Chapter 15 You really do not spoil me after all
Casey stood frozen, unable to believe what she had just heard.
Did this woman, who didn't seem pleasant at all, really have the audacity to claim that she was... her sister-in-law?
How could that be possible!
"Bullshit!" Casey exploded, her finger pointing directly at Aimee as she shouted, "How can Pat be married? And if he is, why hasn't anyone in our family been informed? How dare you tell such a blatant lie!"
Aimee paid no attention to Casey's anger and casually replied, "No, my dear sister, Pat and grandpa are well aware. You're simply out of the loop. Maybe they didn't think you needed to know."
"You!" Casey seethed with anger.
This woman was infuriating! What did she mean by that?
Did it mean that she held no importance in the Hayden family? Not even a significant event like Patrick's marriage was shared with her.
As a pampered princess who grew up in the lap of luxury within the Hayden family, this was the first time she had experienced such mistreatment, and she couldn't bear it any longer.
Casey pointed accusingly at Aimee, her eyes burning with rage, but she remained speechless for a moment.
Aimee had no intention of arguing with Casey, but this impudent girl's words insinuated that she had brought a woman into Patrick's life. Without reason, Aimee felt a surge of anger and disregarded the principles of survival from the Read family. Instead, she wanted to personally teach this spoiled child a lesson and make her understand that as an adult, she needed to learn proper behavior.
Thus, Aimee paid no heed to Casey's dignity.
However, as she witnessed Casey on the brink of tears, Aimee found herself momentarily speechless again.
She had thought Casey to be a fierce young woman with a strong spirit, but who would have guessed that she was so fragile? Merely stating a fact was enough to enrage her to this extent.
If she continued arguing with this girl, Aimee felt she might collapse from anger herself.
Aimee sighed inwardly, turning to pick up a serving tray.
Unexpectedly, as she turned around, she found herself meeting Patrick's mischievous gaze.
Aimee froze momentarily, offering Patrick an innocent smile.
She realized how foolish she had been to bully Casey in front of her brother and grandfather. She had acted recklessly.
But what was the meaning behind Patrick's gaze?
Why didn't she detect any sign of displeasure? On the contrary, it seemed he even had some admiration.
Aimee discreetly frowned, suspicion creeping into her eyes.
Was he alright?
She had just bullied his sister, yet he still seemed to admire her?
Perhaps he didn't care for his sister at all.
Casey felt deeply wronged.
Especially now, her brother didn't lift a finger to help her. Instead, he looked at the woman who had mistreated her with affection.
Casey burst into tears, flinging herself onto the sofa and clutching Camdyn's arm, asking through her sobs, "Grandpa, am I the only one who didn't know? Why didn't you tell me? Am I still your precious granddaughter?"
Camdyn massaged his temples, feeling a headache coming on, and replied, "No, Casey, it's my decision and I haven't informed anyone yet. You're the first in the family to find out."
Only then did Casey calm down, her teary eyes fixed on Camdyn. Sniffling, she asked, "Really?"
"Of course it's true. Why would I lie to you?" Camdyn reassured her.
Casey pouted and said, "Then why didn't you discuss it with me before letting Pat get married? You don't spoil me like you used to."
Camdyn was at a loss with his granddaughter, so he looked to Patrick for help.
In the entire Hayden family, only Patrick could tame Casey.
Patrick raised an eyebrow at Camdyn, his eyes seemingly saying, "You brought this upon yourself."
Even he, the person directly involved, had not been notified, let alone the rest of the Hayden family.
Now that only Casey knew, it wouldn't be long before everyone in the Hayden family found out. Patrick wanted to witness how his dear grandpa would handle the situation on his own.
Camdyn was on the verge of losing his temper with Patrick.
With his fiery temperament, Camdyn pulled Casey aside and declared, "This was my decision. I can choose to share it or keep it to myself. I still hold the reins in this family. So, what do you intend to do about it?"
