A slap
The sound of chaos echoed from the hall where everyone was gathered. What was supposed to be a happy day turned Into chaos as the sound of wolves howling, flesh tearing and whimpers and grunts filled the room. The nauseating scent of blood filled the Once sweet and pleasant air. In just a matter of a minute, I witnessed the biggest terror of my life.
“ What's happening here?" Alicia shrieked just in time for a vampire to lunge at her, ready to tear her to pieces.
“ It's a bloody attack can't you see?" I shouted at her after pushing her away and tackling the vampire.
With one snap of its neck, the blood sucker laid on the floor, lifeless.
“ Why don't you move your lazy ass and seek cover or I'm not coming to your rescue again." I snapped at her, annoyed.
Everyone was busy fighting while she stood there, like the fool she was. I couldn't help but wonder what Damian saw in her. She can't even protect herself in a bloody fight. How the hell would she protect the people when she becomes Luna?
Alicia glared at me but still did as Instructed. She knew better than to risk her life with zero fighting skills as I observed.
The fight continued for several minutes. The vampires seemed to be holding back from their attack. It seemed more like they were looking for something and not attacking.
“ Are you alright?" Damian asked and I could see the concern etched on his face. I couldn't help but smile foolishly seeing him concerned about me. This was the Damian I knew and came to love, my Sweet mate.
“ Don't worry. I was trained by the best." I replied with a wink.
Growing up, I trained personally under my brother and let me tell you, the training sections were intense, nothing a woman could take but I did.
I promised him that I'll be Strong and help him run the pack in the future and I worked really hard to fulfil my dream.
Damian smiled back and went back to attacking the enemies.
In a moment of distraction as I stupidly admired him looking all sexy fighting, a vampire scratched off my back, tearing a large section of my dress and exposing my mark.
I heard gasps before realization hit me.
Looking around in horror, everyone around seemed concentrated on one thing, the mark that was glowing brightly under the moon illuminating the whole hallway.
“ It's her! She is the One." A vampire shouted, making me frown.
“ Retreat!" Another one shouted and in less than a minute, no vampire could be spotted leaving the few of us standing there awkwardly, afraid of facing the elephant in the house.
“ Mia…” Damian called, looking at me with a questioning gaze that made my insides twitch.
Damn it! I never thought that this day would be coming so soon, on my damn birthday party.
“ I can explain." I started just in time for Valeria to land before me.
“You are not going to explain anything Mia, not now." She said as she started chanting in a foreign language.
A glowing ball moved from her fingers before it burst in the air, revealing small particles.
“ What have you done?" I whispered the question loud enough for her to hear alone.
“Erasing their memories of course. If I didn't come, you would have messed things up." She added, giving me a sharp glare.
“He is my mate, I can't keep this from him.” I reasoned but the most Valeria gave me was an eye roll.
" You'll Know your position once you go home. Mate or not, don't trust the people around you. You never know who hurts you the most.” She warned me, earning a frown from me.
" Will you die if you speak openly? What's with all the riddles?” I mocked.
" That would be an Insult to my intelligence. Anyway, I'm leaving before they regain their consciousness.” Valeria announced and without a blink of an eye, she was gone, just like she came.
As promised, in a matter of seconds, their consciousness was back.
“ Mia! Are you okay?" Damian asked immediately as he walked to me.
Pulling me in his arms, I relaxed in his hold.
“ What happened here? The last thing I remember is fighting the vampires and… I can't remember anything.” He uttered as he closed his éyes, trying to think.
" Your wonder woman scared the enemy away.” I joked but Damian glared at me.
" That's not funny.” He answered as he took a deep breath, his nose inhaling my scent.
“ They retreated." I answered truthfully this time and Damian frowned.
“ That's weird!" Damian commented.
“ I can't seem to remember anything about that." Damian added.
“ Don't stress yourself with that. The pack is safe now, that's what matters. Let's go and see the others." I proposed and Damian agreed with a nod of this head. Taking a step ahead, Alicia's annoying voice sounded from behind us.
“ Damian…” she called, her voice weak and meek. Hearing her tone, I rolled my eyes in annoyance.
I hate people who play weak and seek sympathy with passion.
“ Not now, Alicia. I'll meet you at the house.” Damian said before taking my hand and walking away heading to the ballroom.
I could feel a deadly glare directed my way but I chose to ignore it. Having her tag along would just slow everything, not with how clingy she creams at me.
Stepping inside the róom, everything spelt chaotic. The chandeliers, the well set tables, shards of broken glass, name them. Everything was scattered on the floor.
Looking around, I realized that some of our people were injured. Although some retained serious Injuries, luckily no one died.
After sending the injured to the clinic and ensuring that the borders were well reinforced, Damian and I headed home.
My body was screaming for some rest and all I had in mind was to slump on my bed and retire to dreamland yet the slap that welcomed me when I stepped inside the house sent my brain into a reset factory.
“ Mum!" Damian shrieked as my father moved to hold my mother who seemed ready to deliver another slap on my delicate cheeks.
“ How dare you! How dare you seduce your brother!"
