Prologue: The beginning
Amelia POV
Seven years ago,
This was how it all started. I never wanted everything to end. It was blissful but I had to let him go. We were both happy but I had to end it.
"Amy," Dylan smiled at me as I crossed over to meet him at the front of the cafe we planned to meet. I was going to tell him everything today even if it means he'll hate me forever. The 'De large cafe was silent as usual. It was our favorite spot because it had the serenity we needed.
"Hi," I hugged him. Together we both walked into the cafe. We sat closed to the window where I could see everything that was going on outside. After we placed our orders, Dylan asked about school.
"The final exams are almost here," I replied without looking at him. I was scared.
"Is everything alright?" He asked. Dylan had always been the inquisitive one. He was always quick to know if something was going on.
"Everything is alright." I lied. "How is college?" I asked him.
"Fine," he simply replied. When our orders came in, I was quick to drink the iced Americano I ordered for. I also avoid making eye contact with him which he seemed to notice. "Amy are you alright?" He questioned.
I couldn't keep up with the lies so I blurted out the truth. "I can't do this anymore Dylan"
" you can't do what Amy? " he asked.
"Us? I can't be with you anymore Dylan. This isn't working between us" I said and Dylan stared at me unable to say anything because he was heartbroken.
"Say something Dylan, please I beg you. This is not easy for me" I begged.
Dylan chuckled and then asked my reason for the breakup." Why are you doing this Amy? I thought you love me"
" I don't love you anymore" I confessed which was a total lie. I had to break the relationship or we could both get hurt.
" you don't love me anymore? Amy, after all, we've been through. Tell me who is making you do this?"
I bite my lips to hold back the tears that were threatening to fall. "No one is making me do this, we are never going to work Dylan. I'm only seventeen and you are 23. You and I are also world's apart. " I took a deep breath before I continued. "We are never going to work Dylan and I don't love you anymore, please just make this easy for me and let me go"
Dylan looked at me and burst into laughter. with tears in his eyes he looked at me and yelled "oh really Amy, you never thought of that when we started dating or when I told you I love you. You are just a selfish bitch."
I looked away from making eye contact with him because I knew I was going to change my words if I looked at him.
" You never loved me right? " he scoffed, " I was just some helpless rich college boy who falls in love with you."
I couldn't say anything but keep Looking away. I pretended to be strong but deep down I was hurt. I loved him but I was doing this for my mother and our safety. I couldn't tell him why I was doing this because it will break him more and he was never going to believe me.
"Am leaving the city with my mum tomorrow, we are going back to her hometown" I informed him but he shouted at me.
" get lost Amelia, you can go and rot in your hometown. I never want to see you again. Get lost now!! " he yelled.
I took a deep breath and stood up. I was thankful that there was no one in the cafe with us because Dylan was yelling at me like I stole his life. "I hope you find someone who will love you better. " I said to him and walked out of the cafe without looking back. When I got outside, I broke down into tears and beat my chest.
" I'm sorry Dylan," I said repeatedly. It was all for the best but I knew he'll never forgive me.
