I Deserve The Best

The next morning, Hazel woke up early to make breakfast for Coyle before he left for work, but she was too late as he had already left before she woke up.

She freshened up and slipped into the normal clothes she had come with; her gaze was stuck on the luxurious ring on her fingers.

"He will never find out if I take it out," Hazel thought, but she was a little scared. What even scared her the most were her colleagues at work asking her so many questions about the man she married, as it was obvious that Nady had already made them all know she didn't marry Max.

With a heavy heart, she took out the ring and kept it safely in her purse before she walked to the entrance.

"Hello Mrs. Anderson, I am Josh." A man dressed in a white shirt and black trousers who was in his late thirties introduced himself, and Hazel nodded with a smile.

"I will take you to work," he said, and she shook her head at the negative.

"It's fine. I will take a cab."

"Mr. Anderson said you are not allowed to leave without a driver," he added. Coyle had given him a strict order to make sure to drive Hazel around, or he might just kiss his job goodbye.

Hazel had no choice but to go with Josh; he didn't ask for her location, as Coyle already told him to drive his wife to work and also told him the company.

Minutes later, he parked the car in front of Apex, an advertising company that was ranked the tenth amongst the top ten best in the country.

Hazel walked down the car and waved at Josh before she went into the company and walked to the elevator, which took her to the second floor.

"Hello Hazel"

"Hello Hazel"

They greeted her from every cubicle she passed, and once she was out of sight, they all whispered to each other.

"Can you believe Nady married Max Wilson instead?"

"It's so hard to believe; it's not as if Nady is prettier than Hazel, so how come?"

"Do men just marry pretty women? Nady is a perfect and very smart girl; I won't blame any man for choosing her over Hazel."

They kept muttering and only stopped when they heard the loud sound of heels clicking on the hard floor. A lady stood there with a frown.

She was dressed in a blue shirt and pencil skirt; it was the art director Mia, who was also Hazel's boss.

Mia was in her late twenties and also very astonishing; she frowned at the workers. "Did this place turn into a gossip hall?" she asked, and they all shook their heads embarrassedly.

"Hazel is my secretary, and talking behind her is a slap to my face, understood?" Mia asked, and they nodded before she walked to her office. Hazel hurried towards her.

"Good day, Mia." Hazel greeted with a smile, and Mia rolled her eyes before she walked to her office and closed the door.

Hazel sighed heavily before she walked to her cubicle and decided to catch up with everything she missed when she was on leave.

It was more than an hour, and Hazel was done; she was about to go meet Mia when she received a phone call from Nady.

"Why is she calling?" Hazel thought, and hesitantly she connected the call.

"Hello sister?" Nady said in a melodic tone.

"Hello"

"I will stop by the Anderson mansion tonight so we could share a cup of coffee; what do you think?" Nady asked, and Hazel's brows furrowed.

Why was Nady talking like they were on good terms? After everything she did to her, and now she was feigning to have amnesia?

"Do you plan to slip poison into my coffee? No thanks," Hazel snorted and ended the call. Right now, she was over the fact that Nady and Max had betrayed her. The only thing that bothered her was the fact that they even had plans to kill her after the marriage.

What type of sister plans another's death?

"Hazel," Mia called, and Hazel hurried to her office. Mia was on a phone call and pointed at the empty glass of coffee to Hazel, who quickly left to make another coffee.

Hazel returned with the coffee, and this time around, Mia was done with the phone call. She pushed three folders towards Hazel. "You should go through this and try to summarize it; it's a lot for me."

"Also, I have a conference to attend. They say Coyle Anderson will be present, so I will try to have a conversation with him." Mia had a bright smile when she mentioned Coyle Anderson.

"Coyle Anderson?" Hazel asked, thinking she didn't hear her right.

"Hmm, for the past week I have been trying to fix an appointment with him, but it's impossible. So I will attend the conference and find a way to talk to him," Mia explained.

"So you are going to stalk him? And why do we need Coyle Anderson? Isn't he in a different line of business?" Hazel asked, confusedly. Shouldn't Mia be trying to link up with influential brand owners, or did they need an investor?

"Don't be stupid, Hazel; does my life revolve just around work?" She snorted and stood up, walking to the shelf, which displayed all the many awards she had achieved at such an early age.

"I feel I have accomplished a lot, and I deserve the best. I deserve the best man in the country, and that's Coyle Anderson, so I will be his wife." Mia had a determined and excited look; she walked towards Hazel and asked.

"Do you have doubts that I can be his wife?"

Hazel nodded before she whiffed her head in denial. "But... they say he is a living corpse; he might not be the best." Hazel was trying to change Mia's mind from going after her husband.

Mia clicked her tongue and placed her hand on Hazel's shoulders. "Only idiots believe what they see on the news; well, I have a smart secretary who will make my wish possible, right?"

Hazel shrugged her shoulders. How was she supposed to make her wish possible? She wasn't some magician or in the right position to help.
