Summary
Alpha Michael rejected me publicly for my manipulative sister and they tried to completely ruin my life. But, a blind exchange student called Lennard saved me and gave me a life I'd only dreamed of. Soon I realised that Lennard was neither blind nor shy. He was the rightful alpha who returned to reclaim the throne from his wicked step-brother Michael. My scheming sister thought she had hit the jackpot. She had no idea the house of lies she was building with my ex-mate was about to crumble.
Bad Blood on Founder's Day
Willow.
They planned my humiliation perfectly. Two days before founder’s day, Alpha Michael told me he’d announce our mate bond and relationship to the pack.
The next day, he sent me a beautiful red gown for the D-day. I was so excited, thinking my days of being a servant at the pack house were over.
But now I was standing at the center of the hall, staring in shock at my mate and sister holding hands on the raised platform. Alpha Michael had just humiliated me by calling my sister to stand with him instead of me.
“Didn’t you say you were the alpha’s mate?” My friend Kenaya asked. “Why is he with Liviana?”
“I don’t know,” I answered as tears welled in my eyes. He looked quite satisfied with himself while Liviana was smirking. They’d played me so well I didn’t see it coming.
Before I could stop myself, I stepped toward. “What about me, Michael? I’m your fated mate.”
“Oh I forgot. I, alpha Michael Miller, reject you Willow Jayne, as my mate and future Luna. Accept the rejection now.”
“I-I can’t. I love you. You said.”
“I cannot have a wolfless woman as my Luna,” he said coldly. “I’m sure you can understand that.”
Tears welled in my eyes and I nodded. “I accept.”
The pain came immediately. With my hand on my chest, I leaned over, face twisting from the immense pain.
“Stop the theatrics and get out,” he said coldly. I couldn’t believe I had fallen in love with such a brute.
Standing up straight, I started to feel dizzy. When I came to my senses a few seconds later, I realized I’d fallen in someone’s arms. It was Lennard, the blind college exchange student.
“So sorry,” I told him while standing straight.
By now people had moved on and the alpha was talking about how perfect his future Luna was. They were all listening with expressions of admiration on their faces as he praised her beauty.
“Are you alright?” Lennard asked, balancing his cane on one hand. He always wore dark spectacles which made it hard to see his eyes.
“I’m fine,” I said, turning away. “Thank you.”
The Alpha and Liviana had already taken their seats at the front.
“Thanks again.” I told Lennard before turning to walk away.
“Wait.” He said but I knew I couldn’t stay because I was falling apart. I’d been humiliated enough already.
I was about to reach the door when I heard a loud splash and a collective gasp from the room. Stopping, I turned. Liviana screamed out loud. Blood had poured from the ceiling onto her. She shot up from the chair.
“There’s blood on the roof!” Someone shouted.
“Get it off me!” Liviana screamed trying to remove the blood that had splattered on her hair. Several guards rushed toward the platform but seemed unsure of how to help.
Everyone was staring at her. Some were holding their mouths in shock while others just stared openly. Many were murmuring with each other while some were giving me accusing looks.
Liviana grabbed a table cloth and wiped blood from her hair. Her elegant dress was now stained with red.
“You,” she yelled, glaring at me.
“What?”
“You did this! It’s you”
The hall went silent and I stared at her in disbelief. “I don’t know anything about this.”
“You were angry because Michael chose me!” she pointed at me. “You couldn’t stand seeing me become Luna! That’s why you did this.”
“She threatened me before the ceremony,” she accused. My lips parted in shock. I didn’t even know alpha was going to introduce her instead of me.
“I never threatened you!” I yelled out. When I looked around, everyone was looked at me like they had already decided I was guilty.
“Guards,” Alpha ordered. “Get her!”
Four guards immediately materialized around me, two held my arms and started taking me away.
“No, it wasn’t me.” I yelled and thrashed at the guards but they wouldn’t let go. It was clear now that this was a plan to humiliate me. I couldn’t believe my sister was willing to go this far.
She must have had fake blood sprayed on her so it would like I did it. Or could she have done it because she thought I’d be the one taking the seat?
Suddenly a deep voice spoke above the murmurs in the hall. “She didn’t do it.”
The guards stopped dragging me out. Everyone turned to look at Lennard. Even the guards. Lennard prodded the space in front of him with his cane before stepping forward.
The Alpha frowned. “Are you sure about what you’re saying?”
“Why are you lying for her?” My sister asked. “She clearly did it. Who else could have done it? Although we grew up from the same home, she hates me.”
Tears spilled from my eyes as I watched her lie so easily. Liviana was younger than me and I’d always taken care of her growing up.
We grew up in the same foster home but I always saw her as my sister. We loved each other but everything changed when we turned 18. Liviana got her wolf and I was declared wolfless. My Forster family threw me out because the government checks weren’t coming in.
Unable to find a better job, I begged to work as a maid in the pack house. A few weeks later, I found out I was the alpha’s mate. He promised to love me even if I was wolfless, we just had to keep our relationship secret until founder’s day.
“I know she didn’t do it.” Lennard insisted.
“How would you know?” Liviana asked.
He turned his head toward her.
“I may be blind but I can still hear.” He said. “I heard someone moving above this hall before the blood spilled.”
The Alpha stepped down from the platform. “Do you know who it is?”
Lennard took his time.
“Speak now!” the Alpha demanded impatiently.
Lennard smiled and tilted his head. “Yes, I know who did it.”
He said and turned to look at the pack members. “It’s—”
