Prologue 1
With tears brimming in her eyes, Rhianne forced a smile as she faced the man she had learned to love in just a few weeks. She did not think, and she never thought, that a time like this would come; a time where in she would be able to fall in love like this. With all the things she has gone through from such a small age, she thought it was still impossible for her to fall in love. But she was wrong.
Here standing in front of her was the proof that once in her life, she had learned how to love.
“Don’t be sad, Rean. I will be back, okay? We will not meet for a few months in person, yes, but there’s still other ways for us to talk to each other. What’s the use of e-mails? Of chats? You won’t even notice that five months will pass by. Five months is short, after all,” said the person standing in front of her. A small smile was present on his lips as he gently touched her cheek. She enjoyed his touch and could not help but lean against his touch.
Don’t cry, Rhianne. Don’t cry. You have to be strong, that was her mantra inside her mind but still, the tears slowly rolled down her cheeks. She knew that the man would only be gone for a while and that he would surely come back for her. But she could not help but feel sad.
They are currently at the airport waiting for his light. He will be flying to Tokyo, Japan to manage their family business in the said place for it was going through a crisis right now. At first, he also did not want to go to Japan but because of his grand father’s order, he has no other choice but to agree.
Even if she wanted to stop the man from going, Rhianne knew she could not do it. She has no right to do that to him. Yes, she loved him but that was not a reason for her to stop him from going. Added the fact that she was not sure if he was feeling the same way for her, too. She felt that he cared for her, yes, but caring was far different from love. But she still hopes and she prays that he will learn to love her, too, that he was also in love with her, too.
That was all that she have right now: hope.
He wiped the tears from both of her cheeks and locked her face between his palms. “Don’t cry, please. It pains me to see you crying. You know that since the start, your tears are my weakness. Rean, please know that I don’t want to go, that I don’t want to leave you. I do not want to leave you here knowing that you will be alone again, but I have to do this. Not just for me but for…” He let out a sigh as he gently placed a light kiss on her forehead.
