anything.
When Hayden noticed that Anny didn't seem to believe him, he brought out his phone and showed her the picture of Hadiza. Anny was so shocked seeing herself on Hayden's phone.
"Where did you get my picture?" she asked Hayden with surprise, as if he was a scam or a con artist. Hayden looked at her and sighed:
"It seems that you misunderstand me", Hayden said, continuing to show Hadiza's pictures with himself and his brother to Anny.
Anny could not believe her eyes. It seemed that this person was her. The smile, the face, the stature, everything about her. Anny's eyes almost fell from their sockets when she saw Hadiza's pictures.
"Do you believe me now?" Hayden asked when he saw that Anny was shocked.
"What did you say her name is?" Anny immediately asked when she saw that the person looked exactly like her. She could not believe that someone else would look exactly like her.
"Hadiza," Hayden replied instantly. Anny sighed, looking as if she was thinking about something.
"And her age?" Anny asked again.
"She should be twenty-three by now," Hayden answered. Anny was more surprised because she was also twenty-three.
Hayden stared at Anny to see if she was trying to remember him or his brother, or maybe she lost her memory that she could not remember them. He did not believe that two different people that looked so much alike could exist in this world without any relation, and they were not even twins. So, he thought that Anny was definitely Hadiza.
Anny was speechless; she was just looking at Hayden in a daze. Then the waiter brought the food and served them.
"Thank you," Hayden said to the waiter with a smile, and the waiter left after serving the food. Hayden turned to Anny:
"Let's eat before the food gets cold".
"Alright," Anny replied, and they started eating. They were both silent and did not talk for some time.
"Mr. Hayden," Anny suddenly broke the silence.
"I understand what you are saying about the girl...," she paused, forgetting her name.
"What is her name again?"
"Hadiza," Hayden quickly replied.
"Hadiza," Anny said, nodding her head and continued:
"I want to sincerely tell you that I am not her. I have never left this country before, and also, I did not have any twin sister, nor did I have any sister that looked exactly like me". Anny paused because she felt frustrated explaining:
"My mother gave birth to me alone, no twin sister. If you don't believe me, you can come to my house and check my childhood pictures". She looked into Hayden's eyes to see if he believed her or not because it seemed that Hayden did not seem to believe her.
Hayden sighed because it seemed that Anny was telling the truth. They both kept silent for a long time before Anny asked again in a low voice,
"So why are you looking for this person?" Anny was curious to know.
Hayden gazed at Anny for a long time. He rubbed his face out of habit and sighed deeply. Since they had already finished eating their food, Hayden said,
"Can we take a walk?" He looked at Anny differently.
"Even if she is not Hadiza, it might also be good to tell her everything," Hayden thought.
"Sure," Anny replied, and they both left the restaurant to take a walk.
