Chapter : 02
All was quiet, sitting on the veranda of our house, I was contemplating the motorcyclists as well as the passers-by. Even though I was having a little difficulty getting to know them, I was still able to distract myself just by watching the way they walked and the way they dressed. Suddenly, the gate of our house opened, from a distance, I saw a figure, it was her, my older sister. She approached me with a smile on her face, bag in hand, carrying her little girl who was only 5 months old.
Hello Lydia, are you there?
Yes, good arrival big sister, did you bring my niece?
Yes, she's sleeping now.
What time will you be home?
Very late, your niece won't bother you, don't worry about it.
I know that, big sister. Give it to me.
She gently removed the loincloth and I took the little one home, the latter pulled herself up, opened her eyes gently and closed them again. How beautiful it is when you are a child. Why? We had access to all the doors.
Is Mom there?
Who do I think is asking over there? Asked my mother who was just outside the door and could hear us peacefully.
I've already brought your little girl, she's going to bother you a little bit.
How is she? She's getting bigger every day. Look how much she looks like me.
Mom, stop it. My daughter looks just like our late father.
I'd rather keep my mouth shut. Lydia give me my little girl.
I gave my niece to my mother and went to sit down again. Mom kept looking at me, I tried to avoid her gaze in every way but the old woman wouldn't spare me.
Mom what?
When are you going to decide to go to your older sister's house for at least a few days or months. There you can help her out a little bit, she won't have to come here every day. You're here with me, you're not doing anything, you're already on vacation at the university so help us.
Mom, I've already talked to Lydia tired. She still won't help me, I said everything but nothing.
Honestly, I didn't want to go to live with my sister but hearing the same things every day was starting to annoy me, the two of them kept talking about this business of coming to live with my sister, I didn't have much of a choice, I would have to decide otherwise they would never stop bothering me and far from leaving me to live in peace, I would have to accept after all.
I understood mom, big sister I will come to spend the last months of my vacations at your place, so you will be at ease. And my niece will be much better.
My big sister's face has changed completely, I've never seen her like this really. She didn't even know that I would be the one responsible for her misfortunes, and far from it, the destroyer of her home. She gave me the key to the house and left me some instructions before leaving.
Thank you so much Lydia.
You're welcome, Mom. I'm going to pack up my stuff so I can go to her house tonight.
___ Got it!
I went to put my things away, I didn't take much because I don't want to stay forever. I was just leaving for a few days or months. It doesn't matter.
I spent the whole day with my mother and my niece. At 7pm I went to get a motorcycle to drop us off at my older sister's house. I put my niece on my back, and left the house after promising my mother to take very good care of my big sister and especially my niece.
As usual, the city was all agitated, the road was full of motorcyclists as well as cars, even the pedestrians could not find the place to place their feet. I only looked around as if I was looking for someone or as if something was wrong. Yes, my niece who was sleeping woke up crying, she was right though, considering the screams of the motorcyclists and the screams of the passengers, she couldn't get out of it. I gently leaned towards the motorcyclist and left him a few words, I sent my hand behind to gently touch my niece who after a few touches, quietly calmed down.
Our motorcyclist did everything possible to find the way, thank God he followed the advice. After a few minutes of hassle, we finally arrived in front of my sister's house.
