Kunmi glanced at me and scoffed "I'll bring the invitations tomorrow, you'll help me share them in the block" Kunmi replied as my colour drained from my face.
I was terribly introverted. I couldn't even make a proper conversation with my desk mate, how would I be able to share the invitations to about six classes.
I gritted my teeth and nodded solemnly. If I voiced out now, they were going to heap loads of insults on me.
The bell went off for the first period as I walked to my seat. Gani and Kunmi were deskmates while Temi and Josie were also deskmates. They also sat behind each other.
My desk was few seats away from them making me always miss out in the small talks and gists that happened within them. Most times during class, I always looked at them to pick one or two things so as to be able to say something during lunch.
My desk mate didn't bother to say a word of greeting knowing fully well that I wasn't going to reply or rather I would stutter out one.
The Maths teacher walked inside and slammed his textbook on the front desk.
"Good morning sir" the class echoed.
"Good morning people" Mr Afolabi replied waving our second test scripts in his hands.
"You guys crashed the tests, so proud of you" Mr Afolabi added as he passed the test scripts to the class captain.
"Share it" he told him.
I played with my fingers nervously as Patrick walked over to my table and dropped two scripts on the table and walked away. I quickly grabbed both scripts and passed the other to my desk mate.
I opened my script and sighed. The moment I saw zero written in a red pen. I pursed my lips.
I had zero, again.
It wasn't my fault I hated Maths. I just never remembered excelling at it. I folded the paper neatly into my locker and watched as Mr Afolabi taught us.
I yawned in between because hell, I could swear I didn't understand one bit of whatever he was saying. I placed my head on my table and slept off, one thought on my mind.
I can't kill myself.
It was time for break and I was on the line. The girls were already sitted and chatting while I queued to get us our snacks.
I quickly grabbed a large tray as I got to my turn. I placed drinks on the tray. Sprite, Coke, 7up and Bigi Chapman according to their preferences. I also grabbed Gala, Yum yum and Rite. I grabbed a potato snacks and hollandia yoghurt for myself as I swiped my meal card.
Everyone was looking at me weirdly as I walked to our table. The cafeteria workers were used to it and didn't say a word.
I placed the tray in front of the girls as they picked their share.
"Why didn't you bring an extra tray? You know I eat my snacks halfway. You don't expect me to put it on the table bah?" Josie asked looking irritated.
"Sorry, I'll go get one right now" I said as I quickly walked towards the counter and grabbed two trays.
