Chapter 2

I had to stop this somehow, but what to do? She was already leaving the scene of the accident in anger. I resolved within myself that if kneeling to plead with her would be the best option, I didn’t mind it. My father would call me weak and vulnerable, but I couldn’t care any lesser because that was the only way to appease her at the moment. I ran after her and held onto her hand lightly.

“Ma’am, I wouldn’t want you to leave this place upset, it wouldn’t sit right with me and my heart would be in turmoil.” I said and she turned to look at my face and I shifted back a little. I held her hand and put the money in her hand. The woman realized that I wasn’t one of those rich brats who tried to use the money to solve everything and erase their wrongdoings, so her angry face relaxed a little bit and that gave me a little bit of relief because what else would I have done if she even refused to listen to me?

“Please understand that I’m not giving you this as a way to wipe the damage I might have caused if I hadn’t swerved away, but as a token of my remorsefulness. Do accept it, I plead you.” I said and the woman raised her hand to collect the money and I noticed her hand tremble with fear. Then I saw her child look at her mother.

“Mama, collect the money, she seems remorseful and nice. She probably didn’t plan to hit us.” The child said and her mother looked at my face. “I’ll accept because you seem remorseful for your actions, and you didn’t do it intentionally.” She said and I nodded gratefully towards her daughter.

“Plus, ma’am. Whatever it is that made you so distressed enough to cry and lose concentration off the road, I hope that you figure it out, because you deserve happiness.” Her daughter said to me and that made me tear up again. I nodded and then they walked away, while I walked back to my car. The swerve didn’t do so much damage, so I figured I could drive the car back at least take it to the mechanic, and then head home. The pain and bitterness I had felt towards my ever-controlling father had reduced drastically, and I vowed never to let my father get to me again. I almost killed two people. I looked at the road and realized that the few people who had gathered at the accident scene had walked away and I sighed. I entered the car and drove in reverse, and tried to find my way out of that area.

After driving for about two minutes, I realized that I had kind of returned to where the accident had happened. I realized in dismay what was happening and I clasped my hand over my head in confusion. I killed the engine and came out of the car, to investigate the area. I wasn’t with my phone, and without it, I couldn’t figure out my location. Shit, I’m screwed big time. If I can’t find my way home, I’ll be doomed. I don’t even know this area that well. Father is gonna kill me. I thought. I swore never to let anger control me ever again because see what anger had led me into. I then remembered that I had a spare phone I usually used for emergencies too in my car, and sighed in relief and started to walk towards my car when I heard a deep male voice.

“If I were you, I wouldn’t move, Young lady.” A male said and I brought my footsteps to a slow halt. I didn’t understand what was going on and I wanted to get a look at the person who was ordering me.

“Don’t even turn, ma’am.” he said again, and with that, all my resolve melted like ice. What are the fables of bad luck? It's getting dark already, and Dad’s gonna throw a fit if he doesn’t see me at home soon. I thought and stood still, holding my breath in fear not knowing who this mystery man was or what he was gonna do. “You do have a very beautiful automobile, little miss.”Hendricks said, admiration in his voice over Jane’s red automobile. Am I being mugged right now? I thought in horror.

“What……What….what….do…you..want….from…me?” I asked gulping down loudly. If I was being mugged, this was bad, cause I couldn’t even call for help and it was getting darker and darker.I shuddered at the wild thought of me being murdered and thrown into the bush.

“You don’t ask me what I want from you around here, ma’am.This is my turf and you brought your wily wealthy ass in here yourself. What were you thinking when you drove into an alley, all alone?”He asked sarcastically. My heart trembled at the thought that I was dealing with one of these hard street muggers and I froze without moving at all, my knees becoming weak as hell. I felt his presence come up to me, and then I felt a tight grip on my arm.

“Please let me go, you’re hurting my arm.” I said in a low frightened voice. “You don’t tell me what to do, lady. This is my turf, remember?” He said and I gulped hard again.

“What is it that you want? Take anything you want, but please let me go.”I said, trying to cut a bargain. He walked to my front and my eyes met a pair of very beautiful almond eyes. I tried to move and with that my hand hit the light piece of cloth covering his face. The clothes fell away and all I saw was this guy with very beautiful manly looks. With dark brown hair, and cute perk lips, Hendricks was too handsome to be a robber, and despite my fear of the whole situation, I found myself daydreaming about this handsome robber hunk standing in front of me. “Everything I want?” He asked and looked at my face, probably looking for a positive answer in my face. I nodded and he smiled contently.

“But you know you don’t have to do this. You’re a cute person and you could work as a model, instead of being a roadside mugger.” I said developing cold feet about him taking all my possessions. If I allowed him to take everything from me, how would I get home?

He looked at me and his almond eyes had turned deep, menacing, and cold, so they sent shivers down my spine. “Open your car, and shut the fuck up. Who are you to tell me what to do, or how to live my life?”

God, I might have just gotten myself into more trouble with this hot mean looking guy.
