Chapter 3

The next day, I sent out a family link that we wanted to have some alone time just Anthony and I---and of course Austin as well. We received no visitors or calls for the day. We just had our family day. It was wonderful.

Monday morning came around too quickly for us. We were ready, but we weren’t ready for it, if you know what I mean. Anthony went to training this morning like he was supposed to with Dad. Being a pregnant she-wolf, I couldn’t train, so I stayed at home, so he was bombarded with questions at training this morning about me. He wasn’t prepared for that. He said he took it in stride.

When I showed up at the pack house to start my day, there were a lot of pack members there to greet me. They were anxious to see me since many have not seen me in a long time. I was so happy to see my pack members. I missed them just as much as they missed me.

Alpha Richard asked Anthony and me to join the other ranked wolves for a meeting at 9 this morning in his office. When we arrived, Anthony knocked on the door and waited for the ‘come in’ before he opened the door for us to enter.

“Good morning, Deltas Melanie and Anthony. It is so good to have you officially back with us this morning. How are you feeling this morning, Melanie?” inquired Alpha Richard.

“I’m doing well today. Thank you. It’s good to be back among the pack,” I replied with a huge smile on my face.

“Well, we are glad to have you back with us. Now, on to business. Anthony, we wanted you to prepare a proposal for a She-wolf Training Academy. Have you started hammering out the details yet?” asked Alpha Richard.

“Yes, Alpha, I have, but I have a few questions for you. Where would the classes take place? Where would the she-wolves reside when they are here? And most importantly, who would you like to train them—just females or males and females?” inquired Anthony.

“Those are some very good questions Delta Anthony,” stated Gamma Jacob. “It just proves you’ve put some effort into this proposal.”

“Thank you, Gamma Jacob. I have been bouncing ideas off of Melanie, and she said I needed to ask you all those questions in order to solidify my proposal,” replied Anthony.

“She’s right. What type of classes are you going to have besides the standard beginning, intermediate, and advanced?” asked Beta Micah.

“Well, within each category, we will have different kinds of classes—both in human and wolf form, of course,” replied Anthony.

“Of course,” repeated Gamma Jacob teasingly.

“I figured with technology being so advanced, we could have some virtual reality training for those who are a little squeamish. This will help them get over their fear of either hitting people or getting hit,” explained Anthony.

“Good point. So, it sounds like you are definitely on the right track. But getting back to your questions, we will create a building for the She-wolf Training Academy. The building will include barracks to house the participants. Also, I want both males and females from our pack to train them. We do not discriminate here, never have, and we never will. Our females learned how to fight from our males, and so shall these females,” declared Alpha Richard.

“Yes, Alpha. I will fine-tune the proposal today and have it finished by tomorrow. Who is going to build the facility for the She-wolf Training Academy? And where are we going to put it?” questioned Anthony.

“That’s a very good question, Anthony. I thought we would have Mr. Grey redesign that building next to the training center into the She-wolf Training Academy. What do you all think?” asked Alpha Richard.

“I like that idea. He could add on to the building as it is now. It wouldn’t take much, and it would be perfect,” I agreed with Alpha Richard.

“So, are we in agreement that we will use the old command center for the She-wolf Training Academy and have Mr. Grey reconstruct the building to suit our needs?” inquired Alpha Richard.

Alpha Richard looked at all those in the room, and we were shaking our heads yes.’ He took that as a sign that we all agreed.

“Beta Micah, if you would get a hold of Mr. Grey and see if he could do a design of a training facility with dorms---say about sixty rooms with bathrooms, locker rooms, a recreation room, laundry facility, and the normal stuff,” commanded Alpha Richard.

“As you wish, Alpha Richard. I’ll give him a call as soon as this meeting has ended. Anything else?” asked Beta Micah.

“As you all know, Delta Melanie is pregnant with twins, again. She has been told by Dr. Adams that she needs to take naps in the morning and afternoon. He is not taking any chances with this pregnancy. We all need to make sure she eats snacks in between meals. She will remain on pack lands for the duration of this pregnancy. It is up to all of us to ensure she has a healthy set of twins,” declared Alpha Richard.

A resounding “Yes, Alpha!” was heard from everyone in the office. I just chuckled because I was going to do my best to ensure a healthy pregnancy. And so far I was doing a good job.

“Melanie, on the way back to your office, Anthony will grab you a snack. You will eat it before you take a nap. Then, he will come and get you for lunch. I have the same room set up for you as before to take your naps in. Do you have any questions?” asked Alpha Richard.

“No, Alpha, I do not. Thank you for arranging the room for me,” I declared as I just chuckled and shook my head.

I couldn’t believe I was still receiving special treatment. But what did I expect? I was pregnant again, and they didn’t want anything to happen to any of my babies.

As Alpha Richard dismissed us to resume our duties, my stomach growled loudly.

Beta Micah stated loudly, “Delta Anthony, you need to hurry and get her fed. She might attack us at any second.”

“Ha, ha. Very funny, Beta Micah. For your information, I haven’t attacked anyone recently, nor do I plan on it. I’ll wait until I can shift again,” I teased as I started to walk out the door to head to my office.

Laughter could be heard behind me. I’m just glad that I wasn’t getting dizzy with this pregnancy. That’s one less thing that I didn’t have to worry about. Now, I just had to get something to eat and lie down for a short nap before lunch to keep everyone happy.

I was happily eating my snack when an alert went out that we had trouble at one of our borders.

‘All available wolves. We have a security breach at our southern border. We need all available wolves closest to that border to secure that border. Everyone take immediate cover in your safe rooms. Lock everything down now!’ commanded Alpha Richard.

I immediately made my way to the safe room in the pack house. I told Anthony to be safe in our link and to come back to me in one piece. He promised me he would be as careful as he could.

We were in the safe room for over an hour. During that time, I didn’t get any rest because I felt the tension and anxiety of Anthony through the mate bond. I know he forgot to close it off, which I’m glad he didn’t because I would have been very upset if he did.

It seems we now have a new enemy probing our borders to see just how strong we are. Alpha Richard and our warriors managed to capture eight rogue wolves from the attack. They didn’t give us any information other than that they were to report back our response times and locations of security measures. Someone is setting us up for something. But what?

I wonder who this new enemy is now?
