Chapter 6 Let's Do Lunch
OMG, did he just say girlfriend? Tamera thought to herself. Dax scowls, pissed off at her ignoring Tamera. She blushes but comes back to take her order.
"And what would you like to order?" The Waitress asked.
"I'll take the steak and cheese sub with only tomato and mayo." Tamera answered.
"We have very tasty salads." The Waitress said while she looked pointedly up and down at her body.
Tamera is embarrassed and shocked at her treatment.
"Let me.." Dax started to say.
"I am well aware of everything WE serve here. I gave you my order, and I'd also like a Dr.Pepper." Tamera said.
"Diet?" Waitress asked.
"No, regular. Now be a good little waitress and fetch our food for us." Tamera ordered.
Dax is seething mad by this point. He couldn't believe the nerve of this waitress. She may be beautiful on the outside, but she's rotten on the inside.
"I hope you aren't letting what she said bother you." Dax said.
"I try to ignore shallow people. Karma is a bitch. What comes around goes around. She just proves some beauty is only skin deep." Tamera responded.
"Agreed. I go for inner beauty before outer beauty." Dax said.
"I'm not saying you aren't beautiful outside. I'm just saying that inner beauty is more important to me." Dax replied quickly.
"Don't worry, I knew what you meant. Now let's enjoy our lunch date." Tamera smiled.
The waitress brings their food out. Dax's food and drink are perfect. Tamera's sub has everything on it and her drink is diet with no ice.
"You can take this right back to the kitchen. I told you steak and cheese with tomato and mayo only. And regular Dr.Pepper. This is a diet and there's not even any ice." Tamera said, pissed.
"I'm sorry. I thought you ordered a fully loaded steak sandwich with Diet Dr.Pepper." The Waitress said, again insinuating about her weight.
"She ordered what she said she did. If you would have cared to write it down!" Dax was furious.
"Look, here's what's going to happen. You are going to return this to the kitchen and bring me what I ordered. And if you don't, I'll be talking to your manager, and we'll see how long you keep this job." Tamera glowered.
She gives Tamera a death glare but takes her food back to the kitchen.
"Please go ahead and eat. I'm sure my food will be here shortly." Tamera said.
"This is ridiculous. It's been 25 minutes. I'll wait." Dax said.
Finally, the waitress brings her the right food and drink.
"Thank you for doing your job. I hope you weren't expecting a tip." Tamera said.
"Whatever." Waitress muttered the word "cow" under her breath.
"Now I feel bad." Tamera said.
"What? Why?" Dax asked.
"Because your food is cold now and mine is hot." She explained.
"Oh, don't worry about it. On set, we never have hot food. So it's no big deal. Besides, it's still really good." Dax said.
"Here's your bill. If you like, I can take your payment and bring your receipt back to you." The waitress offered.
"That's fine." Dax agreed, giving her money and she took it.
"I can't believe how some people act." Tamera said.
"Darlin being in my business, you see all kinds." Dax explained.
There's that word again.. Darlin. Tamera squeezed her thighs together tightly. It still sends tingles through her. Something about how his voice says it. Canadian accent maybe? Whatever it is, no one, and I mean no one says it like he does!
Dax looks at Tamera and grins. Gosh, does he know what he does to me? Surely not? She wondered. The waitress returned with his change and receipt. She had written her name and number on it. Dax puts his change in his pocket then wads up the receipt and throws it on the table.
"Are you ready to go?" Dax asked.
"Yes, remind me not to sit in her area again." Tamera said.
"You and I both." Dax said.
They walked out of the restaurant not even giving her another glance.
"I was hoping you'd show me where the gym is?" Dax said, just trying to prolong their time together.
"Sure, it's great. I started making use of it. At home, I never had time or money to go to a gym. And when I found out there was one here I was grateful." Tamera said.
"You should never care what others say about your body. I think you're perfect just the way you are." Dax smiled.
"Thanks, but I don't do it for others. I do it for myself. I want to feel better and look better for myself. I don't kid myself and think I'm going to drop a ton of weight. I just want to do enough to tone up and feel better." Tamera said.
"And that's okay. As long as it's for you because it's what you really want and not let others' opinions bully you into it." Dax replied.
"Nope, all me. I lost 10lbs and was so proud and felt so much better. I know some would think that's pathetic, but it meant a lot to me." Tamera said.
"I think it's amazing. Just don't lose too much. I like curvy women that have extra to hold on to." Dax said.
Tamera's mouth drops open, and her cheeks turn red. She could not believe he just said that.
"I wish we had more time, but we're meeting at 2pm again. And if I don't hurry I'm going to be late." Dax explained.
"Oh don't let me hold you up." Tamera said.
"Can I have your number?" Dax asked.
"Sure." Tamera smiled.
"Give me your phone." He told her.
She hands him her phone. He inputs his info and then sends himself a text.
"Now you have my info too." He smiled.
"Yep." She blushed.
"I'll text you after we get done tonight if it's not too late. If not tonight, then how about breakfast?" Dax asked.
"I have work at 8am. And I normally just have a banana and granola bar at my desk." Tamera said.
"Lunch?" He questioned.
"I could do lunch." She replied
"I'll be at your office at noon?" Dax asked.
"That's fine. See you then." Tamera said.
Dax smiles and walks back to the elevator. She watches him until the door closes and then goes into her suite.
"Oh my God, am I dreaming? Things like this don't happen to me!" Tamera was shocked.
Tamera changed into workout clothes and went to the gym.
"Let's find out who you are". Some random girl thought to herself. She followed Tamera to the gym. And waited a little while before she approached her.
