Chapter Two
I had finally gotten comfortable in bed, when a scream coming from inside the house makes me jolt awake. I spring out of bed and out the door where Brendon runs up the stairs, both of us giving each other a look of concern. I bolt up the other stairs towards Belle's room who was on the third floor, her door was wide open as I run in to see her standing there holding clothes in her hands.
"This is a disaster!" She cries clutching the clothes in arms, as Brendon and the rest of the guys run into the room, Danny for some reason holding a frying pan "these were limited edition, now they're ruined" she continues to cry, throwing the wet clothes onto the floor looking towards us.
"Why'd your scream?" Brendon asks annoyed behind me, it was clear that she wasn't hurt or in any kind danger but still decided to wake us all up.
"I woke up to all my designer clothes, bags and shoes ruined by this leaky roof" she cries pointing towards the ceiling above her where a tiny hole stood, water dripping through it "Now I'm gonna have to call daddy again and ask for more money" she finishes wiping her tears away while picking up her phone, as Brendon spoke up again.
"It's not gonna cost much to fix the roof, I can do it" he suggests walking over to check the damage, which but Belle just gives him a confused look.
"I didn't mean for the house, I'm gonna have to buy a whole new wardrobe" she exclaims walking into her bathroom away from all of us to talk with her dad, I stand there still half asleep trying to process what happened.
"Well if this is just about designer clothes and no one is dying, I'm going back to bed" I hear Danny yawn from behind me, I smile turning around as everyone starts to exit the room, me and Brendon the last ones to exit.
"I thought moving away from my mums house would stop the chaos, apparently it's just followed me here" he exclaims as we walk down the stairs bringing a laugh out my lips, once we make it to my door he stops placing his hands in his pockets.
"Thanks for today, Cameron would have probably killed me if you didn't step in" he smiles leaning against the wall, yeah he was probably right.
"It's okay, it just takes a while to get used to how he likes things" I smile as I hear Cameron start to shout things from his bedroom "but it's totally worth it in the end!" I shout directing it more to Cameron's room, Brendon just laughs telling me goodnight making his way to his own room.
I stand by my door for a while looking around the house, it's crazy to me that I get to live with my best friends in our own house. Even with all the craziness I can just tell it's gonna be amazing, with that thought I closed the door heading back to bed.
I just finished my morning run and was getting ready for work, I wanted to have the week off so I could unpack the rest of the house, but the boss man wasn't having any of it. I walk down the stairs for the kitchen when shouting erupted, as I walk in Belle and Brendon facing off.
"What the heck is going on" I ask placing my things on the side causing the shouting to stop, Danny was sat on the side eating crisps while shaking his head.
"This idiot thought it would be a good idea to switch the water off in the house!" Belle shouts pointing towards Brendon who had tools in his hands, by the looks of it he might be trying to fix something.
"I've turned it off for a few hours while I fix some of the broken water pipes, you were the one that was complaining about them yesterday!" Brendon exclaims back at Belle who looked like she was about to hit him with something, Danny was still sat on the counter eating crisps watching this all unfold.
"It's only gonna be for a few hours Belle, it'll be worth the wait in the end" I smile trying to calm them all down before I left for 5 hours, Brendon thanks me turning to Belle who shook her head.
"You know Cam was right, why'd you even move in here, you're just Danny's annoying older brother?" she spits towards him pushing him out the way leaving the kitchen, Danny who finished his crisps, jumps off the counter patting his brother on the back.
"You're really making enemies with everyone in this house" he laughs while Brendon rolls his eyes "see you after work Paige, I'll try to keep the house in one piece, no promises for him though" he smiles looking back at Brendon before walking off down the hall, probably to go see if there's anymore drama he can insert himself in.
"Yeah do you have to leave today? You're the one person who's stopped people attacking me since we got here" Brendon smiles jokily, it sounded like he was joking but I don't think he was finding it funny.
"Sorry, boss man says I've got to work, just stay out of everyone's way today you'll be fine" I smile patting his shoulder, before walking down the hall and out the front door for work.
As I walk down the stairs of the porch I see a silver car at the end of our path, the two guys sat in it quickly look away when they see me. In seconds the car was speeding down the road away from the house, I stand there confused for a second but realise, I'll be late for work and I leave.
Walking up the steps after work, I felt like my legs were going to fall off, I mean working as a waitress can be hard with all the walking, but today the place was packed. As I walk in the door Brendon was walking down the stairs with a smile on his face, well he isn't dead which is a good thing.
"I see you didn't get hurt by anyone while I was gone" I smile closing the front door behind me, he laughs shaking his head following me into the kitchen.
"I took your advice and stayed out of everyone's way, the water pipes are done, so that's one thing to check off the list" he smiles placing his tools town, while opening the fridge pulling a drink out.
"Well I've got a day off tomorrow, I can help you cross more things off that list" I smile taking a seat at the table which wasn't here when I left, I wonder what else the others have done since I was at work?
"That would actually help" he smiles as the I hear Belle angrily make her way down the stairs, Brendon just shrugs his shoulders sitting beside me.
"Where is he?" She shouts walking into the kitchen looking Brendon dead in the eye "I just got home from buying a whole new wardrobe, what do I find? The hole in my roof is still dripping water! I thought you were gonna fix it" she says crossing her arms towards Brendon, it seemed like he did a lot today and she was just out shopping.
"I was kind of busy, fixing the water pipes you were complaining about" Brendon starts to defend himself, but she's quick to shut him down.
"We're letting you live here rent free as you don't have a job, I was told you would fix up the house for us, but you're not doing a very good job" she shouts at him, I knew I couldn't just sit here and let her shout at him for absolutely no reason.
"And what were you doing all day Belle? Like you said you were out shopping! Brendon has been working all day fixing the pipes for us! Give the man a break he's only one person!" I shout standing up looking towards her, she seems taken back by the fact I spoke up "I've just got back from work to hear all this! Tomorrow I'm helping Brendon with some of the work, the first thing we'll do is fix the roof until then, back off" I say in a harsh voice, I've never spoke to her in that way before but it was horrible the way she was talking down to Brendon.
She just nods apologising making her way back upstairs with her tail between her legs, I shake my head taking a seat back looking towards Brendon.
"Thanks for that" he smiles taking a sip from his drink, I shrug my shoulders as Danny walks through the door dripping with sweat.
"I took a leaf out of your book Paige, I went for a run" he says out of breath pulling a drink out, that's great he could be my new running buddy! "worst mistake of my life" he continues, before making his way out the kitchen and slowly up the stairs, I guess not!
Brendon and I just stare at each other laughing.
