The Offer

Damon stood and walked out of the sitting room, his eyes blazing with something David and Emily couldn't fathom.  His twin brother, David, and his girlfriend, Emily, looked at each other uneasily as the door slammed shut behind him.

"Is he okay?" Emily asked, breaking the tense silence.

David sighed. "Unfortunately, yes. Damon has always been a bit of a hothead."

"I don't understand why he's so cruel suddenly," Emily said, shaking her head because this was her first time seeing Damon behave that way.

David nodded. "That's just the way he is. But don't take it personal. He's just... difficult."

Emily frowned. "I don't know if I can handle being around him all the time."

Daniel put a hand on her shoulder. "I know it's tough, but just try to ignore him. He'll come around eventually."

Meanwhile, Damon stormed into his room and slammed the door shut. He paced back and forth, his mind racing with thoughts of how he could get his own woman just for the sake of not feeling oppressed. He was missing a piece in his life.

He picked up his phone and dialed the number of his new personal assistant, Alice. She picked up on the third ring.

"Hello, Mr. Damon," she said in a polite, professional voice.

"Why did it take you all the time to pick up? I need you to do something for me, Alice," Damon said, his voice low and urgent.

"Of course, sir. What can I do for you?"

"I need you to work as my girlfriend instead."

There was a brief pause on the other end of the line. "I'm sorry, sir, I don't understand."

"I need a girlfriend, Alice… A Contracted girlfriend. And I will increase your pay."

Alice hesitated. "I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with that, sir."

Damon's voice turned cold. "I didn't ask if you were comfortable with it. I'm telling you to do it. You're my employee, and you'll do as I say."

Alice sighed. "I'm sorry sir."

"Your job starts tomorrow and you dare not tell anyone you are being paid to do this. I'll be sending you the address to my house, and I'll be waiting."

Damon hung up the phone and leaned back in his chair. He felt a sense of satisfaction wash over him. Finally, he had a plan to get what he wanted.

But as he sat there, he couldn't help but wonder if he was going too far. Was it really fair to ask someone to pretend to be his girlfriend? And what would happen if Alice refused? Would he be able to find someone else to fill the role? Afterall, there are many girls out there.

He pushed these thoughts aside. He was Damon, after all. He always got what he wanted.

Back in the sitting room, Emily and David sat in awkward silence. They could hear Damon's muffled voice coming from his room, but couldn't make out what he was saying.

David squeezed her hand romantically. "I know it's tough. We'll figure something out."

Just then, the door to Damon's room opened, and he emerged, a smug look on his face.

"Everything okay, bro?" David asked, trying to hide his annoyance.

"I have some work too. I'll be leaving now. We will see each other some other time." She said and attempted to stand up from the couch.

"So soon? Please stay up more." David pleaded.

"I would love to but i have some work to do and to also assist my best friend with some stuff." She said, Even though David hadn't gotten the chance to meet with Emily's best friend, he tried to understand Emily's point.

In no time, David stood up and walked into the bedroom to change his outfit and after he was done, himself and Emily walked out, heading towards the garage so he can drop her, leaving Damon alone in the sitting room.

David arrived home after dropping off his girlfriend, Emily. He had a smirk on his face as he entered the house, but his mood quickly changed when he saw his twin brother, Damon, still sitting in the sitting room with a scowl on his face.

David crossed his arms in front of his chest. "Why are you being so harsh? She's my girlfriend, Damon. The first one I've ever had, you remember that, right?"

Damon's expression softened for a moment, but it quickly turned to irritation again. "I'm just looking out for you, man. You're my brother. I don't want to see you get hurt."

David sighed. "Emily isn't going to hurt me. She's different, Damon. You haven't even given her a chance."

Damon scoffed. "You're just infatuated. You don't even know her that well."

"I know her well enough to know that she's not like the other girls," David argued.

The two brothers continued to argue, both trying to make the other realize their point of view. It wasn't until David threatened to never come over again with Emily that Damon finally relented.

"Fine, fine," Damon grumbled, throwing his hands up in defeat. "You win. You can bring her over, but if anything happens, don't say I didn't warn you."

David smiled, feeling victorious. "Thank you, Damon. You won't regret giving her a chance. She's really something special."

Damon rolled his eyes but said nothing. He knew David wouldn't stop until he had won the argument, and he didn't have the energy to continue fighting.

As the two brothers settled back into an uneasy silence, David couldn't help but think about how different his and Damon's attitudes towards relationships were. Damon had always been more jaded, never believing in the possibility of true love or long-term relationships. David, on the other hand, had always been a hopeless romantic, dreaming of finding his soulmate and living happily ever after.

David knew that he and Emily had something special, something that Damon had never experienced. He just wished his brother could see that too.

But for now, David would focus on enjoying his time with Emily, knowing that Damon would always be there looking out for him, whether he liked it or not.
