CHAPTER 13

Nine years passed. I completed my graduation while Sarah was still studying. David sent me to Italy for my training.

Yes, training, to become a ruthless gangster! I was trained for three years. Finally, at the age of twenty-two, I completed my training and I became a gangster and a drug lord. I became the king of the crime world.

When I returned to America, I learned that David got killed by his rival gang- Street Mobsters. But he too killed the head of the gang, Rudra, before dying, and his son Kushal became the head.

I was taken aback by David's death. I know that man was a cruel gangster, but he was an angel in Sarah and my life. He gave us a good luxurious life and the best education. We faced no troubles as he took care of us like a father takes care of his children.

I was determined to wipe off the Street Mobster gang. I took over all the illegal businesses that were led by David. I became the head of The Silent Assassin, which was one of the most dangerous gangs in the world.

Cabir Dhawan was my right hand. I got attached to him, in a quite short time because of his jovial nature. Cabir considered Sarah as his younger sister. He was an owner of TSA Casino, where all our illegal works were carried out secretly. He is married to Navya, who is a doctor. Well, he fell in love with her when he saw her for the first time and so kidnapped her.

Dhruv Vedant was my right hand. He handled all the work, in my absence with Cabir. He was in a relationship with Alya Saxena, who was a pole dancer in our Casino.

Alya's brother Harshad Saxena supervised drug delivery and ensured that the drugs were sent to our client without being caught by the cops.

Harshad's girlfriend Soha was a bartender in the Casino along with Mukti Wardhan. They both carried gunrunning secretly in the Casino. All our clients came to the Casino, to purchase the new rifles and guns that were issued in the market recently, which we traded illegally

Abhimanyu Thakkar; boyfriend of Mukti was a hacker. He could decode any codes or passwords and could hack computers and machines.

Ritvik Dhananje trained the new men that came into our gang.

These eight people were like a family to me. There were 400 members in our gang and all of them were well trained in martial arts. They were trustworthy. They could give their life, but they never gave the secret of our gang to the rivals.

Two more years passed. Sarah finished her graduation. She came home with a guy. They both were holding each other's hands.

"Who is he? And why are you holding his hand?" I asked Sarah sharply. I was overprotective of her.

"Bro..he..he...is Madhyam...my boyfriend," Sarah said stammering.

"Boyfriend? When did this happen? You never told me about him" I asked her.

"I am sorry Manik Bro, I was scared that you would scold me if I got indulged in relationships before completing my education" Sarah replied.

"When did your love story began?" I questioned her.

"We...we are dating each other for five years" Sarah replied and I was shocked and angry at the same time. How could she hide such a big thing from me?

"Why didn't you tell me, Sarah?" I asked her angrily.

"I am sorry Brother" she replied crying.

"Do you love my sister?" I asked Madhyam

"Yes, I do," he replied.

"Don't you ever try to hurt or ditch my sister? I swear, Madhyam, I am going to give you a painful death, that you will die a thousand times before your actual death. Am I clear?" I asked.

"Y...Yes...Bro" he replied stammering. Fear was visible on his face. He appeared to be scared of me. Well, he should be scared. He should know the consequences before breaking my sister's heart.

I went to my room and called up Cabir. He had gone to the Casino, for an important meeting with a client.

"Yes Manik, is everything okay?" Cabir asked.

"Umm, Cabir are you done with the meeting?" I asked.

"Yaya. Is everything fine?" He asked worriedly.

"Sarah brought her boyfriend, at home" I replied.

"Wow, that's nice to hear that. She has got a boyfriend" Cabir said brightly.

"Oh you mad man, what is nice in this? She loves that guy a lot" I responded.

"Oh, you mad man, what is wrong in this. She has fallen in love with a guy and that's a good thing" Cabir replied.

"Cabir, you are not understanding my concern," I said.

"Ya, so explain to me, what are you concerned for?" He asked.

"Cabir, I want all the details of that guy, Madhyam. His background? Who is he? Who are his family members? Every minute detail. What if he ditches my sister, what if he breaks her heart? Or what if he turns out to be our enemy? Anything can happen Cabir," I said worriedly.

"Why don't you tell Sarah to break up with that guy?" Cabir asked me.

"Cabir she loves him. If that fellow is genuine and comes from a good family, I have no problem with Sarah dating him. That's why I am telling you, while coming back home, get all the details about that guy. Okay?" I asked.

"Ya, alright. Don't worry" he replied.

I hung up the phone.

In the evening Cabir came home with a file in his hand.

"Here, buddy, take this file. I have fetched all the details of that guy. He seems to be a good guy," Cabir replied.

I took the file from his hand and thanked him.

"You read his bio, I am very hungry," Cabir said going to the kitchen.

"When are you not hungry, man? You look like a pregnant lady," I replied laughing.

"Shut up," he said laughing. He went to the kitchen, while I opened the file and started reading it.

His parents were divorced when Madhyam was three years old, as Anita got to know, about his husband's extramarital affair with another woman.

Vicky got married to his PA, Jhanvi, after his divorce from Anita.

Anita's Occupation: Doctor. Works in City Care hospital.

I closed the file and kept it on the table.

"I didn't find anything suspicious about him or his family. His parents got divorced as Madhyam's father had an extramarital affair. And that's normal nowadays," Cabir said eating an apple.

"Hmm, but still I am worried. I pray that bastard doesn't break Sarah's heart. I swear Cabir, I am telling you, I am going to break his bones" I replied angrily.

"Why are you being so pessimistic, man? Just like your relationship didn't work out, that does not mean, the same is going to happen in Sarah's case" Cabir said.

I closed my eyes recollecting some events of the past.

During my college time, there was a girl in my class named Jenifer. She was very studious and beautiful. I fell for her at first sight. During, Valentine's day, I proposed to her and she accepted my proposal. I loved her a lot and she too loved me.

When I was about to go to Italy for my training, I told everything to Jenifer. I told her about my past. Jenifer told me that if I get into the crime world, she will leave me. I was afraid of losing her.

I called up David and told him, that I don't want to get into the crime world.

David replied, "Manik have you forgotten, that I have done such a big favor upon you and Sarah? I have given you both everything, the best education, luxurious life. Remember Manik, nine years back, you asked me what do I want in return for the favor I am doing on you both and I didn't answer then. Now, I'll answer this question. I want you to become a gangster-like me, I want you to take over all the illegal works I do. Also, don't you want to take revenge on your mother's death from the person who killed her brutally?"

Listening to David's words, the scene of the man, killing my mother started to flash in front of my eyes. I clenched my fist angrily. I wanted to take revenge on that man who killed my mother and I was determined to give that man a painful death.

I told Jenifer that I had to get into the crime world to take revenge for my mother's death. She left me, saying that she did not want to live a life with a criminal like me.

"Manik, back to Earth," Cabir said snapping his fingers and I came out of my trance.

"Ya, tell me" I replied.

"Don't worry, I don't think so, Madhyam will betray Sarah. They both are dating each other for five years" Cabir said.

"Hmm, let's hope for the best" I replied

One Year Passed,

Sarah came running to my room sobbing. I hugged her and asked worriedly, "Sarah, what happened sweetheart?"

"Bro...why don't you leave this crime world?" She questioned me crying.

"What happened? Has someone told you something?" I asked.

"Bro, Madhyam...he...he broke up with me" Sarah cried and I clenched my fist angrily listening to her.

"Why did he broke up with you?" I asked.

"He didn't tell me the reason. But I think he got to know that you are a gangster. That's why..he...he broke up with me" Sarah cried.

"That bastard is gone" I muttered angrily clenching my fist.

"Sarah, you go to your room. And yes stop crying for that jerk! He doesn't deserve your tears" I told wiping off her tears.

"Bro, first mom left us, then Uncle David, and then Madhyam. Now, please you don't leave me ever" Sarah said crying.

I kissed her temple and replied, "I promise princess, I'll never leave you. Your brother is going to be there beside you always"

"I love you so much bro," Sarah said hugging me.

" I love you, even more, now stop crying and go to your room. Okay?" I said and Sarah nodded.

No sooner did she go to her room, I went downstairs to the living room where my gang members were seated.

"Guys, let us leave for Madhyam's place," I told angrily, putting the gun in my pocket.

"Why? Is everything fine?" Cabir asked.

"That bastard, he ditched Sarah. He broke up with her," I replied angrily.

"What? Why? And when did this happened?" Mukti asked.

"I'll answer you all later, right now let us leave for Madhyam's place. I am going to give that bastard a painful death. He ditched my sister, Manik Malhotra's sister. I won't spare him alive," I told clenching my fist.

I left for Madhyam's house, along with Cabir, Dhruv, Abhimanyu, Mukti, and Harshad. I asked my other gang members to take care of Sarah until I come.

30 minutes later

I got a call from Alya.

"Yes, Alya tell me," I said answering the call.

"Ma...Manik...Sarah," Alya said crying.

"What happened to her, is she okay?" I asked worriedly.

"Manik, she is not in her room," Alya said.

"What? What do you mean by she is not in her room? Check the entire mansion she might be there, somewhere," I replied.

"No Manik, we searched everywhere, she is nowhere to be found," Alya replied.

"I am coming home right now," I replied and hung up

"Cabir takes a U-Turn, we are going back to the mansion. Sarah is missing," I told worriedly.

"What?" Everyone asked shockingly.
