Chapter Six
Henry, Efcharistisi
This sunny afternoon Kostas was away on business in Athens. After her lunch swim with the crew, the party continued on into her office. Lu had Iz Kamakawiwo’ole blaring on the speakers and was teaching the crew how to hula. She sang and showed them, “The hukilau. Where the lau lau is the kau kau at the hukilau.” They joined her. “All the ama ama come a-swimming to me.” They liked the fish part best. A Mythos can or two had appeared. This was exactly like old times for Lu. They were having a blast.
When they reluctantly went back out to work, the youngest member of their crew, the apprentice, stayed behind. He was clearly down in the dumps. “Errikos, what’s up?” Lu tried to get him to talk.
“Henry. Please,” he corrected. The whole crew was becoming skilled at speaking English. Especially Henry. “Lu, help me.” He lowered his eyes in embarrassment. She could guess. His tale was common among young Greek boys. She had heard. Marriage to his childhood sweetheart loomed. He had not even made it to first base. Greek boys usually managed to achieve sex once or twice somewhere along the way. Somehow. But the young Greek girls? They were doomed.
“Tell me what is going on.” Lu truly cared about him.
Henry was honest, “That’s just it. Nothing.”
“Describe it, as best you can,” Lu coached him.
“She wears a shirt buttoned up to her neck. And always the long traditional skirt. If I even attempt to put my hand on her knee, she slaps it.”
Lu had heard about the Hydra girls and felt sorry for him. But what was the right thing to say to this dear boy? Her favorite.
He surprised her with a suggestion. “Can I come meet with you in the evenings? You can show me certain things.”
“Henry, I think that’s a really bad idea.” She did not want to jeopardize the eco project in any way.
“I fantasize about this all the time. How much you can help me. The beautiful American lady.” He blushed furiously.
“Let me think about it,” was the best Lu could do.
“Efcharisto!” Forgetting himself, Henry thanked her profusely.
He was back first thing the next morning. “Have you made up your mind yet, Miss Lu?”
Lu had not. “Tell me again how you think meeting me will help you.”
He tried his best, “We do not have people like you here. A free spirit is how you say?”
She was catching his idea. It was beginning to appeal to her. “You want a different way of life for you and Sofia. Rather than the traditional.”
He shook his head with a furious up and down nod. “Yes, Lu. Yes! Akrivos. That is it. Exactly.”
Lu felt she had to say it, “Kostas will not approve.” This she knew. 100%.
Henry surprised her, “Then we shall not tell him.”
This sealed the deal for her, Lu had to agree, “Nai. Yes. I will do it.”
Henry was smart. He had noticed a difference in Kostas. Easily figuring out why. He wanted the same for himself. For his bride.
Lu would let him come to her twice a week. Leading up to his marriage. For tutoring lessons. She felt a bit guilty, fearing once he found her, breaking off and saying good-bye as a private pupil might prove difficult. For them both. However, continuing once Henry was a new husband would not be suitable. She was hoping to feel she had, indeed, done some good for the couple.
He was a pleasant and charming student. Even though Lu had never really considered how to handle such lessons, it was not difficult to find what to base her ideas on. But often they ended up chatting about life, as well. Lu’s rules were simple: No talking to anyone about this. No one. On this she was adamant.
Their first night was a slightly awkward occasion. His knowledge, even at twenty-five, was very limited. To help, they watched some dirty movies together. Then strolled up the hill, hand in hand. After a decent time had elapsed, she made a move. Settling into his lap. Thus began their journey. Out under the brilliant Greek stars.
Henry had discussed arrangements with his foreman to spend nights out on the island. Pointing out it would be most helpful for his current project. Not exactly a lie. Indeed, thought Lu, when she heard this. Most helpful.
Things were a bit tense until he began stroking her long hair. Surprised at its silky texture. Lu had purposely worn a thin, filmy caftan. Clearly resulting quickly in a bulge in his pants. Let him study, explore, admire. Learn, listen. Discover where to tickle. Where to slap. Holding his breath as he touched her everywhere. They turned toward each other instinctively. He was amazed she would share her beautiful wild things with him. She willingly showed him. What set her on fire. Her aphrodisiacs. His eyes widened. You can do that to a woman?
He was a natural. Drawn to her every girlie curve. Grasping her bottom. Inhaling. Clinging. The first time she masturbated him. He gave a shout of warning and went off. Soon he grew again. This time she would let him inside. He lingered at spots he had only guessed at, previously. Entering her from the back. From the front. Marveling. He never tired. And Lu? At his touch? No. Never. As his lips wandered southwards once more, toward her swollen pink treasure, she swooned at the wonder of it all. He took a bit longer this time. Would he ever be satisfied? At her calculations, this was number six for the night. Her throat tightened. She must not fall.
The way he rode her? It was good for her soul. Writhing and flaming. She was wild in the perfect bed of her skirts. The softness of her skin. They did not want to let go of each other. Stars were in her. So aroused, he was beside himself. They got lost in each other that night. Her desire surprised him. And herself. Shudders. In the moonlight.
And this, thought Lu, is why Greece is called the land of the Gods. “Meet me under the Milky Way. We will fall in love all over again.” Lines of a poem came to her.
They played often up in the hills. In three weeks the memory of her touch would be fading as he said his vows. He couldn’t have them both. Their last night. An ordinary Friday. He did cry a little. Then staggered back down the hill at sunrise. In another life…
The following Sabbath, there they were. The shy bride being walked down the aisle by her father to meet him. His eyes wavered over to Lu as his bride approached. She caught a twinkle. Two young kids standing at the flower bedecked altar together. She kept her shawl firmly up as she met little Sofia for the first time in their receiving line. Delighted as she caught her first real glimpse of the famous American lady. Her eyes flew to Henry’s. This time he took her hand and gave it a bold, reassuring squeeze. The honeymoon would take place on Zakynthos. Known for wild parties, warm waters, and lovely beaches. It ought to be quite the experience for his young virgin bride.
