Son Meets Father (1)
SON MEETS FATHER [1]
They arrived at the school's gate and the mother and son pair were stunned. The school was even more beautiful than Evelyn had seen on the internet. Tom was also happy that he would start attending this big and beautiful school. Suddenly, all his sadness for school disappeared and he was now eager to be in school uniforms just like his mates that he was seeing.
Evelyn got closer to the security guard and greeted him. He was a middle-aged man, judging from his looks and he probably had the strength to fight off any physical attack that did not include the use of a gun or any sharp objects. At least, schools were now thinking twice before employing security personnel, and considering that this was like a rich kid school, the security was tight.
This made Evelyn happy because she remembered the last school that Tom attended in Country B. It was nothing like this one in terms of looks, teachings, uniforms, etc. But there was one incident that happened back then that still caught up to any parents' memories that day it happened.
There was a huge robbery that was being pulled by some gangs in a bank not too far from the school and as precisely their behavior, they had to get violent so they could leave quickly. There were shootings everywhere and people had to look for places to hide and keep themselves safe.
The gateman or better known in front of the kids as a security man was snoring heavily outside when he heard the gunshots. He jumped up to his feet and ran away from the gate, the students were already panicking as the teachers tried their best in calming them down and hopefully waiting that the gateman who claimed to have retired from the army would come up with some strategy but it was quite shocking and hilarious when they say him ran in and close the door, he was breathing hysterically and he started crying, saying some words that were hard to listen to.
When the kids saw that their security man who had boasted to them about killing thousands of terrorists in battles with just a single gun and only him on the battlefield was crying, their crying as well intensified.
It was a day that couldn't be forgotten that easily.
Back to the present, the guard stared at Evelyn with a hint of doubt in his eyes as he heard her speak.
"I am serious, sir. Here is the proof." Evelyn showed her that she had screenshots on her laptop.
"I understand, madam but we still need…"
"Let her in." A young lady ordered. She was about Evelyn's size, maybe a little bit older and more mature than her. She could easily pass off Evelyn's older sister but not in terms of the same look. She was wearing a floral dress that had ribbons at the front and even though her hair was cut too short, it still fitted her as a young beautiful lady
Her presence was carrying this wave of power and authority with her that Evelyn and Tom couldn't help gulping but then she smiled when Evelyn entered the school.
"Hello, there. I guess you must be new here." She said and Evelyn nodded.
"Yes, I am Evelyn and this is my son, Tom. He is three."
"Wow, hello there, Tom."
"Hello," Tom replied cutely and the young woman couldn't help giggling silently. She had such an affection for cute kids. Evelyn praised Tom in her head, the logic ' use what you have to get what you want ' was impressively useful in today's situation.
"I filled in the admission form yesterday and did the necessary online payments…"
"Oh, that is good. We are about to close down the admission, thank goodness that you arrived early. By the way, my name is Silver and I am the President or headmistress of Primus International Kids." She introduced herself.
'No wonder.' Evelyn thought.
"Come with me to my office then." Silver said.
As they walked past the rows of buildings, she started talking to them about the rules and some of the things they have that could benefit a child and would want to make them learn faster than ever. There was a large playground…each sports activity that wasn't strenuous had its sports ground, be it basketball, football, tennis courts, etc, and both the senior and junior were allowed to use them during breaks or permission to do so.
Only the last set of the high school was allowed to have fun at these places without waiting for breaks, as long as they had a free period and not a reading period, then they were free. They were also known as the last graders as it would be the last grade in the school before setting off for colleges and universities.
"Wow, I am impressed and I do not doubt that my son will learn the best here," Evelyn said as her eyes roamed over the small book she was giving to aid her in understanding every explanation Silver had made.
"I can't agree less. Our school is the best and you are only allowed to pay twice. We don't accept any form of misconduct as there won't be a second chance given to such a child anymore. He might be suspended or expelled so don't forget to ring the bell when you are with him." Oliver advised.
"Of course, thank you."
"You are welcome. These are some other pieces of information that you need to feel in case there happens to be an emergency. Here is the list of books and other necessary commodities that you are expected to buy at the School's Supermarket. It's right opposite the library so he can start school tomorrow." Oliver pushed a paper to her and Evelyn picked it up to read, she smiled and nodded.
"Thank you."
"Before I forget, these are the Student Identity Cards you paid for online. We give each student two ID cards and that's all for the whole time they will spend with us. You could see that entering the school involves scanning your card, right? Exactly, so give him one and keep one for future use."
"Thank you once again for your warmness. We will get going then if there is nothing else."
"Sure. Bye and have fun while in school, little one." Oliver waved her hand.
"I will," Tom replied and smacked his lips before following his mother.
They climbed down the stairs and Evelyn searched for the Supermarket with her eyes until she found it.
She then faced Tom.
"Tom, don't leave this place, you can see how crowded it is, right? So don't leave this place until I come to pick you up. I just need to get some things for you, am I clear?" She warned sternly.
"Loud and clear, mum."
"Very good then. I will be back shortly." She kissed his forehead and went towards the supermarket while Tom pretended to be a good boy within the few minutes she had left.
His green eyes were following everyone's movement until they landed on a huge cone of ice cream that a student was holding in front of the store. It was an ice cream store.
"Wow, an ice cream store in a school? Cool!" He said happily and started moving inches that soon turned into feet and then a long distance from the spot his mother had warned him not to leave.
He was now standing in front of the store with keenness and admiration for the ice cream which was slowly leading to a wild hunger for it.
"Hey, kid, what are you doing here? Go back to class and wear your uniform." The ice cream seller spoke and continued with his work but Tom didn't even move an inch as he looked at the various ice creams that the man had brought out with his doe eyes.
Raphael's car drove into the school's compound. It was a white Corolla that he brought today. The guards already knew who he was so whenever he was meant to come to the school, the President would let them know so they wouldn't misbehave and also, so they could be prepared.
Jeremy gently drove the car while the students made their way quickly as the bell rang signaling the beginning of the first class for the day. Jeremy parked the car in one of the spaces in the school's garage and Raphael stepped down from the car with his cold gaze.
This was the admiration he had for the school, just within a minute of the bell ringing, the students had rushed in but as he was about to walk into the President's building, he sighted a young boy in front of the ice cream shop and it seemed like the vendor wasn't paying any attention to him.
"Do you want me to take care of him, sir?" Jeremy asked. What the child wanted was there so no there was no need for further description.
"Nevermind. I will do it myself." Raphael said and started walking towards the shop.
When he got closer to the place, the vendor raised his head and smiled. He suddenly became nervous. This was the first time Raphael would come here, was he interested in his ice cream? Then he glanced at the child, what was he still doing here? Was he going to ruin his work?
"Hello, sir." The man greeted but Raphael bent to Tom's size, ignoring the man's greeting.
"Hello there, handsome." He said to Tom and he looked at the stranger.
Jeremy who was behind felt like he had been struck by electricity. He removed his glasses, even the ice cream seller was confused.
"What in the world?" Jeremy whispered when he saw the striking resemblance between the two.
