Chapter 5

James

"James!" I heard my mom calling my name. She's downstairs and I don't know why she's even calling me.

"Wait a sec." I said.

I wore my plain white shirt and head downstairs. I can smell the scent of baked cookies and I knew that my mom is at the kitchen. If you smell something like that, she's definitely at the kitchen, baking something. It's her hobby and she's good at it.

I sat down at the counter and stare at my mother as she puts the baked cookies that she made in a red colored box, she wrapped it with a ribbon as soon as she finishes placing the lid on it.

"Who are you giving that?" Curiosity always hits me. I can be Sherlock Holmes someday. I lean my back against the wall and waited for her reply.

She have this smile placed unto her lips and then she look at me and said, "For the Collins, I would like you to give it to them. I should be the one who supposed to be giving this but I have to pick up your brother. He have a flat tire and he wants me to fetch him."

"Why can't father do that instead? And you give that to the Collins and I'll head on the park and do some jogging?" I suggested. But none of what I said was possible to happen because knowing my mother, I must do what I was told to do.

She turns around and handed me the box of cookies wrapped in a red ribbon, "Your father is at work dear. You can go jogging after you gave that cookies to the Collins. Be a good boy and listen to your mother, okay?" She said in a soft tone of voice.

"Okay okay." I followed what I was told to do and went straight to the Collins residence. I wish that Natalie will open the door for me and not the grumpy looking Anna. What happened a while ago isn't hard to forget that's why I doubt that Anna will treat me nicely.

I rang the doorbell and let out a heavy breath as I wait for someone to answer the door. I heard footsteps and the door opened. I wasn't expecting to see the grumpy girl in front of me.

"Hey Anna, how are you doing?" So much for ruining her morning. She have this unexplainable look written all over her face and I find it hard to guess if she was still mad by the incident a while ago.

"What do you want pervert? Is that a peace offering for being a jerk? I'm sorry but I won't be accepting that because maybe you put something in it. Oh! Maybe you put a poison in it? Or maybe some drugs?" She crossed her arms against her chest and have this mischievous look plastered on her face.

I maybe a jerk but as to what she was thinking, I won't do such a thing. I ran my hands through my hair, calming myself down. I settled my eyes upon hers and replied in a sweet and smooth manner, "Anna, Anna, Anna. Don't act like I would really be giving this as a peace offering because first of all, seeing you half naked wasn't my fault, second, I'm not fond of giving stuffs to others like peace offerings and gifts and lastly, this is from my mother. I apologize but there are no drugs and poison inside. If you want some of that, I will be delighted to go back at our house and ask my mother to put some of that. But don't blame me if something happened to you." I ended my sentence with a signature smirk placed unto my lips.

I didn't waited for her reply and turn around. Before I take a step out of their porch, she grabbed my arm. When I turn to look at her, she was looking down at her feet.

"So you've decided to take it away from my hands?"

She didn't reply and took the box away from my hands. She quickly turn and went straight inside her house. She closes the door with a loud bang and it was evident that she was getting grumpy again. I can't help but to smile.

"You should at least say thank you?" I shouted, enough for her to hear but I doubt that she'll reply back.

Anna

That perverted jerk is getting on my nerves. He is driving me crazy and I can't help but to feel mad about everything he does.

I place the box of cookies on the counter and went to open it as soon as I place it there. I grab one cookie and ate it. I feel as if I'm floating in thin air and my mouth felt like it tasted heaven. Her mother is so good at this. The cookies helped me enlighten my mind a bit. I went to our living room while holding the box of cookies. I lied comfortably in our comfortable and soft couch as I watch my favorite movie, 'The Mean Girls'. I shall do my home works later and take a break off for couple of hours. A nerd should have a break sometimes.

After an hour, the doorbell rang and when I went to look who it was, it was no other than Josh.

"Josh? What are you doing here?" I can't explain if I'm happy to see him or not because my comfortable no disturbance zone has completely disturbed by him. Not that it was really his fault.

He scratches the back of his neck and smiled as soon as he saw me, "Just wanted to say hi!" He waved his hand and I got the feeling that the reason he was here was opposite as to what he was saying.

"Hi?" I said awkwardly. "Care to tell me the real reason?" I added.

"I thought you and I could spend some time together. I've been busy lately and I just want some bonding time together with you, Anna." He wasn't able to look at me in the eyes.

He's like my best friend besides Amy but sometime I really feel awkward when I'm with him. I don't know why though but what should I be thinking right now if I'm up for this hang out thing. I mean, my parents aren't home and I'm alone with a guy. It's not that I don't know him to get myself in trouble, it's just this day, right?

"Oh I see. Come on in?" I open the door wide open for him to enter our house. He sitted at the couch as soon as he enter and I went to sit beside him after I closed the door.

"The thing is," He said.

"What?" I replied.

"There is someone joining us. He's new and school and I thought that he could join us for him to meet some new friends. He's kind and I think you two will get along well."

"What? I don't think that will be a great idea because-" The doorbell rang before I even finished my sentence.

"I'll get it." Josh said. I kept my eyes focused on our main door and as soon as Josh opened the door, I was surprised to see who it was. It was no other than, "James?!" I said in a high tone of voice.
