Chapter 4 Don’t Bully My Woman
A moment later, Chris scooped up Hope and inquired, "Who is this Leon Winston?"
Esther's eyes filled with fear upon hearing the question.
"Leon Winston is a notorious gang leader on the East Coast. He commands a vast army of thugs and holds significant influence in the region. If you confront him today, he will never let you off the hook..."
Chris furrowed his brow. Was this Leon Winston underestimating his own demise?
With a forceful slap, he struck the table, causing it to shatter.
"No matter who he is, anyone who dares to bully my woman will pay the price! By the way, doesn't the Jefferson family care about Hope's illness?"
Esther was the eldest daughter of the Jefferson family, and Hope was their eldest granddaughter. How could the Jeffersons remain indifferent?
Esther's fear subsided, and a bitter smile crossed her face. "In the eyes of the Jefferson family, Hope is nothing more than a disgraceful bastard. They only wish she would disappear as soon as possible."
Upon hearing this, images of Hope being beaten at the gates of the Jefferson Manor flashed through Chris's mind.
Determination welled up within Chris. "Don't worry. I will take care of Hope's illness. From this day forward, I will protect you and Hope."
...
Late at night, in a luxurious villa on the East Coast, Leon Winston, his head bandaged, seethed with anger.
"Esther Jefferson, you bitch! How dare you lay a hand on me! You will regret it for the rest of your life. And that bastard, once I find him, he'll pay!"
Leon remembered being slapped away by Chris Shelby, his face contorted with malice.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Suddenly, several bodyguards were flung backward.
"No need to come to me, I'm already here!"
Chris strolled through the entrance gate, leaving Leon shocked at his appearance.
"How did you get in?" Leon gritted his teeth and asked.
Chris casually took a seat on the sofa and sneered, "Can't you see? I fought my way in!"
Outside the villa, dozens of retired soldiers had stood guard. Had they all been defeated by the man in front of him?
Fear began to creep into Leon's heart as he pondered the question.
"And who the hell are you?"
"My name is Chris Shelby, and I am Esther Jefferson's husband!"
Leon was taken aback upon hearing Chris's words.
So, that worthless fellow had returned?
"Ha ha ha!"
Leon burst into laughter. "I've been curious, and here you are, you bastard! I've wanted to find you, but you've come to me on your own. You won't be leaving here tonight!"
Chris narrowed his eyes, a slight smirk playing on his lips. "Are you sure about that?"
Just then, a rapid succession of footsteps echoed from behind him.
Hundreds of thugs armed with machetes and clubs rushed in.
These men were all under Leon's command.
As hundreds of thugs flooded into the villa, they surrounded Chris.
Leon rose from his seat, laughing arrogantly. "Ha ha ha! You must be terrified. Today, you won't leave this place alive!"
Despite the hundreds of gangsters closing in, Chris remained calm.
He uttered calmly, "Is this why you've been so cocky? You dared to mistreat my woman, but perhaps I can still spare you if you apologize on your knees."
Leon froze for a moment, thinking that Chris must have been overwhelmed by fear.
"Are you out of your mind? Haven't you seen my gang here? How dare you speak to me like that? You're courting death!" Leon sneered. "Teach him a lesson, boys. Get him!"
At Leon's command, hundreds of thugs charged toward Chris, brandishing their weapons.
Just then, the sound of helicopters filled the air.
Leon looked up and saw dozens of helicopters hovering above the villa.
One by one, fully armed soldiers descended from the helicopters.
Thousands of soldiers poured out, encircling the entire villa.
Wide-eyed, the thugs watched in silence, too afraid to make a move.
A middle-aged man in uniform, sporting four golden stars on his shoulder, entered the villa.
This man was Tiger, one of Chris Shelby's five generals.
"Apologies, master. I'm late," Tiger said respectfully as he approached Chris.
Chris waved his hand dismissively. "Arrest all these scum and hand them over to the local police for proper handling."
"Yes, master!"
With a wave of Tiger's hand, numerous armed soldiers stepped forward.
The thugs, too frightened to resist, dropped their weapons and surrendered obediently.
Leon Winston was utterly flabbergasted.
"Who the hell are you?"
Pointing at Chris Shelby in disbelief, Leon uttered, "You can't be the big shot who arrived on the East Coast today, the Primus of Amerosia..."
Suddenly, a dreadful realization dawned on Leon.
His face turned pale, and he collapsed to the ground, unable to believe what he had realized.
"This can't be! How could you be the Primus? You're just a useless tramp the Jeffersons took in!"
Though he found it inconceivable, the man before him had summoned dozens of helicopters and thousands of fully armed soldiers. There was only one person in Amerosia capable of such a feat—Lord Death.
"Now it's too late," Chris declared, his expression icy as he approached Leon.
Leon immediately fell to his knees, desperately kowtowing. "I made a terrible mistake! I didn't know you were Lord Death... Please spare my life..."
Chris delivered a powerful slap to Leon's cheek, knocking out his teeth.
"Did you ever think about the consequences when you bullied my woman?"
Another slap landed on Leon's face, causing him to spit blood.
"How dare you lay a finger on my woman?"
A third slap sent Leon into convulsions as he fell to the ground.
"Remember this: Never, ever touch my woman!"
After the three resounding slaps, Chris glanced at Leon and turned to leave.
Tiger glanced at the bloodied figure of Leon on the ground, a look of disdain in his eyes. "Take care of him. Show no mercy to anyone who dares to bully the master's woman!"
"Yes, sir!"
Several soldiers promptly stepped forward, dragging Leon away as if he were a lifeless dog.
"Master, the elderly Mr. Jefferson is celebrating his 80th birthday, and there will be a banquet at the Grand East Coast Hotel tomorrow. This is an invitation from the Jefferson family," Tiger informed Chris, presenting a golden invitation.
The Jefferson family, a second-tier family on the East Coast, had the audacity to invite Lord Death!
Chris glanced at the invitation and spoke nonchalantly, "Tell the Jefferson family that I will attend the birthday party tomorrow!"
The Jeffersons had cast out Esther Jefferson and their daughter, subjecting them to mistreatment. It was time for the Jeffersons to pay for their actions.
With these thoughts in mind, Chris raised his head, a glint of determination in his cold eyes.
