Chapter 7 Expose The Truth

Ethan stayed at the hospital overnight. It wasn't until the next afternoon that the doors of the operating room were finally pushed open.

Outside, there were many members of the Scott family, anxiously waiting for the doctor to come out. They all rushed forward, their faces filled with worry, asking about the situation. They looked genuinely concerned.

Ethan lagged, watching the doctor intently.

The doctor took off his mask and hesitated. "Has the patient been taking any traditional medicine during this time?"

Ethan's second uncle Reuben Scott quickly replied, "No! We knew Grandma Scott wasn't doing well, so how could we randomly give her any medicine? But she's been staying at Ethan's place during this time. Ethan, did you give Grandma Scott something she shouldn't have?"

Elsa immediately exploded, "What are you implying, Uncle?"

Reuben smirked, "Don't understand what I'm implying? Maybe I should ask what you've done to Grandma Scott?"

Elsa's face turned red with anger. "You...!"

"Enough!" Ethan's temples throbbed as he sternly silenced their argument.

Reuben took a few steps back in fear. The rest of the family looked at him nervously.

Reuben wanted to say something, but then the doctor hurriedly explained, "Don't misunderstand, what I mean is that the patient's condition was already poor, but she managed to hold on because of the medicine she was taking. This time, the emotional disturbance caused her heart to stop. We did our best, but we could only stabilize her for three days at most. If we can't find a suitable heart donor within three days..." He didn't finish his sentence, but it was clear what he meant.

Then there was a chaotic outburst of wailing.

"Mom!"

"Grandma!"

"What are we going to do?!"

"..." Ethan closed his eyes, feeling a sense of understanding that was quickly shattered by the commotion.

Looking at this group of people who appeared sad on the surface but were harboring hidden intentions, Ethan felt annoyed and gritted his teeth, reminding them, "Grandma isn't even dead yet!"

"Ethan, how can you be so heartless? Grandma has been so good to you, and now she is ill, you didn't even shed a tear! And while Grandma is bedridden, rumors are flying around about your affair..." Reuben's wife's sarcastic voice gradually weakened under Ethan's intense gaze.

Ethan tightly pursed his lips, staring fixedly at the hospital room.

Grandma Scott's condition was too unique, and they couldn't find a suitable heart donor. Despite the immense influence of the Scott family, they seemed helpless and lost when faced with the illness.

The situation was stable before they found Angela White, which could have saved her. But for some reason, news of the divorce suddenly reached Grandma's ears, triggering this...

Thinking about this, his icy gaze shifted towards Elsa. "Come with me!"

Elsa shrunk back, seeking help from Mrs. Scott.  

Mrs. Scott pulled Elsa behind her. "Ethan, don't take it out on your sister! She knows that Grandma has been getting close to Claire. How could she voluntarily create trouble for herself? If someone really complained, it must be Claire!"

Ethan froze. He didn't intend to pursue the matter, he just wanted to inquire about Grandma's recent condition. He hadn't forgotten what the doctor said about her using medicine to maintain her health, something he had been completely unaware of. Their words suddenly reminded him of something. Grandma getting close to Claire...

After giving the mother and daughter a deep look, he quickly walked away.

Seeing Ethan leaving, the others felt there was no need to continue pretending, so they silently dispersed.

Elsa patted her chest, breathed a sigh of relief, and then anxiously looked at Mrs. Scott. "Mom, what do we do now? Grandma must have overheard our conversation and that's why she had a relapse!"

"Shut up! As long as we insist it's Claire, then it's Claire!"

"But Grandma knows the truth."

"Her?" Mrs. Scott sneered, "Do you think she can still wake up?!"

As Elsa listened, a glimmer of hope appeared in her eyes, and the panic on her face gradually disappeared.

Just as Ethan stepped out of the hospital, he received a call from Peter.

"Boss, something has happened."

"..."

In the morning, 'Ethan's Married' was trending, and soon after, several provocative topics followed.

"The CEO of the Scott Family Group Cheating on His Spouse"

"Janice Red as the Mistress"

"Mrs. Ethan's Revenge"

Internet users initially thought it was Mrs. Ethan's doing.

But Peter had been with Ethan for so long and probably knew Claire's personality well. He didn't believe she was capable of doing this.

It wasn't until someone posted a blurred-out marriage certificate that the public relations team urgently called Peter, who then called Ethan.

"Did the public relations team die? They only realized it now?" Ethan got into his car, slammed the door shut, and his voice turned icy cold.

Peter's heart skipped a beat as he hurriedly explained, "No, they're just helpless! Your news, no matter how much money or technology we spend, we can't remove it!"

Ethan paused for a moment, then changed his tone sharply, "What about Claire?"

"After you separated yesterday, Miss Claire didn't go directly back to the hotel. Instead, she went to a dessert shop she used to visit," Peter hesitated for a few seconds and continued, "And there's another coincidence..."

"Go on."

"Miss Janice also went to that dessert shop, and they had a face-to-face encounter."

"..." The implication was that it was related to Claire. But Ethan furrowed his brow and questioned, "Who is Miss Janice?"

Peter, "..." He knew that those women who were desperately throwing themselves at Ethan were delusional. But this rising star, who caused their divorce and made them go viral, didn't even deserve to have a name?

After briefly explaining Janice's significant presence, Peter added, "Miss Janice is the leading actress of KF Entertainment Company. Both times you visited KF Entertainment Company, she accompanied you."

The underlying meaning was that this was why she had the illusion and 'publicly' declared a relationship with you.

"I don't remember."

"..." As expected, it was the answer Peter anticipated. However, he still felt sorry for that actress and cautiously asked, "So, what do we do now?"

Ethan remained silent, and a cold glint passed through his eyes.

Just for a moment, he even thought that Claire was helping his grandma's recovery.

But the cold hard truth was right in front of him. Claire was a woman greedy and full of tricks. Yesterday, he was wondering why she didn't scheme against him, leaking the hotel photos of them together, and exposing her identity as his wife.

It turned out she had everything under control, thinking that his grandma would side with her. No wonder she was so smug during the car ride.

Now that his grandma was seriously ill and readmitted to the hospital, she immediately revealed her identity as Mrs. Ethan when she sensed something was wrong.

She thought she could use public opinion to force him to back down?

She even managed to make the whole public relations team of the Scott Family Group frantic. He had underestimated her...

"Expose the truth, and as for Miss Ye, you know how to handle it," Ethan's voice was cold and emotionless.

Peter couldn't believe it. "Expose the truth?"

Ethan grunted and added, "Including the progress of our divorce."

Peter, "..."  This time, Miss Claire really took it too far.

To publicly admit marriage and then immediately announce a divorce, that it was so humiliating.
