CHAPTER 7
ALLEN
"You have to be joking," Pedro uttered at the plan I shared with him.
"It's not a joke. I'm serious. I agreed to be Juleka's friend, but I'll use that friendship to get her back. I will make her fall in love with me all over."
"Are you insane? Allen, don't even think about it."
"Why?" I questioned, seeing disapproval in Pedro's eyes over my plan.
He swayed his head and said, "Look Allen, you seem to have forgotten what happened to you when you tried to get Juleka's attention. That inspector almost killed you. Look at your mouth for heaven sake!"
He pointed at my lip which still had bruises at the side. I frowned at him, turning my face away from his point.
"Dude, forget you're a billionaire. Inspector Ben doesn't give a damn. That dude hates you like crazy."
"I don't care, " I stood my ground, refusing to accept the negativity coming from my own friend.
"That man has my wife. I can't leave Juleka with him. I am not scared. I will still go ahead with this plan and get my wife back. He stole her from me."
"Stole? You mean he saved her, right? " Pedro lifted his brow at me.
I understood what he meant by that. Just like the doctors had said, Ben was the one who found Juleka and saved her.
She just don't remember the past and now has a son for him.
Thinking about the family she has built in these years, makes me upset even more.
"So what if he saved her? He has no right to make her his wife. As long as I'm still alive, I will get Juleka," I promised.
Pedro groaned out, rubbing his face.
I could see him swaying his head as he asked, " And Miranda? What about her?"
"What about her?"
"Yeah, what about Miranda? You do know that Lady loves you like crazy. What will you do when she learns you're trying to get back a woman she knows nothing of? And worse, your wife? You've forgotten that everyone thinks you are a bachelor."
"I'll handle that when the time comes. For now, I need to get Juleka, " I said, showing my seriousness.
Pedro didn't know what else to say to me. He just sighed and patted me on the shoulder.
"Just don't get yourself killed."
"Very funny," I dimmed my eyes at him, as he mocked me over the plans I made.
Even though the world thinks I'm a bachelor, I won't leave Juleka in the arms of another man. I'll get her back by all means.
"I'll make Ben regret taking my wife. He'll pay dearly," I promised
.
I didn't hesitate with my plan.
In a few days, which was a weekend, I drove down to Juleka and Ben's home, with a well decorated basket containing wines and something nice for their little boy.
Stepping out of the car, I spotted Juleka and Ben coming out of their home.
Juleka's face engulfed with smiles while Ben had sourness on his.
His mood was enough to annoy me, but I had to compose myself like a friend, as I said, stepping towards them.
"Allen, good morning. It's so nice for you to visit, " Juleka welcomed, stepping forward to welcome me with a hug.
I gladly received it, also feeling tempted to hold her tightly. But with Mr Inspector glaring at me from behind, I had to control myself.
"Thank you for accepting my request. I felt I should spend my Saturday with my friends," I said, letting go of Juleka with a smile across my lip.
She hummed with delight, stepping back to meet Ben. He still looked displeased with my presence but welcomed me still.
"Glad you could join us. My wife just made a nice meal for us, " He said, placing his arm around Juleka's shoulder, right in my front.
My heart began to pound with discomfort, trying to hold back the anger rising in me. I just gave out a fake smile and said, "I'm glad I came over. Can't wait to have a taste of your... Wife's meal."
Juleka chuckled out, leaning closer to Ben.
That felt uncomfortable seeing her close to someone else.
"Come inside, please, " She invited, making her way into the house with Ben and I following from behind.
My eyes where on Juleka's figure from behind, realizing how beautiful and hot she looks in the dress she was wearing.
I could stare at her as long as I want, but with this grumpy ass inspector here, he will ruin the moment for me.
Juleka left Ben and I in the living room to get the dinning set.
The moment she left...
"What games are you playing, Cadell?" Ben questioned with his eyes dimming at me angrily.
That question came like a surprise, but I had to compose myself so he won't suspect a thing.
"What do you mean?"
"Don't think I'm stupid. I know you're pretending to be friends with my wife. You aren't over that madness of yours, thinking she's your so-called wife you claim to have."
"Look Ben, I can understand you, but I'm not here for that. I only want peace and that's all."
"You want peace?" He scoffed out in disbelief, crossing his arms.
"Yeah, peace. I know I wasn't being myself and all that, but I don't mean any harm. That's why I agreed to be friends with you guys and end the enmity. I meant what I said, " I claimed, showing the basket to Ben so he would believe my words
He stared at me with a furrow, stepping away from me.
"I don't care if you've given up your nonsense or not, Cadell. Just know that you won't have Juleka. I won't allow you to take her away from me, and that's a promise, " He said, daring me.
I lifted my right hand like one taking an oath, telling Ben, " Like I said, I just want us to be friends and nothing else. I don't mean you any harm."
Still, Mr Grumpy didn't care.
He walked out of the living room without taking the basket I brought.
When he left, I felt my face aching me from the smiles I've been putting on for Ben. I groaned, rubbing my jaw.
"Just because I want to convince someone to trust me? Damn him, " I groaned again, touching my jaw.
When I turned around to have a seat, my gaze fell on two innocent eyes behind the couch.
"Isn't that Juleka's son? " I stared on, watching the eyes still looking.
Indeed it was her boy. There's no other little being in this house aside from him.
His googly eyes remained fixed at me, leaving me smiling at him.
"Hey, how are you? " I greeted, waving my hand at Juleka's son.
"Ethan, right? " I asked, since he was all silent.
He managed to nod at me when I asked that question, finally stepping away from the back of the couch and into the open where I could see him properly.
The little one had a toy gun in his embrace, stepping away from the couch slowly.
I moved closer to the couch and said, " That's a nice toy you got there. Speaking of toy... I got you something. Hope you like it? "
Opening the basket, I brought out a teddy bear, which I believe he'd love to play with, since he's a child.
I bought it while getting the drinks, hoping to build a bond with them, so I can execute my plan smoothly.
I showed it to him, asking if he likes it. But Ethan didn't give me a response. He just kept on staring.
It was beginning to feel annoying. I didn't even know what to do any more.
I swayed the toy at his face, asking, "Don't you like Teddy? Maybe you could tell me what you want and I'll... "
"What do you want from my mommy? " He questioned, leaving me amused.
I couldn't even respond but stare in surprise.
"You made my mommy sick the other day. Are you here to do the same thing?"
"What?" I was stunned.
He may be little, but his mouth is mature.
Ethan pointed at me and said, " I'm warning you, Mister. If you harm my mommy again, I won't spare you. I'll get my Daddy to lock you up behind bars. He's an inspector."
Wait, is he warning me?
This little child is warning me for real?
I gazed at Ethan, who furrowed his brow at me, stepping away from my point. He immediately ran away, following the path where Ben and Juleka had taken into their home.
"What the hell? " I uttered in surprise.
I never thought that little boy would act that way towards me. All I wanted to do was be friends with him, but he has no interest in being such with me.
Instead, he's warning me?
"Great. I'm not just dealing with the father but the son has joined in."
