Summary
PROLOGUE : « What do you want ? » He asked. I clapped my hands together and sighed. « To go home. » His face instantly fell. He walked right into that one. « Well that sucks because you aren’t going anywhere, kitten. » I growled lowly at the nickname and crossed my arms. « Who says ? » I argued. « I just did. Now stop acting like a brat and tell me what the hell you want to eat, » he said frustrated. I rolled my eyes and turned around to exit the room. « Where the hell are you going ? » He yelled at me. I stopped and turned around to look at him. « I don’t want to have any food prepared by you. You’re hands are probably just as dirty as your mouth. Watch your language, » I stated simply and exited the kitchen.

High school.
I guess we had your stereotypical high school setting. We had the jocks, the cheerleaders, the sluts, the nerds the fan girls, the fan dudes, the average kids, the higher class, the lower class. You name it ; we have it.
Sometimes, I genuinely wonder what I am. Honestly, I have no freaking clue anymore. From being called everything from ‘Scar’ to ‘That Rogue Girl’, I’ve just learned nobody gives a crap that my name is actually Alex Ricardo.
I grew generally ‘short’ for my certain species at a height of 5’6. In all of my seventeen years of living, I had never grown past that, but I was cool with it which is almost surprising considering the slight anger issues I seem to have bottled up in my small body.
About a year ago my pack and I ‘joined’ the Cadman Pack (in a sense) due to a new law that was passed ; its a werewolf law. Long story short, I’m a giant dog trapped inside of a human.
When I was fourteen, I ran away from home. Not because I had a crappy life. Not because my parents passed. No. It was because my mate rejected me. The person that was destined for me threw me to the side.
Usually, a wolf finds their mate, as in soulmate, when they turn eighteen, but I didn’t. My mate found me when he was sixteen because he was next in line for a spot in the council. It’s like the werewolf government, but it’s not something that’s chosen. It’s based on bloodline like much of the things werewolf related. He rejected me because I was to small. I looked to weak.
I didn’t want to look weak anymore so I became a rogue. It was rough as hell. As a rogue, I basically handed over my life to the devil. Rogues are lone wolves. They travel, eat, live alone. They are targeted by every pack in their way and nine times out of ten, don’t die from just old age.
About two months after going rogue I had crossed onto another rogue’s territory. He was a male, and he was easily one of the biggest wolves I’d ever seen at the time. He nearly killed me, but I managed to run away before he could.
There was an enormous wound on my thigh and my right ear was literally torn off. A large scratch was placed on the right side of my face, and it’s still there today. I had broken three ribs, my left leg, and sprained my right wrist. I was a total and complete mess and should have died that day.
I just laid in a small meadow and decided that if I was going to die somewhere, it might as well be beautiful.
My midnight, black coat was covered in red splotches and some of the fur was missing. I was a mess.
But then something absolutely amazing happened, and I met my family. The ones that I will love til the day I die.
They were a group of rogues. It was extremely rare, practically unheard of. It was reasonable, though. All of them were pretty young. The oldest was a blonde-haired boy by the name of Shane. He was fifteen with a ten-year old brother named Shawn. They were born rogues. Then, their parents were killed off, so they had to fend for themselves.
There were two other boys who were both eleven. Austin had tan skin and dark brown hair while Dylan had pale skin and red hair. Austin was abandoned and Dylan left his family not too long before I met them.
Then, there was Gabby. She was fifteen like Shane, but younger by two months with long brown hair and fair skin. She was abused as a child by her father after her mother died, so she ran away in hopes of something better.
And finally, there was Karissa. The one person who seemed to be there more than any of them. The one person who seemed to care most of all. She was tiny. People think I’m tiny, but she was like a doll. She was only eleven, but she spoke to me as if she were my older sister. Her hair was generally short brown and she had these dull, blue eyes that always seemed to comfort you. No one knows why she got stuck being a rogue. She never told anyone. Apparently, it was too unimportant to be known.
That was three years ago. They took me in and helped me heal. Now, the only remnants of the incident with that rogue are the claw marks imbedded from the the top of my right eyebrow down to the beginning of my jawline that is now a scar and half of my left ear. Yes, I do mean half of it. The top of it was ripped off in the incident.
Shane and Gabby are eighteen now. They newly discovered they were mates to our surprise considering they are complete opposites. Austin has a huge obsession with Gabby at the age of fourteen, and it doesn’t seem to be disappearing any time soon. Karissa and Dylan started dating, and we all are pretty positive they are mates. It’s a bit sappy, I know. Then there’s Shawn. He’s thirteen and could care less about girls at the moment. All that he likes is soccer and dirtbikes.
So, what am I doing ? Sitting in the cafeteria eating a bag of Cheetos.
« I’m not going to the party ! » Karissa shouted.
« You have to ! Greyson said so ! » Austin yelled back. Karissa stood up and slammed her hands down on the table.
« He’s not my alpha ! Shane is, and I can do what I want ! » She shouted back at him. Austin huffed and stood up, as well, and pointed a finger at Karissa.
« You’re going to get us all in trouble with your attitude ! » Austin snapped. Karissa rolled her eyes and swatted his hand away.
« I don’t care ! I’m not going, » she countered. I sat my Cheeto bag on the table and stood up next to Karissa.
« I agree with her. I’m not going. I don’t care about his eighteenth birthday. In fact, he can shove it up his ass for all I care, » I said. Karissa bounced around happily and highfived me.
« Dylan ! Help me ! » Austin said and yanked Dylan up by his shirt. Karissa growled and Dylan held his hands up in surrender as he sat back down. « You guys cheat ! » He yelled at pointed to us.
« Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, » I said and Karissa ended it for me.
« Even though you’re wrong ! » Yep, that’s my girl.
« That’s enough, » Shane said, but we just ignored him and kept bickering.
« You guys have to go ! What if he’s one of your mates ! » Austin said in protest. He was always so adamant about the whole idea of mates.
« I found mine. He rejected me, so he won’t be mine ! » I hollered at him.
« Ever heard of a second chance mate ? » Austin barked back. I just rolled my eyes at him. Classic Austin.
« Austin ! He’s not my-« I argued but was interrupted. Shane stood up and slammed his hands on the table.
« Enough ! » His voice boomed throughout the entire cafeteria. Everyone went silent and turned to us. They must find it interesting when rogues fight. We honestly rarely ever fight like this, but we’ve all just been really stressed lately. « Austin sit down ! Alex ! Karissa ! You will be going to that party, and you will be respectful ! » He ordered at us quite harshly if I may say so myself. I knew the only reason he was saying we had to go is because Greyson requested us to go, and not going could put more of a target on our backs.
Greyson Hayes is the future Alpha, or leader, of the Cadman pack. Well, once he officially turns eighteen, he will be the Alpha. He intends on finding his mate as soon as possible though, so he can have his Luna by his side, as well. The Luna is basically the ‘Alpha-Female’.
« No ! I’m beta ! I have a say in this, too ! » I said as I pointed to myself. Shane took a step closer to me and pointed to himself.
