CHAPTER 2
TARA
Oh, the agony!
I was expecting a little kid to pop up from behind and say hi step sis, but no! It had to be the hit one.
Dennis is my stepbrother.
Throughout that dinner, I was lost, feeling upset about this news.
I thought my heart found itself a new soulmate, but now I feel irritated knowing he's my future step brother.
Dad was lost in love with his lover, that he failed to notice how down I was.
Dennis on the other hand, was focused on his phone, eating his meal at the same time.
"Maybe having him as a brother won't be that bad," I reasoned, thinking of all the cool things we could do as siblings.
First of all, he's a ten out of ten. I could use him to become super popular in school and make Xavier feel useless.
He has all the qualities. I'm sure we'll make a great team.
"Tara, dear. Why don't you show your brother around? Your mom and I have something to discuss?" Dad spoke, eyes on his darling future bride, acting naughty.
I frowned at his words, especially the part where he called her my mom.
They aren't married yet, but he's already calling her my mom.
Anyways, what's the biggie in that?
"Sure," I agreed, rising to my feet.
Dennis didn't even wait for me to say a word. He just got up and walked out of the dining. I followed him from behind.
I began showing him around the house, trying to strike conversations with him. But I soon realized my hunky bunny of a step brother might not be team worthy like I hoped.
Dude was quiet, like super quiet. He showed no care to whatever I was saying or showing him. He kept acting like my tour was boring like crap!
His attitude changed my perception of him and I lost any hint of crush I had for him.
He's no cool. He's an ass!
But I can't stop him from being my brother. Very soon, we'll be living under the same roof.
My life is ruined.
.
When love is in the air, lovers won't hesitate to make the best of it.
Within a month, my Dad and my stepmother got married and held a grand celebration to celebrate their union.
Poor me sat with my friends at the party, watching them dance at the center, staring into each other's eyes lovingly.
I hate to admit it, but Dad was right about Stepmom. She's really a great lady.
In just one month, I got to see her for who she truly was and fell in love with her motherly side.
So, it makes me happy to see them together.
As for Dennis... Don't get me started.
"Tara, your brother is so hot!" Sonia shrieked, gawking at Dennis.
He was standing in a corner like some badass mafia boss watching a show.
Hot? Bleh! I stopped viewing him as hunky bunny after getting to know him in one month. Dude is the biggest loner I've ever seen.
And he's annoying too!
Whenever he comes around to stay, he'll lock himself in the room Dad gave to him, like a vampire and only step out when he's hungry or when it's time to leave.
"You're so lucky girl."
"Why don't you introduce us to your brother?" My friends requested, getting all excited and lost in admiration.
It made me sick.
"Quit dreaming, bitches. That dude is as cold as ice. He won't even give you the fireworks you're looking for," I said, rolling my eyes.
But my friends mistook my advice for an overprotective sister. "Already playing your sisterly role. We're proud of you, Tara."
"Fuck you," I groaned, giving them the middle finger.
They laughed at me.
Soon, the celebration was over and everyone was back to their everyday lives, except for me.
With the new addition to my home, some arrangements and plans had to be made. Step mom and Dennis moved into my home, marking their ground in a swift.
Stepmom and Dad stayed together as a couple, while Dennis stayed in his coffin of a bedroom.
My room was far from his, and honestly, I was super happy about it.
Just then, Dad and Stepmom announced that they were heading for their honeymoon very soon, and this made me so sad.
Not that I want them to stay. I'm going to be stuck with this Dracula!
"Now Tara, I know you and Dennis haven't been getting along lately. But I need you to just try and be a sister to your brother," Step Mom advice sweetly, cupping my face.
She has been noticing the distance between us and didn't like it.
"Please, I know he can be a brick at times, but Dennis is full of surprises. When we leave, try to get him to go out with you and do some fun stuffs. Trust me, you'll love him," She assured me, smiling.
I sighed at her words and promised to do my best.
"That's my girl," She smiled, pecking me on the forehead.
What a sweet lady. Why did she have to birth a rock and call him a son?
.
"Seriously? The party is tomorrow night?" I spoke with Sonia over the phone while in bed.
She confirmed that the party, which is going to be held by one of the coolest boys in our school, was taking place tomorrow.
That's when my parents are traveling.
"I hope you're coming?"
"Uh, definitely!" I laughed, swinging my legs.
Sonia went on to tell me about Stella's secret research. Xavier is also coming to the party as well.
"I heard he's not going to be alone," She added, hinting on something we both know.
I scoffed, knowing that I was right to doubt his so-called apology. "He's going with Vivian?"
"Bingo."
"Asshole. I knew that animal was nothing but a liar. Does he really take me for a fool? I've dated a lot of guys to know when one is lying and when one isn't."
"Since he thinks you're dumb, why don't you pop his bubbles tomorrow night? He's going to be shocked when he sees you!" Sonia laughed.
Xavier doesn't know that I'm aware of this party. He thinks I'm busy with my new family and won't have time to do all that now.
That'll explain his call yesterday. He was being so suspicious, asking if we could meet up tomorrow. But I played along and said I won't be free throughout this weekend.
That gave him the go ahead to unveil his dirty side.
"I'm so gonna shame his ass tomorrow. I can't miss this," I planned, ready to make him pay.
But when the day finally came, something else happened.
"Now Tara, you behave yourself with your brother and don't cause any trouble."
"Seriously? Now I'm the kid?" I frowned at him while stepmom laughed.
Dad gave instructions to Dennis, putting him in charge of the house, while I was made to watch like the sidekick.
"You don't have to worry about us. I'll take care of everything," Dennis assured Dad, pleasing him with his manly voice.
I rolled my eyes from the wide, mimicking him.
Dad saw me and sighed. Then he said, taking me to the corner, "Tara, behave yourself. Remember we aren't alone anymore. Always listen and treat your brother right, okay?"
"Come in. You're making it sound like I'm a terror. Believe me, I won't cause any trouble," I promised.
That made him happy.
"If you need anything, ask Dennis. But if its something I have to handle, call, okay?"
"Definitely," I winked, giving him a hug.
Soon, Dad and Stepmom were out the door, on their way to enjoy their honeymoon.
When they drove off, I shut the door with delight, feeling the free air in the house.
"Alone at last," I sighed out sweetly, arms stretched out, turning around to start my no-parents day.
That's when my eyes came locking with Dennis, he stared at me silently, saying nothing.
This felt awkward.
I had to compose myself and made an attempt to strike a conversation—a joke at least—but he walked out on me, heading for his room.
"Jerk. It's a good thing we don't stay in the same room," I smirked, heading to my room also.
I'm glad he's minding his own business and I'm facing mine. Everyone staying in their own lane without looking at the other.
"I can go a whole week and forget he even exists," I chuckled, diving into my wardrobe to find a killer dress.
I have a lot, but I want the one that spells out the word REVENGE!
"Tonight is going to be lit!" I smiled, digging deeper.
When night finally fell, I got myself ready to leave for the party.
The party is going to be at a well known club in the city, and I wanted to make sure I got there on time to witness Xavier cheating on me with Vivian.
I want to get a concrete and solid evidence to keep him away from my lane forever. And also, I want to shame his ass till he can't cheat anymore.
Once I was ready, I hurried to the door to leave, only to find it locked!
"What the..." I pulled to confirm again and began searching around for the key.
We never take the key off from the door, unless... "Dennis!" I growled, balling a fist.
"Just because Dad placed him in charge, he decided to put us both in lockdown?!" I groaned, dropping my purse on the chair, heading for his room.
"Someone's got to teach him the rules of this house," I grumbled, approaching his room, ready to give him a piece of my mind.
But on getting to his half opened door... I froze!
Right inside the room, in front of his laptop, sat Dennis, looking all sweaty with no shirt on, his face filled with pleasure, and...and his hand wrapped around his cock, jerking off to a porn video!
