Chapter 7

Sophie sit down again and continued eating, Lily joined her. They were enjoying talking when Sophie’s mom and Lily’s mother happily announced that the guy- aunt Meredith’s best friends son has finally arrived. Lily sneak out of the place and run away leaving Sophie who continued eating without caring of whoever that guy is.

She doesn’t have any interest in men anymore after Michael. That man is supposed to be her future husband. She sighed. That man gives her a trauma of not falling in love again. Suddenly her mom emerged and grabbed her by her wrist.

“ come on. Come here . he is more handsome than Michael.” Her mom said and Sophie glared at her mom. She could never tell which side is her mother.

“ Mom. I’m not interested. Let Lily greet him alone “ Sophie begged

“ But –

“ Mom, all of the boys that you had match make to me didn’t work. So please. I’m begging you. I don’t want another break up” Sophie said and excused herself. And her mother felt embarrassed with herself but when she heard Meredith calling her, she rushed to her immediately and greeted the young man . the young man greeted her back and they went to Meredith’s house while the two young Lady Lily and Sophie is nowhere to be seen. Sophie is in her room , trying to spend her time lying there and watch some action movies but her mind is uncomfortable. She looked at the ceiling and she remembered how Michael betrayed her. She remembered how he moaned as that girl grinding on top of him. She is such an idiot to waste her precious time with that man who promised her all the sweet things but in reality it was just pure nonsense .

She sighed. When someone knocked her door.

“ Why?” She asked loudly.

“ come down here . why don’t you enjoy yourself and have tea with us. Come on.” Her mom answered , from outside the door. And when she didn’t answer ,her mom went inside.

“ Sophie, I swear this one is different.” Her mom giggled. Sophie could scream any minute. If other mother would never want their daughter to date , then her mother is so willing to give her away to anyone she could find .

“ Seriously mom. Your giving me away. Are you having difficulties of raising me all by yourself?” Sophie asked and acted very hurt. She even tried to make herself so pitiful in front of her mother. But the old woman didn’t buy it.

“ C'mon, there’s no harm in interacting with human beings.” Her mom said sarcastically and she was forced to join with the little tea party.

Sophie and her mother went inside and Sophie could feel that she trembled and shake when she familiarized the man in front of aunt Meredith. She avoid his dark stares that secretly questions her why she was there standing in front of him. He sure know that she’s not Lily because he knew Lily a little.

“ Meet my niece Sophie , and Sophie this is Andrew ,my best friend’s son.” Meredith introduced them to each other with a smile.

Andrew and Sophie are like in a staring contest that whoever blinks lose. And no one wants to do the handshake so they just seat there awkwardly without being noticed by the two elders beside them.
