CHAPTER 5

Lily sat on the chair, lost in thoughts. She could not even begin to fathom where she was going to start her life from. Everything had tumbled for her already and she had no choice. All because of money. But she really had no choice because she had to work for money too. Lily was still thinking about the next thing to do when Millie walked in.

“Parte, parte, parte…” Millie stopped in between her tipsy state to examine Lily’s stance.

“Yoo, what’s up with that face?” Immediately, Millie was by Lily’s side. “Why do you look so down, where’s my smiling fairy?” Millie rubbed Lily’s cheek and lily smiled.

“I’m fine. I think that I might have to move out.”

“Why?” Questioned Millie.

“Cross says he wants to keep an eye on me and he doesn’t want me to be far away from me. I don’t know who hurt him but he’s so skeptical about everything.” Lily replied, her eyebrows crunched.

“Oh wowww. That sexy billionaire is really getting under my skin and I have never even met him before. Why is he such a bitch? If he didn’t have enough money to mane me pay, I’d have bashed his car. He wants to take away my princess.” Millie puffed and huffed. Lily could tell she was really hurt by this revelation but was trying to tough it out.

“I’m so sorry, Millie. I’ve been a bad friend and now I want to leave you alone.”

“Oh, no, no, it’s really okay baby. I know you would rather be with me. Common, I’m your best friend. We have been together for years. I understand and I love you. I don’t even judge you. You should know that by now. I’m just really angry at the whole situation, that’s all. I really wish I could bash that cross’s car. That way, I can be happy and rest peacefully in my grave.” Millie finished, making Lily cackle.

Ever since they have been young, Millie had that ability to be positive in any situation. She had always been like a metaphorical example of the back bone of Lily. And Lily could not be more grateful.

“You’ll come visiting, right?” Lily asked with a cute voice, cheering up a little bit.

“Yess, of course, I would. Why won’t I want to see my babygirl? Now, let’s get up and party! We have only a week left to lick each other’s asses.” Millie stood up, dragging Lily with her. Together, they both partied and danced till dawn the next morning, almost making Lily late for work.

Today was the day Lily was going to be moving to Cross’s penthouse. She had to skip going to work because of that. As he has said, big men in black suits came down to Lily’s apartment to assist her in packing. Right at the moment, Lily was on her way, her butt was resting on the leather chair in the SUV she was in. It was only Lily in the car, alongside the driver.

As soon as Lily entered into the penthouse building, her mouth opened. Lily was dazzled by everything she was staring at. The building looked like that of an hotel, there was a colored water fountain with the metallic statue of that of a snake, where little water was sprinkling out of the wide opened mouth.

Lily felt like she was staining the whole environment, it reeked of money. The front man greeted them as she passed by them, her pink bags in her hands. There were several apartments in the down part of the building, the up part was strictly pent house. Lily was stricken. She entered into the elevator, as she was led by the dark suit man who led her in.

Her legs moved in smoothly with the marbled tiles. Suddenly, the driver stops in front of an expensive looking door.

“I shall take my leave now, Miss. Mr Cross is inside waiting for you.” With this, the driver handed her a card and walked away.

It took lily more than a minute to insert the card into the door, and when she finally did, she came across Cross’s amused look.

“You really spent that much time to figure that out.” His deep voice contained the emptiness. Lily simply ignored him and looked around.

“Welcome to my humble abode, and your new home. So this is how it’s going to go. A cook comes in here four times a week. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The teeming days, you have to figure out what you’ll eat. Secondly, we are going to see the doctor in two days, I suggest you take vitamins which have been placed in your room. You’ll have a personal nutritionist who is going to monitor your intake of food. You need to take care of my baby very well.” Cross finished, and his eyes shifted to my belly like there was a baby there already.

Cross moved closer to me, and my skeptical eyes moved with him. Before I knew it, his breath started to fan my face and I was trying my best not to stare up at him.

“You look so confused and cute right now I could almost kiss you.” He said and I swallowed.
