6. Unpredictable
Leaving Darwin's room, Velove immediately walked quickly to his own room. Locking the door tightly while holding his chest that was rising and falling because it was pounding so fast.
This is the first time after a month of marriage, he is being bold. Velove, even tried to answer almost all the words that came from her husband's lips.
Raised with great affection. Once spoiled because he is an only child, Velove has never been treated harshly or arbitrarily by others in his life. Even though he came from a respected family and had everything, Velove was also never taught by his parents to belittle other people, to be rude or impolite.
However, recalling Deasy's words, Velove thought that he really shouldn't be too weak or resigned if his pride was trampled on. After all, he wasn't at all wrong here. The marriage between him and Darwin was purely an arranged marriage which was unavoidable. That's why, Darwin had no right to make him the object of venting the annoyance he felt.
Meanwhile, Darwin was in his room looking very angry. Almost all the things that were on the nightstand and table he scattered until scattered on the floor. He was very annoyed, because Velove had dared to call Vicky as his affair. Not to mention that his wife also ensnares him to get further into the business circle that he really doesn't want.
If Darwin takes or accepts the project that Darius gave him, it is certain that it will be more difficult for him to let go or divorce Velove. Not to mention that his father also seemed overjoyed because his best friend gave the Morales family, especially himself, a new company that could not be underestimated.
Besides that, Darius also mentioned the matter of the company's successor. With confidence, his father-in-law intends to dethrone the leadership of the Fernando Group to him. This will make Purnomo Morales even more unwilling to let his son refuse, let alone intend to divorce Velove, who is like a gold mine for their family.
Disappointed, Darwin's cell phone rang. Taking several deep breaths, he reached for the smart object lying on the bed. Check out soon. Then he found Samuel's name clearly displayed on the screen making a call to him.
"Hello."
"Win, you are going to the equestrian arena, right? Randa and I have been waiting for you for a long time."
Darwin took another breath. He almost forgot his appointment this afternoon to go horse riding with his two cousins.
"Yeah, I remember. I'll be in a minute otw."
Call disconnected. Darwin rushed to change clothes. Take a backpack and put everything you need. Then just left without needing permission or saying goodbye to Velove, who was currently still languishing in his room.
Arriving at the equestrian arena, from a distance Darwin could see his cousin's whereabouts. At that time, Samuel and Randa were seen circling the field with their chosen horses.
Not wanting to be left behind, Darwin immediately followed. The three of them played horse polo for over an hour. Until finally Samuel, who was starting to get tired, decided to rest and then pulled over.
"Ken? Why stop?" said Randa. The man was still faithfully sitting on the horse while playing the polo stick in his hand. "Responsibility. The habit of losing will stop suddenly."
"Enough ... already ... I'm tired," the narrow-eyed man complained later.
"It's really bad! You do most of the exercise in bed. It's your turn to be taken to the field and you're sluggish yourself."
Samuel shot her a look of disgust. Just casually his cousin was talking.
"It's not like that. The weather isn't really nice. It's already five o'clock. But the sun is still hot. I can't stay in the sun long."
"So what?"
"My skin is burnt. My beauty will fade later, Ran."
Randa chuckled. Seeing that his two cousins had gotten off the horse and chose to sit down to rest, he couldn't help but get down too. Approach, then sit down join.
"His name is also playing in an outdoor arena which is sure to be exposed to the sun," said Randa later. Then hastily sipped the bottled mineral water that was already available on the table.
"But how come there is a sun that isn't hot," said Darwin, joining in the conversation.
"No way. Everywhere, the name of the sun must be hot."
"Yes," said Darwin. "The sun in the mall is cold. Use AC too."
"That's a clothes shop, Gembel!" Randa chuckled angrily. While he was being serious, his two cousins even asked to joke. "Again, yes. If you give it heat, you complain, if you give it rain, you also complain. It's true that you give a lot of money. I'm sure you won't complain."
The three of them continued to talk. I don't know what Randa discussed, until the afternoon gradually turned into night.
Samuel noticed from the start that Darwin's behavior was not as usual. It was obvious that his cousin was silent a lot. Like there is a problem that might be facing.
"What's wrong with you?" said Samuel when she found Darwin silent.
Randi turned around too. Apparently he felt the same way if there was something different from his cousin. In the end, he also asked.
"Yeah, just kinda has a lot on my mind. Are you stressed or what?"
Darwin looked up, then took turns looking at the two cousins sitting in front of him.
"I'm just tired."
"Tired?" Samuel repeated. "Tired of work?"
"Or the same game just now?" Randa chimed in.
Darwin shook his head. The man smiled weakly. So far, Samuel and Randa have been the place to complain. His two cousins also know his feelings and feelings without exception.
"I'm tired of my marriage, Ken. I'm tired of pretending. I'm also tired of living with people I don't really love."
Samuel and Randa stared at each other for a few moments. Then the two of them returned to focus on Darwin, who was now just sitting back, looking straight at the horses running across the field.
"This is my fate. Why is it so difficult to be with someone I love."
"But, you already have a wife, Win. As I said, it's better for you to learn to accept her. What's wrong with Velove? Isn't she beautiful and well-established? Not to mention that she comes from a family with a clear background. In fact, she's independent and also smart. I think Uncle Purnomo is right to choose her to be your wife," said Randa at length.
Darwin smiled lightly again. He did not agree with what Randa had just said.
"Just because you were a friend from one campus, then you defended him?"
Reflex shook his head.
"Not like that. I assess this objectively. If he's really good, I say good. If he's ugly, then I'll say ugly. Why cover up something that's not good? What's more, you're my cousin. I can't let you down."
"Randa was right," Samuel added. The man joined in. Commenting on what he had heard earlier. "Long before Velove became your wife, I personally even worked with her several times. In general, she is a good woman and even quite adept at running a business. You two should be good partners."
"I still don't like it," said Darwin.
"Yes, so what? Do you want to divorce him? Then let the Morales Group fall again?" asked Samuel. He waited for what reason Darwin would tell him this time. After all, this wasn't the first time her cousin had complained about marriage.
"You know that I can't divorce him right now."
Darwin laughed again wryly. Maybe it was destiny to have to live a miserable life like this. Years of making love with the woman he loves. Instead of being able to freely step into marriage, the father even erased the dream he had cultivated by marrying himself to another woman.
"That's why, why don't you try to accept her? Learn how to make Velove a real wife?"
"I'm not you Samuel! I'm not someone who easily opens my heart to new people. We are different."
"What's wrong with trying, Win?" Samuel answered again. "It could be that the one you really hate is the best. It could be, Velove is the right woman that Uncle Purnomo has prepared to be your partner. You never know because you didn't want to try from the start, right?"
Darwin was silent. Frustrated because it has run out of vocabulary. It really felt like there was nothing he could do at the moment other than accept and live a destiny that knows how long it will end.
***
Velove seemed to notice once again from behind the mirror the look of make up on her face. Even so, he immediately turned around once to make sure the party dress he was wearing.
As scheduled, tonight he will attend a dinner party held by Fernando Group officials. Believing his appearance was perfect, he then left the room and intended to go down to the first floor.
Passing through the living room, Velove found Darwin already sitting on the sofa. The man looks so handsome and neat wearing a suit that is usually worn to attend parties or meetings.
Without much talk or preamble, both of them headed for the car. Hastily went to the place where the event was taking place at one of the well-known hotels.
When they got there, as soon as they got out of the car, Velove grabbed Darwin's arm. Familiar with it. To show everyone there that he and Darwin are a happy married couple.
Even Darwin did not refuse one bit. He knew he had to do this to protect his good name. Just living the role he is playing. Even when he ran into anyone Velove greeted and talked to, Darwin also did not hesitate to treat Velove in return like the wife he loved so much.
"You're welcome to act too," whispered Velove when the two of them pulled over not far from the table that served lots of drinks. "If you become an actor, you must have won an image trophy."
Darwin chuckled. Keeping his face, the man smiled faintly in response to his wife's words, which were clearly sarcastic.
"Make you happy," replied the man. "Isn't this what you hoped for? Being a perfect husband? A husband who is so intimate that he even loves his wife?"
"Sure," Velove nodded with a smile on his lips.
Even though they were put together by an arranged marriage, from the start Velove took their marital status seriously. Trying to be a good wife and carry out all the duties and obligations as much as possible.
It's just that, until this moment Darwin doesn't want to accept and even always looks at him in disgust. Not the slightest bit gave her any hope or opportunity to enter into his heart or life.
"Sooner or later, I will probably receive this treatment permanently without the slightest coercion," Velove continued. "Besides, no one ever knows what our future marriage will be like, right?"
Darwin chuckled. Glancing, the man whispered.
"Don't dream too much, Velove Vexia Fernando. I make sure that will never happen. Unless, in the future I lose my memory or suddenly go insane."
"In that case, I will make you crazy. We'll just see what happens in the future."
Darwin wanted to answer again. However, finding Darius Fernando who suddenly approached, he swallowed back the words that were almost ejected. Instead of the friendly smile full of fake that he usually shows.
"Velove, Darwin," Darius greeted. The man then approached. Eliminate the distance between them. "Have you gone around greeting the officials and the board of commissioners who are present? Tonight everything is complete. So, this is an opportunity for Darwin to get to know them all."
Velvet nodded. From the first time he arrived, he had done what his father ordered him to do. Took his husband around and at the same time introduced them to who Darwin was.
"Yes, Pa. Velove and Darwin have greeted and even invited some of them to chat."
"That's good then. Tonight Papa also wants to introduce you to one of the expert teams who have just been brought in from outside. Papa wants you to accompany him some time in the future because he will be stationed in the Caribbean, with you."
Velove listened intently. Not the slightest objection to the task his father had just given him. He is used to assisting new managers or expert staff who are usually brought in from abroad.
"Who will Velove accompany this time?" asked the woman curiously.
Darius then looked for a moment, waving his hand, as if calling someone. It wasn't long before a tall, slender man approached. Which made Velove flinch in surprise.
"Velove, Darwin, this is Blake. He's the team expert Papa told you about just now."
The dark-eyed man flashed a friendly smile. Offering a hand without hesitation, invites Velove to shake hands.
"Good evening, Velove. Nice to see you again after such a long time."
Velove froze. While Darwin could clearly see how his wife was staring at the man in front of him with an unusual look. As if there is something being hidden.
