Chapter 3: Blackmail
Chapter 3
Skye averted her eyes from Cloud then looked around. Gail is gone. Where else did that woman wear?
Skye was about to pass Cloud when he suddenly spoke. Buwisit. He still thought it was dumb.
"What will Les do when he finds out that Airin likes him? Sure, he will tell Airin that they will stop their hypocritical relationship, right?"
It was as if Skye was stabbed in the stand by what he heard. He violently turned to Cloud who was still standing in front of the men's comfort room while folding his arms. It looked straight at him. His eyes were dancing with amusement. There was a smirk on her lips that she loved to erase with her nails.
Skye swallowed when what he said sank into her mind. "H-aren't they real?"
"Nope."
"P-but—"
"Once Les finds out that Airin likes him, Les will definitely stay away from Airin. What would she feel when he suddenly left her?"
He sighed. "You won't tell Les what you heard," he calmly commanded Cloud even though inside he felt very nervous, worried, and confused.
The hulaniya is really right. Airin and Les are just pretending. But this was the opportunity Airin was waiting and asking for so long. And that opportunity seems to be in jeopardy because of his negligence.
Skye would be damned if she would let herself be the reason for friend's sadness.
"And who are you to command me?" Cloud raised an eyebrow. It still can't get rid of its silly grin. Imbyerna.
"You have no evidence that Airin really likes Les. So your point is invalid," Skye asked then resisted his gaze. He raised an eyebrow at it and then sniffed. "And why are you interfering in Les and Airin's lives, huh? Don't you have your own life? Pwes, get a life!"
"Evidence? Sorry to disappoint you, my lady, but I have an evidence."
Someone took it out of its pocket. A cellphone! He pressed something on his cellphone until a moment later his voice soared around!
Someone took it out of his pocket, a cellphone. He pressed something on his cellphone and later a familiar voice hovered around them. His voice!
It looks like something strange is happening to Airin and Les. We know that Airin really likes Les, but Les? Nah. I don't think so. Maybe Les is just using him. Les may know that Airin likes him so he blackmailed Airin. And you know Airin, as long as he finds a way to get closer to Les, go immediately. Though I couldn't blame her. If I were, eh, Charlie would approach me suddenly, I might just say 'yes'.
Fucking shit. It recorded what she had said earlier assuming Gail was the one she was talking to! Even the part where she said she liked Charlie was recorded. Shit. He is dead. Even Airin's newly emerging love life will probably die because of him.
"What can you say now, Miss Skyeisha?" that voice of Cloud aroused Skye's confusion.
He swallowed. In his mind, it was cheap to lose. "D-don't let him hear that," Skye said softly to Cloud while closing his eyes tightly. He could not accept if Airin's long dream would vanish like a bubble just because of his stupidity.
"I'm usually a very generous person, Miss Skyeisha. But after you made fun of me before, it looks like I won't be nice now."
He looked sharply at Cloud. If the look was just deadly, this man would have jumped to the floor earlier. But he needs to be kind. For Airin. The wind blew him away. "Please, don't tell Les that. Airin will be devastated."
He just regretted it and turned on his cellphone again. "Maybe I should call Les now."
Skye immediately approached Cloud and restrained his hand holding his cellphone. "Don't. Please. I ... I'll do anything! Just don't let Les hear that." He could not stop pleading with her voice.
Yes, his pride is high. He even teased this man at first but Airin's happiness is at stake here so he is ready to swallow his pride now. Pride be damned, he said.
Skye saw the devilish glint in Cloud's eyes that made her nervous. It was as if she was facing the devil himself right now. It seemed as if she would not like whatever was running inside his mind right now.
"Anything?" he asked her anxiously which he answered with a nod. "Go to my condo later," he said then dictated the address of the condominium unit as well as its room number.
"S-wait! Just wait! What am I going to do in your condo?"
Cloud woke up like a demon and seemed to want to sigh because of that. Like because the man was handsome when he smiled like that.
"I'll be right there at the condo. Be there at exactly six o'clock. If you don't have that time yet, I'll send this recording to Les right away," he threatened her and she was shocked. he tapped her on the head as if she were a puppy. "I'll see you later, Miss Skyeisha."
Cloud was no longer in front of Skye but he still stood there like a stump. She could not believe that the man wanted her. Maybe it plans to retaliate against him for his humiliation and insulting him yesterday.
I'm dead. Wait. How did he know my name? Stalker ?!
"WHY are you in a hurry, Skye?" Skye asked her friend Glady-mae. It was a classmate and it became his friend when he shifted course. This was the first classmate he had ever noticed.
"I'm just going somewhere important," he replied to his friend. He immediately looked at the watch he was wearing. Five o'clock. Exact. About six o'clock he was in Cloud's condo. It's just close to SVU so he won't be late for their conversation. He estimated the time.
Glady-mae sat down next to her chair. "Do you have a date with Charlie?" smiling its question to him.
Skye rolled her eyes before closing her bag. "I just wish, no. You know people like me are not Charlie's type," he replied.
That is true. Charlinton's types are those beautiful women. You are sexy, self-sufficient, and like a Barbie doll. Not that Skye was ugly. Her friends told her she was beautiful. Your exact beauty, that is. Only good friends say, like that. But that's not what Charlie wants, eh. It likes Queen Bee. It can make others proud.
Which she was not. Totally.
She was just a simple girl living in a simple world. She was okay looking at Charlie from afar. Dreaming it was she who was standing beside him. But in reality, she was just a side character in his story. He's the one on the side. He's the one who just passed by. She's the one with the ending credits just added, "female student one."
So no matter how much he liked Charlie, it never crossed his mind to pay attention to it. Never. As in never really. Because it will never notice him either. As if.
"You're really beautiful, Skye, eh. You're not just like others who are obviously beautiful because they have good posture and posture. You ... well ..."
Skye teased her friend then patted her on the arm. "You know, I'm really your friend. Maybe if I had a fan club, you would be the president. That's how you like me in the labs?"
"I don't know about you, Skye. It's hard for you to talk."
"I know. That's my trademark. Anyway, I'm leaving," he said and left his friend. He walked straight to Cloud's condo — which he knew was just a walking distance to SVU. Sort of.
"Get ready for me, Cloud Valeroso. When I see your weakness, I will repay you. You are a pest! Thank you and you are handsome if not ..." He immediately tapped both cheeks slightly. "Wait! Why am I praising that man? He's not handsome! No!"
But he knew even in his hearing he sounded defensive.
