CHAPTER SEVEN

We decided to play first. He setup his Xbox and made me choose what game I want to play. Good thing that there is Tekken which I used to play while growing up so I chose that one.

“Who is your main hero?” He asked.

“I actually don’t have any. I just randomly select hero and press all the buttons to see what action that hero could perform,” I laughingly answered. I really don't understand what I was doing before so I kept on clicking just to cause damage towards my enemies.

“Christie and Eddy suits you well, then,” he answered chuckling.

“Why?” I curiously asked him.

“Those heroes will randomly perform tricks that no one can tell how it happened,” he explained. “They just press random buttons and then those heroes will already perform a break dancing which the enemies can't even avoid and once you're hit with the continuous dancing, you're doomed.”

“Oh! I think I know what you’re talking about. I feel like I’ve already used Christie before,” I said upon realizing what he’s telling me. “She was one of my favorites.”

“Use her, then. Let’s see if she can fight against my Devil Jin,” he dared me.

“I’m not sure if I can beat you but bring it on,” I confidently accepted his dare.

Our game started and just like what was planned, he used Devil Jin while I used Christie. I haven’t played this game for so long so I really had a hard time figuring out what to do. I remembered how my character really is so hard to understand. I just kept on pressing the buttons until I won a round from him.

“That was cheating,” he jokingly complained.

“This character is really a cheater,” I agreed.

“Let’s try different characters later,” he then suggested.

“I’ll use my Lily on you,” I warned him.

We played another match and I used Lily because I remembered how much I enjoyed playing with her before. He used Paul which I totally forgot how it moves so I lost that match.

“Ugh! You made my Lily bleed,” I complained. I wasn’t able to win even a single round because he showed no mercy.

“My Paul was ready. He isn’t a gentleman,” he jokingly answered.

“Sure he ain’t,” I agreed and we both laughed because of that.

We continued on playing Tekken and I really enjoyed his company. I proved that it’s easy to be so close to him because he is really an accommodating person and so kind.

“Do you play with your friends too?” I asked him.

“I really don’t have close friends that I can invite over. You are actually the first one,” I was surprised with what he said.

“Why?” I curiously asked him.

“I just don’t feel like doing so,” he shortly answered.

“But you invited me over?” I kept on asking.

“Yeah?” He confusingly answered. “I felt like you’re going to be a good friend.”

“Aww? I’m so flattered.”

“Well, you actually are.”

He genuinely smiled after saying that. I appreciate his personality and I really think that we are going to be good friends. He has this light personality that I feel like suits me well.

“You too.”

“You want to learn how to cook now?” He asked to change the topic.

“I guess we better go at your kitchen now. It’s so hard to win against you,” I laughingly agreed.

He then turned off his Xbox. I stretched my back while waiting for him to finish because I had a back ache since we were sitting for a while now . When he is done, he invited me over to the kitchen.

“What do you want to learn?” He asked me.

“I don’t know. Fried hotdog or egg, maybe?” I suggested.

“Okay. Let’s start with the basics now. We’ll cook complicated food some other time,” he agreed which made me happy because he is already looking forward for the second time.

He showed me how to cook the basics. He told me that I need to heat the pan first before putting up the oil so that the food won’t stick to the pan. He also told me to weaken the fire so that it won’t burn. What he told me really helped me a lot because those are the basic things that I tend to ignore causing my food to look like trash.

“You helped me a lot,” I complimented him.

“You said you’re a hard learner. I beg to disagree,” he complimented me in return.

“You’re just a good teacher,” I insisted but it’s real. He taught me with so much patience so I learned easily.

“You really don’t let yourself lose an argument, eh?” He uttered.

“But all my arguments are valid. Admit it,” I answered back.

“Well, that’s true,” he surrendered.

“That’s because you can’t throw your arguments right,” someone at our back said so we both looked at that person which I guessed is his brother.

“You’re back!” Johann happily exclaimed.

“Yeah, right?” That person answered back.

“Hey, Sol. This is my brother, Joaquin. He’s finally back from their retreat.” He introduced me to his brother.

I waved my hand to greet him and we smiled at each other.
