Chapter 6

VANESSA.

I groaned as I knocked on Alpha Axel's door for what felt like the hundredth time. I had been assigned to help him start his day, but it seemed like he was determined to sleep in. I glanced at my watch, realizing that I was already running behind schedule.

"Alpha Axel, it's time to wake up!" I called out, trying to keep my frustration in check. But as the minutes ticked by with no response, my annoyance grew.

Finally, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I turned the handle and pushed open the door, striding into the room with a sense of purpose. But as I entered, I was met with a sight that made my heart skip a beat.

Alpha Axel emerged from the bathroom, a towel slung low around his hips, his chiseled body glistening with droplets of water. My eyes widened as I took in the sight, my mind struggling to process what I was seeing.

His broad chest and shoulders seemed to fill the room, his muscles rippling beneath his skin as he moved. His abs were defined, his hips narrow, and his legs strong and powerful. I felt my face flush as I realized I was staring, my gaze fixed on the Alpha's imposing form.

For a moment, we just stood there, locked in a silent standoff. I couldn't seem to look away, my eyes drawn to the Alpha's raw power and strength. And then, as if suddenly aware of my presence, he raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes.

"Vanessa," he said, his deep voice sending a shiver down my spine. "I didn't know you were so eager to start my day."

I felt my face burn with embarrassment as I realized my mistake. I had barged in unannounced, and now I was standing there, gawking at the Alpha like a fool. I tried to speak, but my voice caught in my throat.

"Alpha Axel, I-I mean...it's time for your morning routine," I stuttered, trying to recover my composure.

The Alpha chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I think I can handle my own routine, Vanessa," he said, his voice dripping with amusement. "But thank you for your concern."

I felt my face flush even deeper as I realized my mistake. I had overstepped my bounds, and now I was paying the price. I turned to leave, my eyes fixed on the floor, but the Alpha's voice stopped me.

"Vanessa," he said, his tone softer now. "Don't go. I could use some help getting ready for the day."

I hesitated, unsure of what to do. But as I turned back to face him, I saw something in his eyes that made my heart skip a beat. It was a glimmer of kindness, a hint of understanding, and it made me feel like maybe, just maybe, I wasn't in trouble after all.

As I turned back to face him, I saw the Alpha's eyes crinkle at the corners, his smile soft and inviting. He gestured for me to approach him, and I felt my heart race as I hesitated. But something about his expression put me at ease, and I found myself walking towards him, my feet moving as if of their own accord.

"Help me get dressed, Vanessa," he said, his voice low and husky. "I have a meeting with the Council this morning, and I want to make a good impression."

I nodded, my hands trembling slightly as I reached for the clothes he had laid out on the bed. I helped him into his shirt and pants, my fingers brushing against his skin as I worked. It was a gentle touch, but it sent shivers down my spine.

As I worked, the Alpha's eyes never left mine, his gaze piercing and intense. I felt like he could see right through me, like he knew all my secrets and desires. And yet, instead of feeling uncomfortable, I felt a sense of safety, like I was in good hands.

Finally, I finished dressing him, and he turned to face me, his eyes gleaming with approval. "You're very good at this, Vanessa," he said, his voice dripping with sincerity. "You have a talent for it."

I blushed, feeling a surge of pride at his words. "Thank you, Alpha," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

The Alpha's eyes narrowed, his gaze intense. "I think we can dispense with the formalities, don't you, Vanessa?" he said, his voice low and husky. "After all, we're going to be spending a lot of time together."

I felt my heart skip a beat as I realized what he was suggesting. Was he asking me to be his personal maid? Or was it something more? I couldn't quite tell, but I knew one thing for sure - I was eager to find out.

As I walked to the coffee machine, I couldn't help but think about the Alpha's body. His chiseled chest and strong arms were etched in my mind, and I couldn't shake the image of him emerging from the bathroom, towel slung low around his hips.

I felt a flutter in my chest as I reached the coffee machine, my hands trembling slightly as I poured the steaming hot coffee into a cup. I was so lost in thought that I didn't even notice the coffee overflowing until I heard the sound of liquid splashing on the counter.

I quickly grabbed a napkin to mop up the spill, my face flushing with embarrassment. How could I be so careless? I took a deep breath and composed myself, trying to focus on the task at hand.

The Alpha had sent me to get his coffee from the break room on the second floor. It was a small room with a few tables and chairs, and a coffee machine that always seemed to be in use. I had been there many times before, but today it felt different. Today, everything felt different.

As I made my way back to the Alpha's office, coffee in hand, I couldn't help but wonder what the day had in store for me. Would I be able to keep my composure around him, or would I

falter and reveal my true feelings? Only time would tell.
