Chapter 16
Liam was in a hurry, not even fully undressed, and put on the condom.
He grasped Claire's slender neck with one hand and pressed her head towards him with the other. Their foreheads touched, his high nose against hers, and his thin lips pressed against hers... The hot breath he exhaled made Claire tremble slightly.
She was somewhat disoriented.
But deep down, she felt something was wrong.
She and Liam shouldn't be doing this...
As the man lost himself in passion, Claire leaned close to his ear and whispered, "Liam, when are we getting a divorce?"
Liam's body stiffened.
He gently pinched her soft face, forcing her to look at him.
Claire's face was flushed, exuding the charm of a mature woman. She quietly gazed at him and murmured unconsciously, "Liam, can't you see? I don't like you anymore. I don't like you!"
She repeated it several times.
Liam's expression suddenly turned grim. He gripped her chin, stared at her for a long time, and slowly uttered a few words, "Do you think I care?"
He really didn't need to care.
Because he didn't love her, because their marriage was wrong from the start, and because...
Rationality told Liam that he didn't need to care about any childish affection right now. He just needed an obedient wife and an outlet for his excess energy.
On the bed lay Claire's soft body.
He just needed to possess her.
Just like every time before, no matter how much Claire cried, he wouldn't show mercy to her... However, looking at the tears in Claire's eyes, Liam couldn't bring himself to do it.
He let go of her and casually threw a sheet over her.
He put on a bathrobe and walked out to the living room, leaning on the sofa to smoke.
When Liam smoked, his white Adam's apple moved slightly, looking attractive and full of allure.
After a moment, thin gray smoke rose faintly around him, adding a sense of mystery to his presence.
At that moment, he didn't want to admit that he was upset.
He especially didn't want to admit that when Claire said she didn't like him anymore, he felt a surge of anger and discomfort, as if something that belonged to him had been taken away!
He didn't want to guess when she stopped liking him.
Liam smoked seven or eight cigarettes before walking out of the bedroom and slowly heading downstairs.
His handsome face was stern and cold.
The maid was still awake and was surprised by his expression. Weren't sir and madam just... Why did Mr. Coleman look so unhappy?
Liam's voice was indifferent, "Bring me some tea."
The maid handed him a cup of tea and quickly retreated.
Liam snubbed out his cigarette and carried the tea upstairs.
In the master bedroom, there was a faint sweet scent lingering in the air, reminiscent of blooming roses. On the floor lay scattered clothes of both of them.
Liam ignored them.
He sat by the bed, looking at the woman lying there.
Her skin was soft. Her waist was so slender it could be encircled with one arm. Her legs were perfectly proportioned. At this point, she was rubbing against the sheets uncomfortably due to drunkenness, unintentionally exuding feminine allure.
Liam's anger flared up again.
Maybe it was because he remembered her previous words. His tone was harsh as he urged, "Get up and drink this tea before you sleep."
Claire ignored him.
Her fair face was buried in the pillow, and her voice was trembling as she murmured, "Liam, we shouldn't be doing this..."
Liam stared at her intently.
After a while, he spoke coldly, "If you dare say anything like that again, I'll make you mute with poison!"
That way, she wouldn't be able to say those hurtful words anymore.
Liam had always been proud and rarely coaxed anyone. Besides, he had been holding back for quite some time now. He couldn't be bothered with this drunkard any longer. He simply lay down on the bed and turned off the light to sleep.
However, with Claire lying next to him, how could he sleep?
Tossing and turning for a long time, finally, Liam reached out and pulled Claire into his arms. He hissed through his gritted teeth and whispered in her ear, "If you don't like me, you can't like anyone else either!"
Claire felt cold.
Now that she had found warmth, she snuggled comfortably into his embrace.
