When exactly did Piers change?

After all, we've had a great couple of years of marriage.

Oh, come to think of it.

I think it was the time after I found out Jan had cancer.

She had surgery in the hospital, and her classmates who went to school with her at the time ran to visit her.

At that time, Jan looked as thin as a skeleton, plus the treatment was expensive and malignant, so she was ready to die.

The day after seeing her, everyone was able to get together just in time for a potluck.

Piers' classmates joked, "Geez mom, I really don't know how she thinks, are dying to see Piers that eyeballs are still like seeing meat, it's really fucking scary."

"I don't think it's cancer she's got it's mental illness ...... I can't believe she's still trying to haunt Mr. Black after all these years."

"My God, why doesn't she look at what she looks like? There's always pee if you don't have a mirror, who could look at her!"

The group talked and changed the subject to me.

"Still Joan looks good~"

"Joan was the flower of the department back in the day~ and Mr. Black is a beautiful woman."

"Wow! Aren't the children of two high achievers prodigies, I'm going to be a godmother when you have a baby."

The crowd was talking and laughing together, not paying any attention to Piers' increasingly somber face.

When another classmate told of a time when Piers had thrown a lunchbox from Jan straight into the trash, Piers suddenly got up and yelled, "What's the point of bringing that up when people are dying!"

For a moment, the entire table looked at each other.

It was only when I finally spoke up and rounded the mood back up that I was able to end the conversation.
