Chapter 4
Got me upset arguing with Piers a few times because of this.
But Piers is somewhat helpless.
He rejected Jan over and over again and pulled deletion on her countless times, never hitting on her.
Until the last time, when she ran up to us in the middle of an outside snack bar and insisted on sharing a table with us.
I was just about ready to get up and leave at that moment, but Piers scolded her in front of everyone.
"Is there something wrong with you? My girlfriend is right here why do you still always come to me? Aren't you a bit shameless for a girl? I've already clearly rejected you, right? Why are you still being a bitch here! You remember, even if all the women in the world die out, I will definitely not be friends with you."
"Because I hate people like you who feel good about themselves and have no shame."
That storefront isn't exactly small.
Piers doesn't have a big voice either.
Almost everyone looked to our end.
Jan's tears almost brushed off as she clenched her hand and opened her mouth to ask, "What's wrong with me just liking Senior? What's wrong with me pursuing true love?"
Her tears had smudged her eyeshadow and mascara, leaving just a row of fancy black marks.
I really can't see past taking out the makeup remover paper from my pocket and handing it over, then frowned and said, "Girls need to love themselves a little more, there are a lot of things waiting for you besides love ...... How old are you now, you'll meet a lot more people in the future, you can look for a handsome guy to fall in love with, but to keep holding on to a guy with a girlfriend is a bit much."
Everyone around them started pointing when they heard it.
In the end Jan ran away disappointed.
Piers, on the other hand, complained; "I should have known I should have scolded her away in the first place, it's so annoying."
I was a little helpless, but I comforted him.
Thought this thing was over.
Unexpectedly just less than a year later, she actually got into the school where Piers went to graduate school to study with him under the same tutor.
But Piers still hasn't bothered with her, and only added her on FB as a last resort at the request of a fellow grad student.
But from that day on, Piers always left his cell phone with me when he came home.
He's trying to prove that he never replied to Jan about anything.
These days continued until they graduated.
Then we got married, lovingly and sweetly.
Because of his better credentials, Piers became an associate instructor to stay at the university.
Jan, on the other hand, has evaporated and is never seen again.
I thought she might have gotten over it and stopped running after Piers.
But when I heard from her again earlier this year, I heard she had uterine cancer.
