MARRY ME
"Oh, I was careless, Mr. Lewis. Thank you!" Despite her unease, Diana nodded gratefully, took the phone from Knox's grip with both hands, and cooperated with him in this scene.
Knox turned around after resolving Diana's embarrassment. He didn't see anything despite pretentiously swiping her phone earlier. When he returned the phone, it was simply a "reminder" to her.
When Diana thought she finally had peace in her heart, she heard Knox mumble something.
"Diana, remember last night's incident…. wait for me."
Diana is an adult, and it's not that she can't affirm the "incident." However, she wanted to treat what happened last night as a dream.
'I don't know if the name "Diana" is what he said. Is it bad luck or good luck?' Diana thought with a nervous heart again. 'He has so many opportunities; how can he take this matter to heart?'
…
Diana hadn't seen Knox in over a month. Even if there is a group meeting, it would be an executive conference only. She was just a "sitting on the fence" intern.
Throughout the month, Diana thinks about Knox, remembering the love affair he wanted to talk about but let go of. She also worried that she wouldn't be able to stay in the Lewis Group as long as she wanted.
That night won't get away from her mind, whether Diana admitted it or not. After all, it's her first time.
As she pondered what had happened for the whole month, the intercom phone on her desk rang.
"Diana?" The other end asked.
Diana was flustered, but her face was puzzled: 'Why does this voice sound like that person?'
Knox's magnetic voice has repeatedly appeared in Diana's mind since "that night," so this voice is not unfamiliar to Diana.
"Um…"
"Come to my office."
"H-huh?"
"Come to my office." The other end repeated.
"Oh..!"
Diana's heart beat like a drum and thought. 'It shouldn't be about work. I mean, we have a considerable difference in positions. Is it a team-building thing? Does he want me to leave to prevent more people from knowing what happened that day?
After all of her thought, nothing had been answered until she found herself at Knox's front office. Before knocking, she took a few deep breaths.
After knocking on Knox's door, Diana discovered she was as careless as the day she joined the company because she looked at him from head to toe.
This look made Diana's heart even more chaotic...
"Is there anything wrong with my face?"
Only then did Diana come back to her senses, "Huh?"
Knox did not continue to tease the stubborn lady but instead said something seriously.
"How about marrying me?"
Diana frowned slightly again, "Huh?"
The topic and Diana's thoughts were a hundred and eight thousand miles apart.
She looked left and right. Perhaps Knox was talking to someone else. However, there was no one else in the office.
"I'm just talking to you."
"Ahm... C-can you repeat what you said?"
"Marry me." Knox said without hesitation.
Only then did Diana's mind slowly return to the phrase "marry me."
She has one month until she graduates from college. She had considered marriage, but she now has no desire to do so.
'Is Knox testing me? After all, for the president, being slept on by an intern is not just a disadvantage but also a bad effect. He probably wants to see if I have any irrational thoughts.' Diana guessed.
Diana's mood is a little erratic. Knox's warm embrace and those eyes were too much for her. She is different from other women, and she also knows that Knox and her being together is impossible in this life; what more to the next life? She doesn't want to make her hopes high.
The reason why Knox wanted to marry a woman who was not in the wealthiest family was not that he liked her.
Thinking of Knox's "reminder" to her the day he returned the phone, Diana became more and more sure: 'This man was afraid that I might cause trouble to him.'
So, she lied, "I have a boyfriend."
"Did he talk about marriage?"
"Ahm... no! After all, I haven't graduated yet, so we don't have a plan yet." Diana pretended to be calm to avoid this dangerous man.
"How many years has your relationship with him been? How developed is it?" Knox was unexpectedly concerned about Diana's personal affairs.
Diana didn't know what he needed to know, so she blurted out, "We... live together."
"I'm worried he will overthink things and won't talk about sleeping with me anymore."
"Sleep with him?" Knox frowned slightly. That night she was obviously... virgin.
Diana knew what Knox thought when she saw his doubts, so she quickly added, "We'd been talking about him for years, and we finally moved in together after returning from the team-building. After all, he had just moved out of the dorm and found the right house for us."
"Why don't you ask me why I wanna marry you?" Knox was not shocked when he heard that Diana had a boyfriend.
"Why?"
"My grandfather is seriously ill and wants to see me get married before dying, but I don't have a girlfriend. As for why I'm looking for you, you know the reason better than anyone else. I've looked around, and you're the most suitable." Knox sat in an office chair in a tone that everything was under control.
The words "you are the most suitable" inevitably hurt Diana's self-esteem. She has already slept with him. It is indeed the most "suitable."
If he said it to someone else, the "most suitable" may be a compliment, but now that he said it to Diana, the woman thinks that Knox thinks lowly of her. Although she knew Knox wouldn't marry her because she "liked" her, Diana was still disappointed when she heard Knox's reason.
'It seemed that he not only remembered what happened that night but also unequivocal.' Diana got bitter. Moreover, Knox's voice slightly revealed his disdain for Diana. Although he asked Diana for help, he still had contempt for Diana in his heart. That's right, in his eyes, she's just a woman who has a relationship with her boss on purpose. She slept with him but "intentionally" left her phone in his room.
In Knox's eyes, she desired a golden turtle son-in-law to capture him while disguised as a "white lotus," how could she expect him to look up to her or even respect her?
