Diana

“We have suddenly been given permission to go-ahead with the Diana spy mission,” said Sarah, “but our contact has suggested you two get married before you go.”

Amora and Luna looked at each other. Amora was a woman in her thirties and an experienced secret agent while Luna was in her late teens and had never been on a spy mission before. Sarah was their boss, in the Federation Military Intelligence Service, or FMIS for short, of the planet Asha.

“I’m not surprised,” said Amora, “because women being married to each other are so commonplace on the Planet Diana, I’m amazed it wasn’t suggested before.”

“Yes,” agreed Sarah, “although she doesn’t give that reason. She claims that the best place for her to contact you is Sappho Island. As you know, it is a tourist island that’s part of the Freda archipelago. It seems you have to prove you are a lesbian couple to stay there and she suggests the easiest way to do this, is to get married.”

“Oh I see,” said Amora.

“Do you have any problem with that?” asked Sarah looking at Amora.

“No, of course not,” said Amora.

“Are you sure?” asked Sarah, “because, you’ve been a heterosexual woman, up until recently.”

“That’s only because I never tried having a relationship with a woman before,” answered Amora, “I don’t think I could go back to having relationships with men again.”

Sarah then looked directly at Luna.

“And what about you?” she asked.

Luna just grinned and shrugged her shoulders.

“Yea, it will be fun,” she said.

“Oh good,” said Sarah. “Because I’ve arrange for you two to be married this afternoon.”

“But I’ve got nothing to wear,” complained Luna, putting her hands to her face in mock distress and then gave a cheeky grin.

“I’m sorry it’s such short notice,” said Sarah, “but because Diana is such an isolated planet they only have a passenger ship go their once every four weeks. It will be leaving tomorrow and you will have to travel on it, if you are posing as tourists. So if you don’t catch it we will lose a month and perhaps the chance to contact our informant.”

“You haven’t given us much time,” pointed out Amora, “we will also have to pack up a lot of luggage for the long journey to Diana.”

“No, you won’t,” explained Sarah, “We want you to pose as wealthy tourists, as it will give you preferential treatment while on the planet. So a large amount of money will be put into your bank accounts and you are free to spend the money on expensive clothing and everything you want on the passenger ship going there.”

“That’s a sudden change,” said Amora in surprise, “you were saying a few weeks ago that you had trouble getting the money for this spy mission, because it was low priority.”

Sarah frowned.

“Everything has changed since then,” Sarah admitted, “it has now been classed as a high priority mission and we have been given a huge budget to ensure its success.”

Amora wanted to know why the mission had suddenly been upgraded to high priority but knew from experience it was best not to ask such questions but Luna wasn’t so cautious.

“So why has it been changed for a low priority to a high priority mission?” she asked directly.

Sarah frowned again and looked annoyed.

“That information is classified,” she said sternly. “You are only given enough information to do your job and nothing more. This is because you might be captured and questioned. So the least you know, the less information you might reveal.”

“Oh I see,” said a chastened Luna.

“As you are aware,” continued Sarah, “Diana has a closed society, and won’t allow strangers to go there except for the Freda islands, where they can earn tourist money. So it is going to be extremely difficult for you to come back with any proof, of how badly men are oppressed on Diana. Because of this, we have created recording cameras in this jewellery for you to both wear and hope it will not be detected by Diana security.”

“Would that be proof?” questioned Luna, “it’s so easy to doctor any film recording.”

“We use a technology on the camera,” explained Sarah, “which fixes the images and makes any manipulation of the film impossible. I thought you learned all about that in your training.”

“I forgot,” admitted Luna.

Sarah placed two pendant necklaces on the desk in front of her. Both women picket one up and place it around their necks.

“Do you know how these work?” Sarah asked.

“You just squeeze the pendant between your thumb and finger to turn on the camera,” said Amora.

Sarah nodded in agreement

“You’re not to turn on the cameras until you find evidence of how badly they treat men on Diana,” she said, “don’t worry too much about Freda we know what goes on there. It is the rest of the planet, the places where outsiders are not allowed to visit; we want to find out about.”

Sarah stood up and the two young women did the same and they all kissed each other and Luna and Amora left the office.

They had been training for nearly year studying Diana’s society and history. They learned that Diana had once been a peaceful matriarchal planet but then it was invaded by the military forces of a male dominated planet called Smali. After the war which the Smali military easy won there was a period of genocide where nearly all the men and children and half the women were killed. The women who survived where raped and abused.

The Federation then intervened and forced the Smali military to withdraw. Since then, the surviving women created a closed society where outsiders have not been allowed to visit the planet except for the Freda Islands, which is far away from any other land mass on Diana.

After that, there were stories that men were treated extremely harshly on Diana but the planet’s government wouldn’t comment on these stories, or allow anyone to come to Diana to discover the truth. So Amora and Luna were recruited as spies to find out what was really going on. They were to contact a mysterious woman called Mary who would give them safe passage to restricted zones of the planet.

They were married in a quick ceremony that only took ten minutes. Both women were disappointed about the short time it took and would have preferred a long drawn out formal procedure that would have given more meaning to the ritual. Then they had to quickly catch a shuttle to an orbiting space station from where the passenger ship was ready to leave for Diana.

Because of the disappointment over the wedding ceremony they decided to instead have a romantic dinner together in a small restaurant on the passenger ship. They went the dress shops on the space ship and found two glamorous dresses for themselves. They had told the staff at the restaurant they had just been married and the staff did their best to set the scene with small quiet table lit by candle light and soft gentle music.

After an enjoyable meal together they went back to their cabin. There Luna suddenly grabbed Amora and bent her back and kissed her. Amora could feel Luna pushing her tongue in her mouth. Her body went limp as she surrendered to her younger lover. Both women took off their clothing, and then Luna hugged and kissed Amora again.
