Dangerous distraction

CLYDE'S POV

Throughout the meeting, Diego kept stealing glances my way. The idiot even had the audacity to send me a message.

My best friend could be infuriating. If he weren’t my right-hand man, I swear I would’ve cut him loose years ago.

Finally, the gathering ended. This was one of the main reasons I’d returned.

“Thank you, Butch. It’s an honor to be in the same room as a king like yourself. My team and I promise to deliver,” Scar said, nodding in my direction.

“No, Scar, I should be the one thanking you. I’ll see you around.”

I watched as Scar and his men cleared the room, leaving me alone with my crew.

Lighting a cigarette, I took a long puff before signaling everyone to leave—except Diego.

“Well, at least this one’s over,” I muttered, blowing out a cloud of smoke.

“Now that it is, can we finally talk about the woman in your bathroom?” Diego leaned casually against the wall, a smug grin plastered on his face.

I groaned internally. Diego could be a real pain in the ass. The last thing I wanted was to revisit the “bathroom incident.”

“Come on, Clyde, spill it,” he pressed.

Diego thrived on gossip. He was the polar opposite of me—cheerful, nosy, and always optimistic, while I kept things cold and unreadable.

“Let’s skip this topic,” I tried to deflect.

“How am I supposed to skip the fact that I found you with a woman in your bathroom? And in what seemed like a very... intimate moment.”

“We weren’t being intimate!” I snapped, glaring at him.

“Then explain how you both ended up like that. I’m all ears.”

Diego wasn’t going to let this go, and I knew it. Reluctantly, I recounted the story of how Allison ended up in my bathroom.

“Damn! What a brave little lamb,” Diego said, shaking his head in amusement. “Well, at least she still has her job. That says a lot. This one must be special.”

“Nobody’s special, Diego,” I muttered, not wanting to dwell on it.

“Right, sure. But you covered her up, shielded her from my prying eyes. That’s something, Clyde.”

“Shut up. Let’s move on to the next order of business,” I growled, cutting him off before he could dig deeper.

By the end of the day, we returned to the hotel. It was past noon, but rest evaded me. Every time I closed my eyes her face invaded my thoughts—her warmth, her softness, the way her skin felt against mine.

My heart raced for a woman who was nothing more than a cleaner. A woman too pure for my dangerous life.

Frustrated, I got out of bed, grabbed a cigar, and headed to the bathroom. The memory of her in the tub replayed in my mind, tormenting me.

Fuck! I groaned. My pants grew tight as I struggled with the growing desire.

I turned on the cold shower, hoping the water would calm my body. As it cascaded over me, I couldn’t resist. My hand wrapped around my cock, and I started stroking slowly.

In my mind, I saw her—on her knees, taking me into her mouth, her innocent eyes looking up at me.

“Allison...” I muttered, stroking faster. The pleasure built quickly, and with one final motion, I came with a loud groan, my release splattering against the tiles.

I leaned against the wall, panting. What the hell was she doing to me?

Earlier, I had Diego dig up everything on Allison Gray. Within hours, he delivered a detailed file—her family background, her favorite color, even her childhood photos.

I smirked as I flipped through it. She came from a poor family and was the sole breadwinner after her father’s death. She worked tirelessly to care for her sick mother.

My phone rang, snapping me from my thoughts.

“What?” I barked.

“She’s heading home. Should I follow her?” Diego asked.

“No. Let her go.”

That night, we parked near her apartment, watching from a distance.

“Why don’t we just knock?” Diego suggested for the fifth time.

“That’s not happening,” I snapped, grabbing the cigarette from his hand before he could take a puff.

Minutes later, she emerged, her figure adorned by the streetlights. My precious little lamb.

“That’s her?” Diego asked, raising a brow.

“Just follow her discreetly,” I ordered, keeping my eyes on her.

Diego tailed her to a nearby park. “What now?” he asked, parking a short distance away.

“Stay here,” I said, stepping out of the car.

I approached quietly, watching her from the shadows. She looked lost in thought, her innocence glowing under the moonlight.

When she noticed me, her eyes widened in shock. “You... you’re here?”

“I was in the area. Thought I’d find a good place to eat.”

“What about you? Why are you out here?” I asked as I candidly ate her up with my eyes.

“I just needed some air,” she said, fidgeting nervously.

“Do you live nearby?”

“Yes, a few blocks away.”

“Good. You must know a good spot to eat then.”

She blinked. “You... want me to show you where to eat?”

I nodded. “Yes.”

We ended up at a small diner. The owner greeted her warmly, asking about her mother. She seemed at ease here, like it was a second home.

“You should try the special rice and soup,” she suggested, her eyes lighting up.

“Whatever she says,” I told the old man who eyed me Intently.

Finally, the food arrived but she insisted on not joining me, however, I would not have her watch me eat alone so I talked her into joining me.

As we ate, I noticed how comfortable she looked. She smiled more, her nerves fading.

But then the door swung open, and a young man rushed in.

“Alli! I missed you!” he exclaimed, as he rushed towards us and yanked her into his arms now hugging her tightly.

What the fuck?

She laughed and hugged him back. “Willy! You’re back!”

The boy’s eyes met mine, and I saw the instant shift in his demeanor. He didn’t like me, and the feeling was indeed mutual.

”Go on, Will, let them enjoy their dinner you can speak with Alli later.” the old man declared now tugging the boy away.

After dinner, I walked her home. We arrived in front of her house already.

“Thanks for tonight,” she said, biting her lip.

“So, is he your boyfriend?” I asked, referring to the boy from the diner.

“Will? No, he’s like family.” she retorts immediately sounding shocked at my inquiry.

“So, no boyfriend?”

She shook her head. “No, I’ve never had one.”

“Well, that’s good.” I grinned. “Now go inside. It’s late.”

”How do I contact you?” she asked her innocent eyes staring at me.

”You don't have to worry, I'll contact you.” I assure her.

“Goodnight, Clyde,” she whispered before disappearing into her building.

As I walked away, I thought: I’ve found myself a distraction. A very dangerous distraction.
