Chapter 7

It was late afternoon when Siege and Amber stopped walking in the woods. They stopped at the riverbank. The surroundings are a bit dark.

"Tired?" Siege whispered to her.

"Ahm... No." Her answer.

But the truth of the matter is, her knees are shaking with exhaustion. they walk almost all day non-stop. Only now has this happened to her. She felt that her legs were numb with the intensity of the tired feeling. Siege smiled sparingly at her.

"You don't have to lie to me. I understand. Rest here first, I'll just get something to eat for dinner. We need strength for tomorrow, it will be difficult and we will have a long way to go."

"All right, I'm fine here."

She sat down on the side of the tree and leaned on it. Siege walked over to her and bowed. Her eyes widened as he suddenly kissed her on the lips. Smack kiss, that again.

"That's for good luck!" it speaks quickly.

Her lips parted and she looked at Siege in confusion. It gave her a foolish smile. Far from it she was still puzzled. She did not realize the moment because it seemed that not only her brain stopped but also the time. She did touch her own lips and seemed to feel his lips that had landed there earlier.

"Oh my!" she exclaimed.

She just moaned out of frustrations because of the speed of her heartbeat and she knew it wasn't because of the tiredness she was feeling. She also waited for a long time, she already felt impatient and very worried. A lot of negative thoughts was mingling on her mind. But it disappeared as she watched Siege approaching. She smiled and took a deep breath. She thought, she was going to die of anxiety. It was dark those times. Siege finally got closer to where she was.

"Darling, sorry ah? It took me a while. I just ask, are you picky when it comes to food? Are you a vegetarian?" Siege asked.

He put down the four pieces of coconut and their food which he wrapped in banana leaves. It was hard that his companion might be surprise when he exposed it immediately. Amber looked at Siege's belongings carefully.

"I'm not picky about food and I'm not vegetarian either." Amber's casual answer.

"That's good to hear. I won't have a hard time feeding you." relief language by Siege.

After that he picked up the woods around which they would use to create a bonfire. When he had accumulated a lot, he looked at Amber who was sitting in front and watching his every move. He smiled sparingly at it.

"Come here, darling. I need your help for our dinner. "Siege called.

"Ahm, okay."

Amber stood up and stroked her ass. She took a deep breath and walked closer to Siege. She looked curiously at the thick banana leaf he was carrying. What was wrapped there and that was supposed to be their dinner. What is that?

"What am I going to do?" she asked Siege.

"Ah, you just hold it tightly so that I can peel it and remove the internal organs before I grill."

She gasped and her eyes widened as he gently opened the banana leaves. The flesh was exposed to her then... A large python that was beheaded! She bit her lower-lip and looked at Siege puzzled. A faint laugh escaped it and shook his head at her. He obviously expected her reaction.

"That's delicious, its meat taste like chicken. Its meat is warm in the body."

"That's what we're going to eat?!" she exclaimed.

"Of course, darling."

She rubbed her forehead and rested a few times. She looked at the big headless python. Does she have a choice in this case eh nothing? She is not picky on food but she is not used eating exotic food.

"What will I do?" she asked boldly.

Amaze that Siege looked at her face with a smile. He then took off his pants and from there took out a large army knife strapped to his leg. It glowed and the blade was obviously very sharp. It has a brand of Men in Action.

"It's made of diamond dust. It can cut anything." with pride in this language.

Amber just kept quiet because she was stunned when she saw their dinner. It took of the python and slowly lifted it closer to her.

"Please hold on tight to the end, darling. I need to peel him."

Her lips parted as she finally handed him the python. None of her own she took it and touched it, the blood immediately stained on her hands. The part she touched was the beheading of the python. Siege stood up.

"Just tighten your grip, okay?"

She hesitated to nod at him. She grabbed the snake tightly... She frowned when she saw Siege cut the end of the python and gently peeled it. When it got enough size, it suddenly pulled the skin down on the snake's body. It's just like taking off the clothes. When Siege made sure that all the snake's skin had been removed, he took it from her. She swallowed steadily the whole moment. She did not want to see what it was doing to remove the skin but she did not want to close her eyes. The so-called curiosity prevailed over her. Siege stared at her with a smile.

"Thanks for the help, darling. How was that?" smiling this question.

"F-Freaky..?" her language weakened.

"Count it to an experience, darling." Siege laughed.

Siege walked over to the river and she followed him carefully. She washed her hands and saw that Siege was removing the snake's internal organs. It washed its body thoroughly soaked in the flowing water of the river. She couldn't seem to imagine that was their dinner. But, that's it... She was aware of what he was doing, as if nothing had happened. Obviously he is very good at what he does. Siege winked at her as it glanced at her so she suddenly turned her gaze in the other direction, she was annoyed. After she had washed her hands, she stood up and sat quietly in her former position. As soon as she sat down, Siege stood up. It laid on the clean banana leaves the purified python.

Siege then cut a tree branch and made that big barbecue stick. And when he finished, he then stabbed the python meat like a giant intestine. He made a bonfire and then put a stick to grill the meat. He waited for the wood to turn to charcoal before he cooked the meat for grilling.

"Tell me, why did you become a lawyer?" Siege ask suddenly to her..

She glanced behind it. She hesitates if she will tell a story.

"Why do you ask?" she just said.

"Just curious."

She took a deep breath and tearfully looked behind it. Her lips moved spontaneously to tell the story. She did not know why, but she was light-hearted about him even though she was sometimes annoyed by its gestures. Especially when it beats her in their debate when they disagree on something.

"I became a lawyer because that was the promise I made at my father's grave. You know, Dad was imprisoned for a sin he did not commit. He was framed up. I was young then. He died inside the jail because it was detonated by a bomb due to the war. He would have been free then because the real criminal was caught. But in the end, Mom and I still didn't get along with him. So I swore in his grave that I would be a good lawyer and that I would no longer allow what happened to him, to happen to others. I-If only I had known the law. if I had been grown up then, I would have been able to defend him and he would not have been imprisoned and suffered. He doesn't deserved that... Dad was a good man."

Tears welled up in her eyes and she sniffed. She could no longer restrain herself from becoming emotional. She looked at Siege, it was no longer in its seat. She did not notice that it left because her vision was blurred due to her crying. She was surprised to feel someone hug her from behind. Its arms are wrapped around her shoulders. She grabbed them and leaned on his body.

"I-I'm sorry about that... I'm sorry..." he apologized.

Then he gently kissed her on the forehead. He stroked her cheek and wiped away her tears. She smiled sparingly at its gesture ... She like that. Lighten her mood.

"You? Why did you become a soldier?" she ask.

He took a deep breath because of her question. He took her right hand and kissed it softly. It then presented its face to her. Siege stared intently on her face. The bonfire is the only light they serve but its light is enough for her to see his face clearly.

"I have no choice... I existed because of the war. My whole life was there to revolve and also because of that, I realized early on the cruelty of the world and what kind of law really should exist and be necessary. Believe me, everything is so unfair..."

It took a deep breath. She saw the tears well up in his eyes but it just stopped falling. He is restraining himself from crying.

"Did something happen?"

"Yes... Anyway, maybe my grill will burn. Excuse me."

It slowly loosened its grip on her. He slowly stood up and walked towards the bonfire. It overturned the grill and silence prevailed. She could smell the fragrant meat being cooked. Looks delicious. She looked at Siege curiously, turning his back on her. What could have happened here? That seems to be worse than her story. She wants you to know... But she was afraid, might Siege be angry with her but she was still curious? It is obvious that he avoids the topic.

After a while it took the grill from the bonfire and brought it to her. He took the clean banana leaf and laid it in front of her. It removed the pierced python meat on the large stick. It slices the meat. After that he also took the coconuts and peeled them with his very sharp army knife.

"Dinner is ready." Siege's announcement.

He sat down in front of Amber and she puzzledly stared at him. He smiled at her. She obviously hesitates whether to eat or not.

"First time you ate exotic?" he asked.

"Sort of..." Amber answered awkwardly.

"Don't be scared... It's not poisonous and I assure you that it tastes good. It looks like you are eating grilled chicken."

Amber stared at his face for a long time. And his heart skip a beat.
