Chapter 10 Pride And Honor

At the sight of Maximilian, members of the Griffiths in the conference room pulled a long face.

"Maximilian? How did you, a good-for-nothing get in here? Don't you know where this place is? Get the hell out of here, right now!"

Franklin instantly pointed at Maximilian, shouting angrily.

This piece of shit was nothing in the family. He was not qualified to step into the Griffith Group, even less qualified to be in this conference room!

"How did he, the wimp, get in here? Isn't it a disgrace to us all?"

"Yeah! How dare he ask Victoria to agree to it? He is actually getting Victoria into trouble. What a stupid man!"

“Interesting! How dare a gigolo boss around here?"

For a while, relatives of the Griffiths, as well as senior executives in the company were finding faults with Maximilian in the conference room, with obvious contempt and disdain in their remarks.

"Why are you here?" Panicked, Victoria was quite angry at him.

Maximilian shouldn't have come here without her consent.

However, he walked towards Victoria, wearing a gentle smile on his face

During the past four years, he had never given her anything, or helped her with anything.

Everyone despised him, while Victoria was the only one always by his side.

Even though Victoria was usually strict with him and angry at him from time to time, Maximilian didn't take it seriously.

Because Victoria was his wife, with whom he shared his past and would build his future.

He used to be useless and put Victoria under attacks.

He would inherit the Dragon Sect and give Victoria a prosperous life.

Maximilian stepped forward and stood beside Victoria, saying seriously,

"Victoria, accept the challenge. The collaboration will be yours!"

Staring into Maximilian's determined eyes, Victoria was in a trance for a while.

It seemed that Maximilian had really changed, and what he said would come true.

“OMG! It’s a real cracker. What did you say? Maximilian, what do you think this place is? This is the Griffith Group. You can't just come in and talk nonsense! Get the hell out of here!" Franklin screamed angrily.

Maximilian had no status in the Griffith family. How dare he come to the company to make a decision? He was simply presumptuous!

"Grandpa, do you hear what Maximilian says? He actually wants to intervene in our family’s business.”

Meanwhile, Iris wore a cold face by the side. Her almond-shaped eyes were so prominent that she couldn’t wait to kill Maximilian with her eyes.

Samuel’s expression became graver. He glanced at Maximilian with obvious displeasure and said in a cold voice,

"Get out!"

As an outside in the family, he had disgraced the Griffiths in H City. How dared he meddle in the affairs of the Griffith Group?

What was his motive?

Did he intend to encroach on the assets of the Griffiths?

Nevertheless, instead of responding to Samuel, Maximilian gazed at Victoria seriously, holding her delicate hand in his hand, and said,

"Trust me."

The two words made Victoria impulsive to turn around and said to Samuel,

"Grandpa, I promise you."

After saying that, she turned to stare at Franklin with arrogance and coldness in her eyes.

"Franklin, don't you just want to drive me out of Yunsheng Pharmaceutical? Fine, I accept your challenge. I will resign if I fail to win the cooperation with the Graham Group!"

"Victoria, you’d better think carefully. This matter is not only related to your own development, but also related to the development of my Griffith family in the next few years." said Samuel.

"I've made up my mind."

Victoria responded with determination,

Hearing her words, a sneer appeared at the corner of Franklin's mouth, and then he said,

“Great! Victoria, you have made your promise, and everyone present today can be your witness. Don't back out in the future."

"Of course I won’t! If I win the cooperation with Graham Group, what will you do Franklin?"

Victoria retorted, seemingly confident in herself.

She didn't know why she said that out of their expectations. Perhaps it was the courage and confidence that Maximilian had given her.

One must live with dignity!

“Yep! As long as you can nail down the cooperation with the Graham, I won't compete with you for the position of vice president in the company, and you can just take it!"

Franklin laughed coldly, and his eyes were full of tease.

With her alone, she still wanted to win the cooperation with Graham Group. She was simply asking for the moon!

“Deal!”

Victoria agreed, then held Maximilian and left the conference room under the gaze of the crowd.

It was only after they had left that a heated discussion broke out in the room.

“Victoria really overestimated herself, and she wants to cooperate with Graham Group. I’m afraid she will resign in the end."

"It is because of Maximilian’s interference. What a good husband he is!"

"He is just a god-for-nothing who thinks he's capable of something. I'd like to see how he can help Victoria get the contract."

Wearing a cold face, Samuel knocked the cane in his hand and said,

On the other side, Victoria and Maximilian returned home.

Laura, Maximilian’s mother-in-law, suddenly rushed up and gave him a slap on his face, scolding,

“Why did you go to the company today? How dare you make Victoria agree to a bet with Franklin? Do you know you're pushing Victoria into the fire pit?"

Maximilian froze and was just about to open his mouth to explain, while Laura continued to chastise him,

"Get out."

Maximilian had no choice but went into the kitchen to clean up the tableware.

Victoria looked at Maximilian's forlorn back, grumbling,

"Mom, what are you doing? It was me who agreed to it. It has nothing to do with Maximilian."

"How is it possible? Do you think I'm stupid? I've heard everything about it. That he barged into the conference room and made you say yes, and now you're still defending him?"

Gritting her teeth with anger, Laura couldn’t wait to smack Maximilian!

Looking at his busy shadow in the kitchen, he was doomed to be a worthless crap!

“Are you out of your mind? How dare you listen to that punk?" Laura reprimanded, poking Victoria's forehead.

Victoria was also feeling sad. She was just furious at that moment, and agreed to the challenge with Maximilian’s encouragement.

However, after thinking it over, she realized that she was digging her own grave.

How could Graham Group possibly work with the Griffiths?

"Mom, please leave me alone for a minute."

Victoria went into her bedroom and snapped the door.

Laura stomped her foot in anger. Glared at Marcus who was still reading newspaper on the sofa, she scolded,

"You just glue your eyes on the newspaper. Our daughter is about to be thrown out of the company, and our family will become poor again soon!"

Marcus moaned and said,

"Don’t be so anxious. Things will eventually sort themselves out. Let the young people settle their own affairs. Besides, it's not likely that our daughter can't survive outside the company."

"What are you babbling about? Could it be that you don't want the old man’s inheritance anymore?"

When Laura heard this, she was fuming,

"Marcus, I have married you for so many years, and all we have got is this tiny house with just three rooms, while both your elder and younger brothers have been living in villas!”

“How could you act like the wimp Maximilian who doesn't fight for anything? You really piss me off!"

After saying that, Laura went up to hit him, and Marcus had to defend passively before saying,

"Stop it! I’m wrong, is that enough?"

A moment later, Maximilian walked into the bedroom holding the feet-washing basin with both hands. Looking at Victoria lying on the bed, he said gently,

"Victoria, I’ve got hot water for you."

Victoria got up, her eyes reddened. Staring at Maximilian, she asked seriously,

"Maximilian, you lied to me previously in the conference room, didn't you? What will happen to Sissy if I lose my job? What about your mother?"

Victoria's eyes were already filled with tears.

She hated herself for believing in Maximilian's words, and now, it was too late to regret for it.

Hearing those words, Maximilian felt warmed in his heart.

It turned out that she had always cared about his mother. She was still as kind as ever.

Maximilian’s mother had always been in poor health, and her medical treatment cost a lot of money, which was paid by the Griffiths.

Recently, his mother was running a small business in the old house. Maximilian went back every few days to visit her.

With the thought in his mind, Maximilian helped Victoria remove her shoes and socks. Cupping her delicate jade-like feet with both hands, he dipped them into the lukewarm water. Then, he said softly,

"Victoria, I never lie to you. You’ll get the contract."

When he said this, an incomparably powerful aura surged out of his body. He looked at Victoria seriously, wiping away the teardrops from the corners of her eyes.

"Victoria, it’s my fault that you suffered a lot in the past. From now on, believe me! It won’t happen again, never! I'll give you and Sissy a bright future that everyone envies!"

“By then, everyone in H City will be proud of and honored by the fact that you are Maximilian’s wife!"
