5: Married To Him
Narrator
It was in the headlines, the day had come. It was a very important occasion for a few, and to some it was like getting a business deal done, while to others it was revenge day.
“This is the busiest we’ve been,” One of the maids said making arrangements with the rest. Decorations were put in place and so far everything was going smoothly for the wedding.
Tristan rubbed his jaw lost in his thought. He paced around his room thinking about his wedding which was starting in a few hours.
Marrying Lily didn’t bother him, but the thought of spending the rest of his life with a woman whom he didn’t have any affection for made him uncomfortable.
“But this is just a business deal.” He tried to convince himself
“ I must keep my end of the deal, “ He reminded himself. But as the saying goes, it was easier said than done.
Somewhere in LA, Isabella could be seen talking to two hefty men. Their conversation was discrete but looked intense.
“Do not hurt her, just make sure she’s locked up and safe,” She gave the instructions and handed over an envelope to them.
“Consider it done,” They said but hesitated before leaving.
“Are you sure you want to see this through? No regrets later, is this what you really want?” One of them spoke, his voice deep enough to scare you as he stared at Isabella who looked angry.
“No second thought,” she said using her fingers to dig into her flesh, as she recalled him smiling with his finance, while her world was literally on the verge of ending.
“I’m not spending the rest of my life in regrets,” she stares at them with all seriousness.
“Neither am I letting the five months I have left be of me wailing and crying,” She paused to catch her breath.
“I want this. He doesn’t get to be happy if I’m not,” She scoffed.
“So yes I’m doing this,” She added confidently.
“Alright then, let’s get you all set up,” They said and patted her back while she sniffled staring at her palms…
*The Ceremony*
“Do you Dominic Tristan Dominic, take Lily Allen to be your lawfully wedded wife,” The priest asked
“I do,” he said and wore the ring on her finger.
“And do you Lily Allen, take Dominic Tristan Dominic to be your lawfully wedded husband,” The priest turned to her.
“I do,” She nervously took the ring and wore it on his finger.
“And by the power vested in me by the heavens, I declare you husband and wife,”
“You man kiss the bride,” Everyone roared in joy and clapped their hands in celebration.
Tristan took a step forward to his bride, doing the necessary as he put it. His hands slowly lifted her veil, only for a surprise to be revealed.
“Isabella,” He said and stumbled backward in shock. Everyone gasped in shock staring at the unfamiliar face who stood as the new Mrs. Dominic. Isabella stood there staring in satisfaction at the confused look on her boss’s face. She felt joy, she felt happy that she didn’t care about the crowd in front of her until she turned around to leave.
“Where is Lily?” Tristan grabbed her hands staring at her calmly.
“I have no idea,” She said.
“What do you mean by that?” before she could respond to that, his phone beeped.
“I can’t do this Tristan, I can’t marry you,” He read the message he had received from Lily, and chuckled staring at Isabella. He didn’t gaze at her with anger, but he looked at her in a way that wouldn’t scare her away.
“What’s this madness, Tristan?” His father yelled walking to the alter. Tristan let go of Isabella and turned to face him putting his phone back Into his pocket.
“I have no idea, Mr. George. But it seems like my supposed bride didn’t want to get married to me after all,” He said in anger walking away from him and heading over to Lily’s parents.
“Did she say where she was?” He asked them calmly while Mrs. Allen dried her tears.
“Nothing, she just said she’s taking a little break time to relax and we should consider it as her vacation,” She explains while her husband held her hands.
“It’s okay, we will do everything in our power to find her,” Tristan said staring at his father while his security escorted the Allen’s home.
“And who may you be?” He asked Isabella who sat down unknowing of what to do at the moment.
“She’s my wife,” Tristan said standing behind his father, who turned around and laughed at his comment hysterically.
“A joke? This must be a joke!” He yelled scaring the workers away.
“Father!!, say something. There’s no way you’re going to let this happen, right?” He ran to the grandfather, who had been silent since the beginning of this event.
“Father,” Mr. George called out again when he got no response.
“What do you have me say, son? You heard the boy already, he said she’s his wife,” He looked over at the lady who made Tristan speak up to his father for the very first time.
“That’s it? You’re not going to punish him or call this marriage void?” He pestered, while Tristan stood there waiting to hear his final judgment from his grandfather.
“I’m not doing anything. I’m going to let the married couples have their time alone. Cause it does seem like they have a lot to talk about,” he patted Tristan’s shoulder and stared at the girl one more them before walking away.
“You did this? I knew you were an embarrassment, but this just proves that we might never have that relationship,” He looked at him with anger.
“Good thing I have my new family,” Tristan said and walked to Isabella holding her hand. He looked at his father in anger. He had overheard him talking about how foolish his son was to think they were ever going to have that father-son bond, he stated how he said that promise just to make sure he saw the end to this marriage.
Tristan was grateful to Isabella for showing up as his bride, he was glad that everything went upside down crushing his father’s dreams.
**
After the silent ride home, they finally arrive at Tristan’s mansion. He walked in with Isabella running behind him like a helpless maiden when he suddenly stopped in the middle of the hallway.
“It’s just the two of us Isabella,” He said and she looked at him scared as his expression had completely changed.
“I’m going to ask this one last time,” he took a step towards her, and she moved backward frightened.
“What are you doing?” She whispered, trying to hold her gown in her hands…
“Where’s Lily?” He said
“I do not know,” she lied
“Where is my wife?” He yelled and stopped when her back hit the wall behind her.
“I am your wife,” she yelled back, her eyes tightly shut, her face turned in the other direction.
He has withdrawn his hands taken aback by her response when a small smile tug his lips.
“Right. You’re my wife,” He repeated and blew air on her neck making her shiver. She slowly started to open her eyes, to find their faces just inches apart from each other.
“I guess it’s time to perform your duties, wife,” He said as his hands were on her gown while she yelped in shock. He brought his face closer to her neck like he was going to kiss her when she pushed him away and ran to one of the rooms locking the doors.
“Isabella,” he called holding his laughter…
