I Had a Miscarriage During That Fire Because My Boyfriend Decided To Help Another Woman

Summary
My boyfriend took me to a party with his friends. Suddenly, a fire broke out, trapping both me and his childhood friend in the flames. Without hesitation, he rushed into the inferno but chose her over me, leaving me to be swallowed by the fire. Rescued by firefighters, I awoke the next day in a military hospital. There, I saw his childhood friend's post: "He chose to save me first. My brother through and through!" All our mutual friends watched for my reaction, the official girlfriend. No one expected my comment: "Truly a touching moment. A heroic rescue amidst the flames, perfectly embodying 'brotherly love'. Even I, just the girlfriend, couldn't help but tear up."
Chapter 1
It had been two days since that terrifying fire, and Kirk Moore hadn't called me, his actual girlfriend. Just as I finished my comment, he called, furious, and questioned me, "Deava Vitali, when it comes to matters of life and death, why do you always twist things? Aren't you ashamed of your constant jealousy?"
"Besides, you're a soldier. You had the ability to escape the fire!"
"Keturah Benton wouldn't have been trapped if she hadn't gone back to save you. Do you realize she almost died because of you? You're truly malicious!"
Unbeknownst to him, Keturah had gone back for her forgotten backpack and got trapped with me. Disappointed in him, I couldn't be bothered to argue with Kirk anymore.
"Kirk, I had a miscarriage," I stated calmly.
"Enough! Even at this moment, you’re still lying! Instead of cleaning up your mess, you disappear. How contemptible can you be?"
After yelling at me, he hurriedly hung up the phone.
I spent five days in the hospital. Just when I thought I could go home, the doctor suggested staying two more days.
Keturah was fine, so Kirk finally took me off his blacklist.
"Where are you? I need to talk to you."
Every time we argued, it was always my fault in the end. I always humbly sought forgiveness, even when it was his mistake. This time, I didn't bow my head, and he blacklisted me for five whole days. When I tried to send him a breakup message, I realized he'd blocked me.
I was shocked but then understood. He must have grown impatient and called me directly.
"Why didn't you reply to my messages?"
His righteous tone made me laugh instead of getting angry. "You blacklisted me. Why should I reply instantly?"
Not blocking him back was my mercy, giving him one last shred of dignity.
When the doctor came for rounds, he finally noticed something was amiss. "Are you in the hospital too?"
"Yes, I've been here since the fire."
My cold response left Kirk momentarily silent.
"I'll come see you at noon."
Thinking it was time to formally end this relationship, I told him my room number. Before Kirk arrived, I fell asleep waiting. A nurse kindly covered me with a blanket as she passed by.
By nightfall, Kirk still hadn't shown up. I knew he wouldn't come because I'd seen Keturah's latest update. "Treating my lifesaver and best buddy to dinner. Can't believe he's cooking himself!"
In the picture, Kirk wore a woman's apron while cooking, with Keturah's hand resting on his back. The angle was perfect, exuding a subtle intimacy.
At that moment, I felt neither anger nor disappointment. It seemed like they were meant to be together. Kirk had never cooked for me, always saying a gentleman should stay out of the kitchen.
Seeing him cook at his childhood sweetheart's place made me realize I'd expected too much from this relationship.
