Chapter 6
The room was filled with an oppressive silence as everyone turned their attention to the new arrivals. Roneesha stood tall, her presence commanding even amidst the chaos. She had an air of authority that instantly caught Royce's attention.
Royce looked at the woman who had been brought to him. It was then he sensed her kin and knew that she was truly the bride to whom he was supposed to be married. His anger grew to the point that he felt like destroying everything. He was now married to a handler. creatures he hated most in his entire life.
"Where the hell have you been?" Caden growled, his voice laced with fury.
He was so angry because he knew that he was the one who had mistaken another for the king's bride. He knew that he was going to be punished and that they would all pay the price for getting their king married to the wrong woman, and a handler at that.
Everyone was already trembling just at the thought of it.
"We are really sorry your Highness. "The princess was ill, and we went to look for a healer," he said as he bowed to his knees.
Royce felt like ordering them to be executed but he didn't. Roneesha, thinking she could easily attract Royce as she usually did with men, moved forward to meet Royce, but the look on his face stopped her in fear..
"Your Highness, we meant no disrespect," the trembling male interjected, his eyes darting nervously between Royce and Roneesha. They were so scared knowing that Royce showed no mercy. Yet, none of them could tell the alpha king that his intended bride didn’t want to marry him because they were scared that he would kill them.
"She is here to fulfill her destiny—one that could unite both our kinds. We are so sorry we came late.”
“Unite?” Royce scoffed, the weight of his anger still palpable in the air.
He had never in his entire life been this vexed; their lateness had cost him his destiny. He didn’t know if the woman he married was a spy and also there to destroy him like they destroyed his parents. “
Roneesha stepped forward, her gaze unwavering. “Your Highness, please, we don’t mean to be late. I was very sick and they had to look for a doctor to treat me. I beg your pardon,” she bowed slightly.
Roneesha, who had hated the idea of marrying the ruthless hybrid king, regretted her actions immediately after she stepped into the kingdom. In her life she had never seen such a beautiful sight. As if that wasn’t enough, the alpha king was so handsome that he took her breath away.
Until now, Roneesha had been against marrying the old hybrid king and had caused trouble with her family for choosing her to marry the hybrid king, but she didn't expect him to be so handsome and young.. What she had heard about the hybrid king was different from what she saw, and she fell in love with him immediately. Then she was ready to marry the king and ready to make him fall in love with her. What she didn’t know was that it was too late.
Roneesha wasn’t moved by the cold atmosphere or what she did, but she didn’t want her people to be punished.
Royce looked at her in anger. The woman before her was indeed beautiful but to him the woman he married was more beautiful. He was irritated by the sight of Roneesha, and he knew that she was lying. Not only did he know , but he could see vividly that she wanted him, and this made him frown.
Royce looked at Giselle, who was looking down at her feet. Giselle knew it was the end for her since the real bride had already shown up. She could feel a gaze on her, and she looked up only to meet Royce's burning look. She trembled at his look and moved closer to the guard who held her.
Roneesha looked in the direction Royce's eyes were fixated on and saw that he was looking at a woman. What confused her was that the woman was dressed in wedding attire, the same as Royce. Roneesha shook her head to shake away the annoying and unbelievable thought that came to her mind.
“You can leave!” Royce's harsh voice came.
None knew who she was talking to and they didn’t dare to move. Roneesha thought that he was talking to the woman held by the guard and she felt warmth in her heart.
“I'm talking to your people and you, princess,” Royce pointed at Roneesha.
Roneesha and the people who came with her were the only ones shocked. The rest knew the reason he said that.
Royce might hate his bride, but a werewolf can only have one mate marked once in his lifetime, except for the death of his mate. He would have angrily killed the woman whom he mistakenly married, but then it would ruin him. As angry as Royce was, he wasn’t going to risk his life for it.
Roneesha shocked, couldn’t say a word. She looked at Royce and then at Giselle, who was still held by the guards.
“Your Highness, I already apologized for being late. You can’t just send me out like that. You had an agreement with my kingdom,” Roneesha insisted, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside her. She could feel the weight of all eyes upon her as she stood in front of the intimidating alpha king, desperate to navigate this precarious situation.
Roneesha born as a princess hasn’t been in a situation out of her control before and this was getting her angry.
Royce’s expression remained hard, but something flickered in his eyes. “I don’t care about your agreement. Go home pup,” he replied coldly, his gaze unwavering. The tension hung thick in the air, suffocating any hope she had.
Since she laid her eyes on Royce minutes ago, she had proposed in her heart that he is hers but when she heard what he said, her life seamed shattered. Although she didn’t know what transcended between Giselle and Royce, she knew that Giselle was the reason he was sending her home.
Giselle, realizing her chance to escape the wrath of her king’s fury, spoke up, her voice trembling yet defiant. Your Highness, I shouldn’t be here. I don’t mind leaving,” she interrupted, stepping forward as though she could divert Royce's monstrous wrath from herself. But the only response was the tightening of Royce’s jaw, the fury boiling just beneath the surface.
It was as if he should snap her neck. Royce felt she was intentionally annoying him.
“How dare you speak when I didn’t ask you to,” his voice trembled throughout the whole room that everyone bowed.
Giselle quickly moved back looking at royce furious look. Although she was used to people hating her because of her stepmother but the look of hatred in Royce’s eyes almost crippled her. She staggered and almost fell but the guards quickly caught her.
Roneesha was so mad at Giselle because she made her man angry. She was going to deal with her later but she needed to make sure Royce doesn’t send her away.
“Your Highness, please let……….” Royce raised his hand to hush her.
"It's too late, pup," he said and wanted to stand up, but Caden stopped him.
“Your Highness, please wait,” Caden said, his tone more measured, knowing that what he wanted to say could get him into trouble. “We should hear her out. The alliance between our kingdoms is at stake.” He stepped closer to Roneesha, trying to gauge her reaction.
Caden narrated all that had happened, and Roneesha was very angry. She felt like killing Giselle immediately but she didn’t want to look like a wicked one to Royce.
“Your Highness, this woman might be dangerous,” she said in a calm voice.
Royce didn’t say anything, his eyes were just on Giselle, who was just standing there as they condemned her.
“What is it you propose, Princess Roneesha?” Caden asked.
