Chapter Five

I woke up to an empty room. The silence was deafening, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. I didn't like being alone, not like this. Last night's events came flooding back, and I remembered Tristan's warm body beside mine.

Just as I was starting to feel uneasy, I heard the sound of the shower turning on. My heart skipped a beat as I realized Tristan was still here. I let out a sigh of relief, feeling a mix of emotions: gratitude, anxiety, and a hint of excitement.

The shower turned off, and Tristan emerged, his hair damp and his eyes gleaming. "Good morning," he said, his deep voice sending shivers down my spine.

"Good morning," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.

Tristan smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Sleep well?" he asked, his tone low and husky.

I nodded, feeling a flush rise to my cheeks. "Yes, thank you."

Tristan's gaze lingered on mine, and I felt like he could see right through me. But then he nodded and turned away, grabbing a towel to dry his hair.

"Let's go downstairs," he said, his voice firm but gentle. "Ellara's cooking up breakfast."

I followed him downstairs, my heart pounding in my chest. What would the day bring?

As we entered the kitchen, Ellara greeted us with a warm smile. "Good morning, you two! Breakfast is ready."

The delicious smells wafting from the stove made my stomach growl with hunger. I took a seat beside Tristan, feeling a sense of trepidation. What would happen today?

We ate in silence, the only sound the clinking of utensils on plates. But as we finished up, Ellara turned to Tristan, her expression serious.

"Tristan, don't you think it's time you told her the truth?" she asked, her voice low and urgent.

Tristan's eyes locked onto mine, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. What truth?

Tristan stood up, his eyes locked onto mine. He moved closer, his warm hand enveloping mine. "Jessica, I know I haven't been the most... welcoming host since you arrived," he said, his voice low and husky. "But I'm trying. I really am. You're my mate, and my wolf can't accept that you don't acknowledge us as one."

I felt a flutter in my chest, unsure of what to say. "Wolf?" I repeated, my voice barely above a whisper.

Tristan's eyes burned with intensity as he gazed at me. "Let me show you," he said, his voice dripping with promise.

He led me to the woods, the trees towering above us. We walked in silence, the only sound the rustling of leaves beneath our feet.

As we stopped in a clearing, Tristan turned to me, his eyes serious. "I need you to promise me something," he said, his voice low. "When I... transform, I need you to promise me you won't scream or run away."

I felt a surge of skepticism, but as I looked into Tristan's eyes, I found myself trusting him. "I promise," I said, my voice firm.

Tristan nodded, his eyes gleaming with gratitude. "Remember, wolves are playful and possessive. If you run, my wolf instinct will be to chase you."

I swallowed hard, feeling a shiver run down my spine.

Tristan took a step back, his eyes never leaving mine. And then, in a flash of movement, he transformed into a magnificent black wolf.

At first, I was scared. My heart pounded in my chest, and I took a step back. But as I looked into the wolf's eyes, I felt a strange sense of calm wash over me.

The wolf was beautiful, its fur sleek and shiny. And as I gazed into its eyes, I felt a spark of attraction.

I wasn't scared of the wolf at all. Instead, I felt drawn to it, like it was a part of me.

I took a step closer to the wolf, my heart pounding in my chest. But it wasn't fear that drove me - it was curiosity, and a deep sense of connection.

I reached out a hand, hesitantly, and the wolf nuzzled it gently. Its snout was soft and warm, and I felt a jolt of electricity as our skin touched.

The wolf snuggled closer, its fur brushing against my leg. I giggled as it began to play with my hand, nipping gently at my fingers.

Tristan's wolf form was nothing like I'd expected. It was playful, affectionate, and utterly captivating. I found myself laughing, feeling a sense of joy I hadn't experienced in years.

As we played, the wolf's eyes never left mine. I felt like it could see right through me, to the very soul of me. And yet, I didn't feel exposed or vulnerable. I felt... seen.

The wolf's antics grew more energetic, and I stumbled backward, laughing. Tristan's wolf form chased after me, nipping at my heels.

I felt alive, free, and utterly enthralled by the wolf's playful nature

Tristan's eyes gleamed with excitement as he took my hand, leading me to a nearby clearing. We sat down on a rocky outcropping, and he turned to face me, his expression serious.

"Jessica, you're not like other humans," he began, his voice low and husky. "You're a descendant of a powerful wolf bloodline, one that's been dormant for centuries."

I felt a shiver run down my spine as Tristan's words sparked a deep memory within me. "What do you mean?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

Tristan's eyes locked onto mine. "You're a wolf's mate, Jessica. A soulmate. It's a bond that's unbreakable, a connection that goes deeper than anything else."

I felt like I'd been punched in the gut. A wolf's mate? Soulmates? It sounded like something out of a fairy tale.

But Tristan's expression was dead serious. It was kind of comical in his wolf form. "It's real, Jessica. And it's not just about us. It's about our pack, our family. We're not just wolves; we're a community, a bond of loyalty and love."

As Tristan spoke, I felt a deep sense of longing, of belonging. It was like I'd finally found a missing piece of myself.

"What does it mean, being a descendant of a powerful wolf bloodline?" I asked, my curiosity piqued.

Tristan's eyes gleamed with excitement. "It means you have the power of the ancient wolves within you. You have the power to heal, to align with the moon, and to lead."

I felt like I'd been transported to a different world.
