AVENA

Sera dragged me into the class, gaining stares from everyone in there, and we took the empty seats at one corner.

"I can't stand that Silvermoon Alpha Prince and his friends." She said as we settled down.

"Isaac Langston?"

"Oh, you know him?" She asked and I nodded in response. Then she continued. "Linda is dating Isaac and since Isaac practically ignores every female except her, everyone believes they're mates.

Cedarwood scent filled my nostrils as Isaac walked into the class with his friends. We locked eyes, and my heart skipped a beat while Sage began gushing with thrill and pleasure.

Linda who sat just a few seats away clapped her hands in excitement and ran to Isaac, she kissed him on his lips and he held my eyes as he returned it.

A sharp feeling of pain poked at my chest, clenching my breath and forcing me to tear my eyes away from them. I could feel Sage's agitation appearing and jealousy surging through her. Did he feel the same thing I was feeling? And was that why he was doing this?

"Ignore them as they're coming to sit behind us." Sera said to me and I turned just in time to see Isaac settling down on the seat directly behind me. His friends taking the seats beside him.

Just then Marco and a few other students came in. Marco saw me and grinned widely, waving a hand at me, which I returned to him. As soon as his eyes settled on Isaac, a frown came on his face and he went straight to them.

"Langston," He called out, kicking the seat Isaac was on while Isaac sat, arms crossed with his eyes closed, ignoring him. "Get your rude ass off our seats."

The girl seated in front of me groaned, "These two are at it again. I don't get why they can't exist in the same room together."

"Marco and Isaac are enemies?" I asked Sera as Marco kicked the seat again.

"Sera nodded, breaking into her lollipop and crunching away. "Seems you know a bunch of people around here. Well yeah, since middle school. They've been at each other's throats. Nobody knows why."

Knowing this made me realize I had a lot I didn't know about here and I wondered what life here was going to be like with these new experiences.

"Ayo Forrest, you're making one hell of a show here." One of Isaac's friends, who had blonde hair and green eyes, just like Hannah and Harper, spoke up.

"Why don't I slice that tongue of yours to clarify that you shouldn't talk to me." Marco shot back at him.

"You're being loud, Marco," Isaac told Marco in a bored tone, opening his eyes at him. Marco reached for Isaac's collar in anger but before he could touch it, Isaac swiftly grabbed his hand and banged it to the table, pinning it there and rising from the seat.

Isaac's friend rose as well and stood behind him. Marco and the students he had come in with stood against Isaac and I was guessing they were from Marco's pack. Marco's eyes were glowing right now and I could see his claws were already unsheathed.

"Silvermoon Pack and Mystic Pack members. Would you want to explain to the class why you're breaking the first school pack rule?" A female voice called out.

We all turned towards the voice, and a middle-aged woman with neatly styled hair and an outfit stood at the front of the class, a stern look on her face.

Now Isaac let go of Marco's hand, and everyone settled down quietly in their seats without responding to her.

"That's what I thought," She continued. "This is the last warning the both of you are going to get most especially Isaac Langston and Marco Forrest. One more strike from you two will earn you disciplinary action. Am I understood?"

"Yes, Ma'am." They chorused in low voices.

I took in a deep breath, hotter than ever as I'd been trying to withhold Sage, who had been on an emotional rollercoaster. With Isaac being a few feet away, it was getting almost hard.

"We have a new student here, why don't you come introduce yourself to everyone." The woman announced.

I dreaded this part of school no matter what.

I slowly walked to the front of the dead silent class avoiding as many eye contacts as I could. "I'm Avena Slade and I'm from the Lunaria pack."

Nobody seemed surprised, so I assumed they all knew. Linda made a low snort while Sera grinned at me wildly, giving me a thumbs up.

"Thank you," The woman said before dismissing me back to my seat.

I kept on avoiding Isaac's strong gaze, but even as I did so, I could still feel his eyes almost penetrating my back, and I almost wanted to disappear into my desk. Why did he have to sit behind me? Not only was he making Sage want to take over and nuzzle his wolf, but he was making me uncomfortable with his gaze.

The woman wrote 'LUNAR MASTERY' boldly on the board and began teaching.

I learnt the woman was one of the scholars here and she was from the Ironclaw pack. We had two more classes after that and right now, we were having Pack History and Politics. His voice was slow and tiny and soon enough, I started to get bored.

Some minutes went by when suddenly I felt someone kick my seat from behind. I knew immediately it was Isaac so I ignored him and continued to pretend to listen. He did it a second time and I snapped my head at him, "What?"

"What do you mean what?" He asked back with the straightest look and calmest voice feigning innocence.

"Stop kicking my seat. That's what." I replied eyeing him.

"When did I ever, Slade?" He asked, tilting his head to the side.

I took a deep breath calming my irritation while ignoring Sage's excited purr. She loved this attention, she loved every moment of it. He was trying to get me angry. I knew it. How did I even ever overlook this annoying side of him and have a crush on him then?

"It's Avena. And I swear to the moon-"

"New girl, what seems to be the problem?" I heard the scholar ask realizing everyone was now looking at me.

"Nothing sir," I replied, feeling the heat go to my cheeks. I heard Isaac's low chuckle and I bit at my inner cheek as the Scholar went back to teaching.

"Welcome, Slade. This is going to be fun." He whispered to my hearing.
