Heartbreak
Evelyn walked out of the room in her heels and strolled past the rooms while admiring the design until her eyes met with a certain number 42. She paused and looked at the key in her hand before diverting her attention to the number on the door.
Wait, it suddenly dawned on her. She was supposed to be in Room 42 and not 24. She swallowed hard, maybe it was just her imagination. She must be overthinking things but then, she looked at the keys in her hands, there was no difference in their writing as it could be interchangeably seen as 24 instead of 42 or 42 instead of 24.
She twisted the handle of the door to settle her curiosity, the door was locked so she proceeded in using the key. There was this tiny voice in her head that was telling her that what she was about to do was wrong…that it was an invasion of privacy but there was this silent part in her that was pushing her to do this but whatever it was…she was going to do it.
She pushed the door open after unlocking it but what greeted her sight was unbearable and unbelievable. Even screaming at that moment was difficult to do.
"Hey! Are you lost?! How can you come in without knocking?" A man yelled at her. It was no other than her fiance, Jade, despite the AC, he was still sweating profusely.
No one needed to explain to an outsider what had been happening before the sudden barge-in. It was clear! It was evident and somehow outrageous because his partner in crime was no other than her stepsister, Ruby.
They were both standing naked and were even shocked to see her. But Evelyn was the most confused among them as she did not understand what was going on, maybe she shouldn't have listened to that voice but now that she has…she was so speechless.
"Evelyn, what are you doing here?" Jade asked nervously.
"You sent me a message yesterday that we were to meet in a hotel…you…you were with me last night, right?" Evelyn asked nervously.
"What the f*ck are you saying? The message was a mistake and nothing else, I didn't even call you or see you for about a week now." Jade answered back as he tied up his towel.
Evelyn shifted back in shock, if Jade wasn't the one who slept with her last night…who took her virginity then who was the man? Did she have sex with a stranger last night? But that aside, why was her step-sister with her fiance?
"But why are you with her? You cheated on me." She accused him. Jade chuckled.
"It seems that you are back on Earth. I didn't cheat on you."
"Liar! Jade, what is the meaning of all these? How could you have done such a thing as evil as this? She is my stepsister and you are my fiance!"
"And so f*cking what, huh? How dare you just enter our room like a stray dog and then start yelling at us? Do you know that this is an offense under the law? If you don't know then let me tell you, it's an invasion of privacy and you are sure guilty of it." Ruby flared up.
Evelyn turned lifeless instantly. Ruby and She didn't get along pretty well from the very time that they met each other, she was always trying to fight with her, and take what belongs to her for her greedy reasons. Until they became older, Ruby was spoiled and treated like a princess while she was made to work just to please her father but seeing her with Jade…she already crossed the line.
"Shut up! Just keep that mouth of yours shut?! How can you do this to me, Ruby? I know…I know that we don't get along pretty well but going behind my back and stabbing me is nonsense."
Ruby laughed as she stood up, she went to hug Jade in such a way considered disgusting by Evelyn. Jade wrapped his arms around her while the other hand was used in pressing her breast, Ruby then wrapped her left leg around his waist while feeling something below poking her, she moaned delightfully before glancing at her half-sister happily.
Evelyn was red from anger, her body was trembling and she was trying so hard not to cry but it was such a painful sight to see. How could he do this to her?
"It's nobody's fault that you can't please a man…it's nobody's fault that you can't take good care of the man you call your fiance. Everything else that happened is your fault so don't blame anybody." Ruby said with a wink before grinding her hips against Jade's little brother.
Evelyn couldn't watch it anymore, this was disgusting. She bolted out of the room in tears, when the receptionist saw her leaving, she tried stopping her but she entered her car and zoomed off immediately after starting the engine.
As Evelyn drove, she burst out into another fresh tear. He said the message was a mistake. That was a lie, she didn't believe it, Jade intentionally did this to annoy her, how could he?! How dare he?! Who was the man she slept with last night?! How could she be this foolish?! What is going to happen now?
PRESENT TIME.
Kira resigned from talking about the issue any further because seeing the look on her friend's face at the moment, she looked determined even more than a person who wants to win a Guinness record.
"Alright then. It is your choice and I will support it as long as it is right. You are Tom's mother so you will definitely choose the option that will be better for you two." She spoke softly while Evelyn nodded.
"Yes, thank you."
"You are welcome, now it's time for me to start my gist for the main period," Kira said with a grin.
"I am all ears."
Kira immediately turned into a parrot presenter and started talking very fast that the only name Evelyn could think of at that moment in likening her friend to was THE FLASH.
After much free time talking and eating snacks, Kira decided to leave. It was a special moment for them and Evelyn made sure to call Kira every five minutes to check up on her until she arrived home.
A FEW DAYS LATER.
"Yay, free time." Evelyn squealed and bounced on her bed with her laptop. She was putting on a transparent black top and yellow bum shorts to go with it.
Her hair was tied into a messy bun style and she had glasses on that made her look professional. It's been a few days since she arrived here, Tom was spending almost all his time with Kira at her place so staying at home alone was cooler than she imagined.
Since it's been days since she arrived here with her son, she just wanted them to start afresh. She logged into her system and went to certain different websites to search for good schools that she could probably afford. That was the only thing that Kira did not do on their behalf; find a better school for her son.
While scrolling through the list of schools, she came across one that caught her attention.
"Primus international kids." She muttered the name as her eyes read it. She quickly clicked on the link to read the School's prospectus and to say that she didn't love it was a lie. She was so interested in this school that she didn't think twice before filling out the registration form online and submitting it.
If it was about the payment, she had no problem with it. Anything she did, as long as it was for Tom, she wouldn't mind diving into the deepest part of the ocean for his sake.
After finishing Tom's school, she checked her emails but she was yet to receive any. Since she arrived, she has been looking for companies that required a secretary. Because of the incident that happened to her three years ago, she had to start taking online classes and it helped a lot but staying at home while hopefully awaiting answers was crazy for her.
____________
"What's next in my schedule, Jeremy?" Raphael asked as he blew air into his hot cocoa.
"The Chairman has ordered that you visit Primus international kids tomorrow. He said that it is very important." Jeremy replied.
"Yes, he says that all the time." Raphael mocked and closed his eyes.
"Clear my schedule for tomorrow then."
"Alright, boss."
Raphael still couldn't get one thing straight, why was his dad so much invested in this school? It could not be because he loved kids that much. Maybe he wanted to make his business out of it. It was confusing for him but he had no choice but to obey. After all, it was just a mere visit and nothing else.
