HUSBAND

Lewis Group is located a long distance from the school. As for Diana, she shared a two-bedroom apartment close to the workplace, making it more convenient for her to commute when working. On the other side, now that their father has passed away, Chris has moved back home with their mother.

On Saturday at 10 a.m., in the morning, Knox picked up Diana at her apartment. Diana cooperated with Knox's suggestion and dressed suitably, sporting a white T-shirt, a red miniskirt, and white sneakers while seeming youthful and vivacious. Knox did not drive alone; instead, he asked Diana to sit in the back seat with him.

When Luciana entered the vehicle, Knox merely gazed at her and remained silent. Upon entering the highway, Diana suddenly recalled a question: 'Does Knox's and I prenuptial agreement include this?'

She signed the agreement confusedly due to her lack of clarity regarding this issue. She is broke and acts like an insane woman. Since it was a show for grandpa, and they were shortly headed to grandpa's house, they would be forced to spend the night together. Would he ask to do 'it?'

Upon considering this, Diana's mind jerked abruptly. She did not know whether the driver knew the marriage contract between her and Knox. Afraid she might step the boundaries she has no meaning to cross, she sent Knox a WeChat message.

[Mr. Lewis, does our agreement include this?]

After hearing the phone ring, Knox slowly took up the phone and opened WeChat. Diana sat upright, but she could tell from the corner of her eyes that Knox's WeChat message was incredibly reckless. She firmly gripped her phone.

After a while, the phone displays, "1 contact has sent one message."

She opened her phone and navigated to the "Passerby" chat log.

[Which one?]

Diana's head was on the verge of exploding. In response to her tense inquiry, he was sloppy. 'Does he really not know what I'm talking about?'

[You know what it is.] Diana but her lower lip.

[What do you think?]

Diana's phone rang after some time, and her eyes opened widely while her cheeks started to blush. She became mute upon viewing the responses on her phone. Her hand was involuntarily fumbling on the keyboard, unsure what to do.

When she ultimately decided not to answer anymore, Knox's voice suddenly rang in her ears, "I'm a passerby?"

"A-Ah?" Diana's heart trembled, stunned for a minute before she composed herself, "I-It is purely a codename. I'm concerned that others may discover our relationship if I write your name. I did not broadcast our relationship to everyone; rather, I kept it a secret."

Knox was too lethargic to converse with Diana, so he again turned his head to gaze out the window. When Diana noticed that Knox didn't plan to argue with her anymore, she couldn't help but think as she looked at his beautiful eyes. 'Why is Knox so gentle? Is he not in a mood to argue?'

"A-Ahm… anyway, that night… did you use a condom, Mr. Lewis? And if we will do it, did you bring any?" Diana turned to Knox and inquired intently since Knox did not respond via WeChat. She did not care whether the driver knew or not. She must not be pregnant because she wants to take the exam, be a strong woman, and earn money; she cannot allow pregnancy to impede her progress.

'Are girls so unreserved,' Knox wondered as he turned his head to face Diana after hearing her question. He sighed and replied softly while turning his head on the window again. "I didn't take it, and I didn't bring any."

The anxiousness made Diana swallow her saliva and pause to reflect: If he didn't bring a condom, likely, he didn't want to do it. He probably thought I, an intern, had made him feel poor the last time, and he felt horrible about it. He was so careful this time, so how could this trick him again? Also, as the respectable CEO of Lewis Group International, how could he let a young intern carry his child?'

It was four o'clock in the afternoon when they reached New England.

"Pay attention to the name you call me, Diana," Knox warned before getting off the vehicle.

"Huh? Why?"

"Don't call Mr. Lewis."

Diana stared at Knox for a while before she exhaled and answered that made Knox turn his head to her.

"Okay, husband."

"It's likely that you call your boyfriend this way a lot. These days, girls are very open," Knox replied as he felt strangely uneasy.

Nevertheless, Diana knew in her heart that Knox had given her so much money, so it was only natural that he wanted to make the play more real. She has always been dedicated to her work, not the kind of prankster who is forced to work. She is very knowledgeable about current affairs.

Diana became solemn as soon as she got to the grandfather's house. She knew she would be comforting an old man who was very sick and afraid that something she did unintentionally would upset him. She reminded herself to always be on guard.

Aron, Knox's grandfather, was a professor at New England Law School. He enjoys great respect in the legal community and even appeared as a guest on television to explain some legal issues in marriage. It makes sense why Knox previously claimed that his grandfather would notice if he had fake certificates. How could a learned person fail to recognize that the marriage license is a forgery?

Just a year ago, Knox's grandmother passed away, and his grandfather received a lung cancer diagnosis this year. He has had a close bond with his grandparents since he was a young child. His grandfather wishes to see that his grandson's life is complete before he leaves this world. He doesn't want to fail his grandpa's last wishes as a grandson.

"How old are you, sweetie?" Aron asked Diana while gazing lovingly at her from head to toe.

"Twenty-three," Knox is the one who answered.

Diana was stunned for a moment and wondered how Knox was able to determine her age. But after giving it some thought, she realized that she gave her ID card to him to take a glance before signing up, and just that glance caused him to respond to his grandfather in a way that was appropriate and natural. He is a master who can see ten steps in one step.

"A lot younger than you. Eight years younger?"

"Yes," Knox smiled and said in a gentle tone that Diana rarely heard.

Grandpa smiled kindlier, "She is much younger than you; you must treat her well."

"Of course."

Diana and Knox were both seated on the sofa when Knox reached out and kissed Diana on the lips. Diana's body appeared to be swept by an electric current in an instant, becoming increasingly numb. Even though her palm was heavily perspiring, she wanted to take her hand off Knox but was afraid.

"Diana is an intern. She doesn't want people in the company to know about our marriage to stop rumors, but…." He gave Diana a sideways glance; his eyes appeared to be speaking. Observing Diana's somewhat mocking and closed-minded eyes, "We decided to let you know."

"It's regrettable for you to come here this time. The part-time worker I have taken over another job, and there was no one at home to cook, so let's go out to eat." Grandpa said; he suddenly thought of something, "If your grandma is still here, how good it is to make hand-rolled noodles for you. You have loved to eat since you were a child."

Aron's eyes were red in the circles before he could finish speaking. He was an intellectual who used to live with his wife and never looked for any workers. After grandma passed away, Knox always wanted to find grandfather a full-time worker and a few nurses.

"I've been telling you that I should find you a full-time worker---"

"I am half dead. Don't worry about that."

Diana stood up and exclaimed, "I can make hand-rolled noodles. If Grandpa doesn't mind, I'll make it. I frequently make it for Knox. Right, husband?"

She volunteered for several reasons, including being moved by the story of Aron and the grandmother. She also did it for the money because, as she clearly recalled from the agreement, a delicious meal was supposed to cost $20,000. Furthermore, grandpa ought to be overjoyed and relieved to leave because their "conjugal love" was genuine.

Knox was sitting on the sofa, with his legs crossed and one hand caressing his chin. He didn't expect Diana to be so active. He didn't know whether she wanted to take the opportunity to "fake the show and do it for real" or was purely acting, but the state of acting was utterly more than professional actors.

After seeing through Diana's expression, Knox's eyes moved meaningfully across her face, pulled the corners of his lips, and remarked, "Yes, Grandpa. Let her go."
